Best air fryers: quarts, watts and clearance from maker pages and manuals
Compare capacity, wattage and clearance on each maker’s own figures
Quarts, liters, slices and cubic feet are different measures, so compare each maker’s own figure. COSORI lists a capacity of 6 qt / 5.7 L and Chefman 4 Qt / 3.78 L. Amazon’s DZ201 listing gives 8 quarts as two 4-quart baskets; SharkNinja’s owner’s guide prints no quart figure. Breville describes a 1 cubic foot oven interior, and BLACK+DECKER says its toaster oven fits six slices of bread or a 12-inch pizza. The table below lists all 26 models; the other nine Ninja models are not picked here.
These five are rated between 1,500 and 1,800 watts. BLACK+DECKER’s page says 1500 W, Chefman’s page 1700 W, COSORI’s manual 1,725 W and Breville’s manual 1800 W. Ninja’s guide says the DZ201 uses 1690 watts and must be the only appliance on a 15-amp breaker. Amazon’s Chefman bullet says 1500W.
The space each manual asks for differs. COSORI wants 5 inches behind and above plus room in front to remove the basket, Chefman and Ninja 6 inches above (Chefman also behind, Ninja on all sides), BLACK+DECKER 6 inches or more around the sides, back and top, and Breville 4 inches at each side and 6 inches above.
All five manuals say not to use the appliance outdoors, not to put it on or near a hot burner, and not to let the cord hang over the counter edge. Four say an extension cord should be rated at least as high as the appliance, and Breville and BLACK+DECKER add that it should be a three-prong grounding type; Ninja says not to use an extension cord. COSORI warns steam can damage walls or cupboards; BLACK+DECKER wants room so heat does not damage cabinets and walls.
Some warnings go further. COSORI says not to put its fryer on a stove at all, and Chefman says not to place it on a stovetop even when the stove is off. COSORI and Ninja say never to plug into an outlet below the counter. COSORI, Chefman and BLACK+DECKER say not to leave the appliance unattended while it runs.
A 6 qt single basket: COSORI TurboBlaze
COSORI lists 6 qt / 5.7 L and 90 to 450°F. Its page calls the basket and crisper plate “PFAS-free ceramic-coated”, but its manual says only “nonstick coating” and names no chemistry, so ask COSORI which coating your unit has. COSORI’s two-year warranty covers only products bought from authorized sellers. CPSC’s 2023 COSORI recall lists 21 other model numbers, not this one.

A two-basket fryer: Ninja Foodi DualZone DZ201
Ninja’s guide says the baskets and crisper plates are nonstick, names no coating chemistry, and recommends hand-washing the baskets to extend their life. It says both zones are self-contained, with separate heating elements and fans. Its one-year warranty applies to purchases from authorized retailers of SharkNinja. SharkNinja’s support page dates the guide January 14, 2026.

A compact 4 qt basket: Chefman TurboFry Touch
Chefman lists 4 Qt / 3.78 L and 9.02 lb. The manual says to fill the basket no higher than the MAX line and never to use aerosol cooking spray on the nonstick parts. Chefman’s one-year warranty is available on sales through authorized distributors and retailers only and is void without proof of purchase.

A countertop oven: Breville BOV900BSS
Breville lists a 1 cubic foot interior and 13 functions, and its manual rates the oven at 120 V, 60 Hz and 1800 W. The manual asks for 4 inches at both sides and 6 inches above, and recommends a dedicated circuit and a licensed electrician if you are unsure. The manual prints no warranty length; the specifications coded into Breville’s product page give 2 years on the product and 5 for glass defects, so confirm the term with Breville.
The manual also says not to cover the crumb tray or any part of the oven with foil, warns that high-oil foods such as pine nuts and walnuts can catch fire when broiled or cooked long or hot, and says to keep the door closed and unplug the oven if a fire occurs.

