DEWALT DCK2100P2 20V MAX FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE Hammer Drill and Impact Kit

DEWALT 20V users who may add a FLEXVOLT battery later

This kit pairs the three-speed DCD999 hammer drill with the three-mode DCF887 impact driver, two 5Ah batteries and a DCB118 fast charger. The drill's FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE power boost needs a FLEXVOLT battery that is sold separately. Its manual requires a side handle that the kit lists do not name.

What is in the box: two tools, two 5Ah batteries, a fast charger

DEWALT Canada's page for DCK2100P2, whose barcode matches the Amazon UPC 885911725002, lists a DCD999B 20V MAX 1/2 in. brushless hammer drill/driver with FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE, a DCF887 20V MAX XR 1/4 in. brushless impact driver, two DCB205 20V MAX 5.0Ah batteries, a DCB118 8 amp fast charger, two belt hooks and a kit bag. Amazon's included-components line matches.

DEWALT gives the assembled kit as 12.55 lb, 14.1 by 11 by 7.3 in., with China as country of origin; Amazon's table rounds the weight to 12 lb. The kit list names no side handle, which matters for the drill manual's handling rule below.

FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE needs a battery this kit does not include

The drill's extra-power feature only works with a FLEXVOLT battery. DEWALT's footnote compares a DCB606 FLEXVOLT battery against the DCB205 20V MAX battery and states that FLEXVOLT batteries are sold separately. The Amazon listing's claim of up to 42 percent more power also applies only when the drill is paired with FLEXVOLT batteries.

With the two DCB205 packs supplied, the drill runs as a standard 20V MAX hammer drill. If the extra power is why you are choosing this kit, budget for a separate FLEXVOLT pack. The drill manual notes that a FLEXVOLT pack has a shipping cap that splits it into three smaller batteries for transport.

The drill has three speeds and wants its side handle

The DCD999 manual describes three speed settings, eleven clutch positions plus drill and hammerdrill modes, and a worklight with a spotlight mode that stays on for twenty minutes. The manual's speed and clutch pages carry the handling guidance, which we did not record in detail.

The manual lists a side handle among the drill's components and says to always operate the tool with it installed, one hand on the main handle and one on the side handle. Neither DEWALT Canada's kit list nor Amazon's names a side handle, so confirm one is in the box before starting high-torque work.

Capacities from the DCD999 manual

The maximum recommended capacities for the DCD999 are 1-1/4 in. auger, 1-1/2 in. paddle, 1/2 in. twist, 2-9/16 in. self-feed and 4 in. hole saw bits in wood; 1/2 in. twist and 1-3/8 in. hole saw in metal; and 1/2 in. carbide bits in masonry. Those figures give you a ceiling for anchors, conduit holes and deck work.

The manual's capacity table is the ceiling to plan around for anchors, conduit holes and deck work. Amazon's details give a 2,000 rpm maximum; the DEWALT sources read do not state a speed or torque figure for the DCD999, so that number is listing-only.

The DCF887 impact driver's Precision Drive mode

The DCF887 manual lists three modes: Precision Drive at 0 to 1,000 rpm, mode 2 at 0 to 2,800 rpm and mode 3 at 0 to 3,250 rpm. Precision Drive is the low-speed mode for lighter fasteners, per the manual's mode list.

The chuck takes 1/4 in. hex impact accessories only. Three LEDs around the chuck stay on for up to twenty seconds after the trigger is released, per the manual, which is enough to check a fastener before the light goes out.

Warranty and battery service terms

DEWALT Canada lists a three-year limited warranty, one year of free service and a ninety-day satisfaction guarantee. The DCF887 manual spells these out: three years on defects, one year of free service, and ninety-day money back with a receipt.

The same manual lists the DCB205 battery among packs with three years of free service, and says the warranty does not apply to products sold in Latin America. Keep the purchase record for the exact kit you receive.
