DEWALT reciprocating saws: one-handed, compact, full-size or corded
Choose by where you cut. For overhead and tight spots, DEWALT's one-handed saws are the 12V MAX DCS312B and the 20V MAX ATOMIC DCS369B. For cuts between studs, its compact 20V saws are about 14 to 14.5 in. long. For demolition, its full-size DCS382B, DCS384B and 60V MAX DCS389B use a 1-1/8 in. stroke. If you work near an outlet, its corded saws run on 10 or 12 amps.

Batteries and DEWALT's claims
- Bare tools: every cordless saw here is sold without a battery or charger. The DCS312B uses 12V MAX packs; the DCS389B uses 60V MAX FLEXVOLT packs; the rest use 20V MAX packs.
- DCS367B runtime: DEWALT claims up to 2.5x more runtime, on average, using a DCB205 battery against the older DC385 with a DC9096 battery, in 2x4 wood.
- Warranty: every page lists a 3-year limited warranty, 1 year of free service and a 90-day satisfaction guarantee.
Where DEWALT's pages disagree
- DCS367B: features give 14.5 in. long and 5 lb tool only; the spec list gives 13.75 in. and 5.4 lb.
- DCS389B: its voltage footnote names both 20 and 60 volts, though the saw is listed as 60V MAX.
- DCS380B: the spec list gives a 6.12 in. length, which does not fit a full-size saw; we do not use it.
When to skip one
- Skip the one-handed saws if you want a 1-1/8 in. stroke; DEWALT lists that stroke for its compact, full-size and corded saws but none for the one-handed ones.
- Skip the DCS389B if you have no FLEXVOLT battery.
- Skip the brushed DCS380B and DCS387B if you want a brushless motor.
