What is in the kit
Metabo HPT lists the standard accessories as an 18V 2.0Ah battery with fuel gauge (377797M), an 18V charger (UC18YKSL), two no-mar nose caps, a hook and safety glasses. The manual names the battery as the BSL1820M and gives about 60 minutes to charge it at 68 degrees F.
No compressor, hose or gas cartridge is needed: Metabo HPT describes a mechanical spring drive powered by the 18V battery. The Amazon listing's model field reads NT1850DG, and its bullets give the same 700 nails per charge and 5.5 lb figures as the maker page.
Nail range, and one length the manual excludes
Metabo HPT's page and tool card give a range of 5/8 in. to 2 in. 18-gauge brads in a 100-nail magazine. The manual's specification table adds a footnote: the range excludes nails that measure 1-3/8 in. (35 mm). The page and tool card do not mention that exception.
The manual also says to use only genuine Metabo HPT nails, warning that other nails can cause malfunction. If 1-3/8 in. brads are a size you use often, ask Metabo HPT about the footnote before you buy.
Sequential firing only, at two nails a second
The NT1850DG fires in single sequential mode only: press the push lever against the work, then pull the trigger, and the trigger must be released before the next nail. There is no bump fire setting. Metabo HPT gives a driving speed of 2 nails per second, and the manual lists the cycle rate as 2 per second, intermittent.
Metabo HPT says there is no ramp-up time between nails, and depth of drive is set without tools. An LED lights the work area. Metabo HPT's specification table lists the motor as not brushless.
Weight, runtime and temperature
Metabo HPT's page and tool card give 5.5 lbs for the tool without its battery; the manual gives 6.4 lbs (2.9 kg) with the battery fitted. Metabo HPT rates the included 2.0Ah battery at 700 nails per charge, and says larger 18V and MultiVolt batteries also fit.
The manual gives an operating range of 32 to 104 degrees F and says the nailer may fail to work outside it, which matters for cold garages and summer attics. It also says to store the nailer with the battery removed, in a dry place.
Warranty
Metabo HPT's page says the NT1850DG is covered by its 5-year tool warranty, a 2-year lithium-ion battery warranty and a 1-year charger warranty. The manual read for this guide does not print the warranty terms.
Battery cover is shorter than tool cover, so register the purchase and keep the receipt in case the battery or charger fails first. Metabo HPT's warranty page has the full terms.
