Choose it for smaller batches, not a serving promise
The RJ38-4T-BLACK is a four-quart, single-basket TurboFry Touch with four presets and adjustable time and temperature. It is worth considering when a smaller batch and a relatively compact body fit your routine. The nominal volume does not establish a flat cooking area or guarantee a particular number of meals; allow room for air circulation instead of treating the basket as a container to pack tightly.
450°F is a two-minute finishing boost
Chefman's ordinary stated cooking range is 200–400°F. The manual describes Hi-Fry as a separate 450°F boost lasting two minutes, activated toward the end of cooking or just after the cycle finishes. Do not compare that headline temperature with another model's continuous cooking range as though they are the same feature. Presets still require checking the food, and the shake reminder does not stir it for you.
A small body still needs operating clearance
The maker gives dimensions of approximately 13.8 × 10 × 10.2 inches and a 9.02-pound weight. The manual requires at least six inches of clearance above and behind the fryer. Also leave room to remove the basket and put hot parts on a suitable surface. Being small enough to store in a cabinet is not permission to operate inside one.
Check the rating label if electrical load matters
The current Amazon feature bullet lists 1,500 watts at 120V, while Chefman's own specification panel lists 1,700 watts at 120V for RJ38-4T-BLACK. The inspected manual pages did not resolve this difference. Confirm the actual unit's rating label with the seller or manufacturer if the wattage determines your choice; this guide does not select one conflicting number or present a power-use test.
Remove and wash the rack after cooling
The manual allows the basket and rack on the dishwasher's top rack or washing with warm soapy water, followed by thorough drying. Unplug and cool the fryer first, then lift the rack by its center opening; do not try to remove it while hot. Wipe the body with a damp cloth rather than immersing it. The basket pauses cooking when removed and resumes when returned, but that convenience does not eliminate checking and cleaning the cooking parts.
