Its manual lists a two-quart water tank, a 1.25-pound removable basket, a scoop, a clear lid and a Select button for small or large cubes. Consider it when you want ice for a few drinks at a time and like having a size choice.
The 26 pounds is a maker figure for a full day of running with the tank kept filled. The basket holds about a pound and a quarter, the machine stops when the basket is full, and nothing in the manual describes the basket as refrigerated. Plan to move ice you want to keep into a freezer.
Three different speed claims appear; the manual's is the widest
The Amazon title says cubes are ready in six to eight minutes and the listing description says as little as seven. The exact-model manual says nine cubes every seven to fifteen minutes, depending on the cube size selected and room temperature, and adds that timing may vary considerably in very hot rooms. Use the manual's range when planning for a gathering.
The manual's troubleshooting tips give a room range of 45°F to 90°F, say the unit must be in an environment below 90°F to make ice, and recommend the small cube setting below 60°F so cubes do not stick together. It also asks you to let the machine stand for one hour before its first plug-in.
Allow six inches on every side
Amazon's table lists the body at 12.2 inches deep, 9.06 wide and 12.8 high, and 14.97 pounds. We found no Nostalgia product page for this model to confirm those retail figures, so treat them as listing data. The manual requires at least six inches of empty space on all sides, on a flat, level surface away from direct sunlight, stoves and other heat.
Six inches each side turns a roughly nine-inch-wide body into a space about twenty-one inches wide. That is more clearance than some similar machines ask for, so measure before assuming it fits a gap beside another appliance. The lid opens upward for filling and removing the basket, so check overhead cabinet room too.
The handle is for carrying between rooms, not for outdoor use
The listing mentions pool parties and the manual's introduction mentions RVs and club houses. The same manual's safeguards say do not use outdoors and household use only, and its warranty applies to indoor household use. It is rated for a 120V AC outlet at 105 watts and 1.7 amps, and the maker does not recommend running it through voltage converters abroad.
The safeguards also say never to leave the unit unattended while in use or while plugged in. That is a stricter instruction than many buyers expect for an appliance that works in the background. If you wanted a machine to run while you are out, read that line before buying.
The cleaning mode still needs solution, rinsing and draining
Cleaning mode is chosen with the Select button and runs five automatic cycles. The manual's full routine is longer than one button press: drain through the plug on the bottom, run five cycles with a cleaning solution, drain again, wipe the interior and exterior with warm soapy water, run five more cycles with fresh water, drain and dry. The manual lists acceptable solutions and their proportions; follow that printed list exactly and do not combine products.
Because the drain plug is on the bottom, the machine has to be moved to a sink edge or over a container each time. The manual says to change the tank water every twenty-four hours, to drain the tank whenever the unit is not in use, and to leave the lid open for twenty-four hours to dry before storage.
Know the restart behavior, service route and warranty limits
After refilling, the manual notes the unit will begin making ice on its own after twenty minutes if you do not restart it. If power is interrupted mid-cycle or the panel lights blink, the instructions are to switch off, unplug, let ice fall from the evaporator, empty the water tray and wait three minutes before restarting. It warns not to touch the evaporator during ice making. The refrigerant is R600a, and the manual sends cooling-system faults to a qualified technician.
Nostalgia's warranty is one year from original purchase for the original retail buyer with the sales receipt, covering defects under normal home use when the instructions are followed. Remedy is repair, replacement or refund at the company's discretion. You may have to prepay return shipping, claims must be raised within thirty days of a failure, remanufactured units are excluded, and it is valid only in the USA and Canada. Check the seller and condition of the offer you select.
