Jigsaw blade buying guide

Jigsaw blades: match the shank to your saw, then pick the tooth for the cut

Two checks decide the order. First, the shank: Bosch sells T-shank and U-shank blades as separate lines, so buy the one your saw's blade clamp takes. Second, the cut: Bosch sells a 6 TPI Speed for Wood blade, a 10 TPI Clean for Wood blade and a 20 TPI Special for Laminate blade, and its 5-piece T500 set puts wood and metal blades in one pack. This guide covers Bosch blades for wood, laminate and sheet metal only; it does not cover blades for plastic, tile or other materials.

Prepared from Bosch's own blade listings, read October 10, 2026. We have not tested these blades. One purchase link (the T500 set) is included. Lengths, tooth counts, materials and set contents are Bosch's published figures.

Check the shank before anything else

Look at the blade your saw already takes, or the clamp section of its manual. Bosch says its T-shank design fits 90% of current jig saw makes and models. Our jigsaw guides list the Bosch JS572EBK as T-shank only, and DEWALT's DCS334P1 also takes T-shank blades.

If your saw clamps a U-shank blade, buy a U-shank part number instead. Bosch sells U-shank versions in the same wood families, such as the U101BR (3-5/8 in., 10 TPI reverse pitch) and the U101BF (4 in., 10 TPI, bi-metal). A T-shank set is not a saving if the saw cannot hold it.

Bosch's listings also give each blade a material code. Bosch says high carbon steel (HCS) blade material is appropriate for cutting softwood and non-abrasive woodworking materials, and fully hardened, high-grade high-speed steel (HSS) for cutting non-perforated metal sheets. Its laminate blade, the T101AOF, is listed as bi-metal (BIM); we found no Bosch statement of what that material changes, so we make no claim about it.

What tooth spacing and reverse teeth change

Bosch's international pages give each blade a tooth spacing and a recommended material thickness, which is the practical way to read TPI. The T 101 B has 2.7 mm spacing and is recommended for 3 to 30 mm material. The T 101 AO has finer 1.4 mm spacing with pointed teeth and a narrow body, is recommended for 1.5 to 15 mm material, and is sold for clean curved cuts; Bosch says the pointed teeth reduce tear-out. In these Bosch listings, the finer spacing goes with the thinner recommended stock.

Reverse teeth are about which face stays clean. Bosch says the T 101 BR's reverse tooth design "cuts tear-free at the top surface", and recommends it for 3 to 30 mm woodworking material with 2.5 mm progressive pitch. Choose it when the face you mark and look at is the one that must stay clean, such as a finished panel cut face up.

Cutting metal: T 118 A or T 118 B

The two Basic for Metal blades in the T500 set are matched to sheet thickness. Bosch says the T 118 A has a very fine progressive tooth pitch (1.1 to 1.5 mm) for very thin solid sheet metal 1 to 3 mm thick, and the T 118 B a fine pitch (1.9 to 2.3 mm) for medium-thick metal sheets 2.5 to 6 mm thick. Both are high-speed steel blades with milled, wavy-set teeth for straight cuts, and Bosch says the blade material suits non-perforated metal sheets. Use the T 118 A for thin sheet and the T 118 B for thicker sheet; at 2.5 to 3 mm either is inside Bosch's range.

The exact blades

Bosch T500 (5-piece T-shank set). Bosch lists the contents as T 101 B Clean for Wood, T 144 D Speed for Wood, T 119 BO Basic for Wood, T 118 A Basic for Metal and T 118 B Basic for Metal, one of each. Bosch Professional describes the T 119 BO as a narrow blade for curved cuts in softwood, with a fine 2 mm tooth pitch for thin wood 2 to 15 mm thick; Bosch's US listing sells it as the 3-1/4 in., 12 TPI, HCS T119BO3. The set is a way to learn which tooth you reach for. If you already know, a single-type pack is the better buy. Bosch also lists a 10-piece T5002 with the same five types.

On October 10, 2026 this exact T500 listing was new, sold by Amazon.com and in stock; offers change, so confirm the listing says T500 and 5 pieces. Only the T500 set is linked on this page; the single-blade packs above were not checked.

Bosch T144D (Speed for Wood). A 4 in. high-carbon-steel (HCS) blade with 6 TPI and side-set, ground teeth. Bosch's US listing shows it in a 100-pack (T144D100), and the T500 set includes one. Bosch also lists a 4 in., 6 TPI Speed for Wood blade as T244D in 3- and 5-packs. Bosch labels these Speed for Wood, as opposed to its Clean for Wood line.

Bosch T101B (Clean for Wood). A 4 in. HCS blade with ground teeth and a taper-ground back, sold in a 3-pack as T101B3 (listed as 10V TPI) and a 100-pack as T101B100. Bosch labels it Clean for Wood; it has 10 teeth per inch against the Speed blade's 6.

Bosch T101BR (Reverse Pitch Clean for Wood). The same 4 in. length and 10 TPI as T101B, in HCS, in a 5-pack (T101BR) or 100-pack. Bosch says its reverse tooth design cuts tear-free at the top surface and lists 3 to 30 mm material. It is also one of the five blades in Bosch's T501 set.

Bosch T101AOF (Special for Laminate). A 3-1/4 in. bi-metal (BIM) blade with 20 TPI and 0.05 in. tooth spacing, in a 5-pack. Bosch labels it Special for Laminate. At 3-1/4 in. it is shorter than the 4 in. wood blades above.

Blade length and thick stock

Most of the blades above are 4 in. long. For deeper cuts Bosch lists longer Speed for Wood blades, such as the T744D3: a 3-pack of 7 in., 7 TPI HCS blades. Before buying a 7 in. blade, check your saw's maximum cutting depth in wood in its manual or spec sheet.