A toaster oven with an air fry mode: BLACK+DECKER TO3217SS
BLACK+DECKER’s page lists 1500 W and a 6-slice or 12-inch pizza capacity. Its manual says the air fry mode runs the oven at 425°F and that oven temperatures will be lower than the set point. It warns that a fire may occur if the oven is covered or touches curtains, draperies or walls, and says that if food ignites you should unplug the oven and not open the door. Its two-year warranty applies in the United States and Canada with proof of purchase.

Before you buy or use
- Coatings. COSORI’s page is the only one of the five that says PFAS-free ceramic. The Ninja, Chefman and Breville documents call parts nonstick without naming a material, and the BLACK+DECKER documents read name no coating.
- Recalls. CPSC’s database, searched September 29, 2026, lists the 2023 COSORI recall above and no air fryer recall naming Chefman, Ninja, Breville or BLACK+DECKER. Its SharkNinja records are 2025 Foodi OP300 pressure cookers, which also air fry, and 2015 BL660 blenders. Check cpsc.gov again before you order.
- Who sold it. The COSORI, Chefman, Ninja and Breville warranties cover only authorized sellers, and BLACK+DECKER’s manual asks for proof of purchase. Ask each maker whether your Amazon seller qualifies.

What to check before buying
The air fryer guides here cover basket fryers and countertop air fry ovens. They report how much space each manual wants around the unit, whether the owner's guide agrees with dishwasher-safe claims on the listing, and what outlet the wattage calls for. Time and temperature caps per mode are noted where the manual gives them.
- Clearance the manual asks. Required space differs a lot: some owner's guides ask for 1 inch above and around, others for 6 inches, and one listing asks for 4 inches where the manual says 1. Measure the spot, including room to pull the basket out.
- Dishwasher claims vs guide. Several guides report the maker's manual recommending hand-washing where the listing says dishwasher safe, or a product FAQ and manual disagreeing. Others note that only the tray, or no accessory at all, may go in the dishwasher.
- Outlet and wattage. Maker guides and FAQs ask for an outlet on a 15-amp breaker with nothing else plugged in, or a dedicated outlet, and one guide rules out extension cords. Two guides also report conflicting wattage, maker versus listing or between two maker documents.
- One basket or two zones. Check how the stated quarts are split. The guides note when an 8- or 10-quart total is two separate baskets, when a function such as Air Broil runs in one zone only, and when a single basket gives no second cooking zone.
- Mode time and heat caps. The highest setting may not run for long. Guides report a 450°F setting that is a two-minute boost, a 30-minute cap from 455°F up, long timers only at low temperatures, and an air fry mode fixed at 425°F.
This page collects 26 air fryer guides from Plain Buy Guides. Each guide covers one exact Amazon listing: the maker's published specifications, what the listing says is included, the fit and installation limits that decide whether it suits you, and the main caveat, with every source listed and dated. Nothing here is based on hands-on testing, and no guide promises a price or stock level.
In the table above, the Best for column says who each model suits, and the strength and caveat columns carry the first point each guide makes. Open a guide before buying to confirm the exact model, the included parts and any conflict between the listing and the maker's documents, which each guide reports rather than settles. Side-by-side pages put the published facts of two models from this category in one place.
Compare the published specs
The main figures stated in each air fryer guide on this page, side by side, with each guide's sources behind them. Units are as published; nothing here was measured by us.
A table scrolls sideways when it is wider than the screen. Select a column heading to sort.
— means the guide does not state that figure. “or” means the guide states more than one figure, for example where two sources disagree, for different modes or versions, or where a kit includes two tools; open the guide to see which applies. † means the guide reports that another source gives a different figure, or doubts the figure; open the guide. Only single figures in the column’s unit, with no mark, word or note in brackets, are sorted and counted below.
By the numbers
These cover only the 26 air fryers on this site, not the whole market. Ranges use the figures the guides state; the lowest and highest link to their guides, and the median is the middle of those figures. A model whose figure is missing, not applicable, more than one, marked, in words, in another unit or qualified in brackets is left out of that line.
