This kit pairs DEWALT's high-torque DCD1007 three-speed hammer drill, which its manual says must be used with the side handle, with the DCF845 impact driver and two 4Ah POWERPACK batteries. Fit and limits

Strengths

  • Three-speed hammer drill rated for 1/2 in. masonry and 5 in. hole saws
  • Anti-rotation shutdown and side handle for high-torque drilling
  • Kit page lists a three-year limited warranty

Caveats

  • Manual requires the side handle and two hands, which adds bulk
  • DEWALT and Amazon list very different kit weights
  • Charger model is not named on the kit page or listing

A three-speed hammer drill, impact driver and two 4Ah batteries

DEWALT's kit page lists a DCD1007 20V MAX XR brushless 1/2 in. three-speed hammer drill, a DCF845 20V MAX XR three-speed 1/4 in. impact driver, two DCB2104 XR POWERPACK 4Ah batteries, one charger, a side handle, two belt hooks and a contractor bag. The charger model is not named on the kit page or in the Amazon details.

DEWALT lists the kit as nine pieces measuring 16.75 by 9.45 by 5.75 in. The DCD1007 is the larger tool here: DEWALT lists it at 5.83 lb and 15.2 in. long as assembled with its side handle, against 2.35 lb for the impact driver without a battery.

The drill needs its side handle and both hands

The DCD1007 manual carries a high-torque warning and says to always operate the drill with the side handle installed. DEWALT rates the drill at 2,100 in-lbs of maximum brake torque, measured under laboratory conditions, and the manual says the clutch is not active in drill or hammer mode.

It also has DEWALT's ANTI-ROTATION system, described in the manual. Plan for the side handle in tight spots: the DCD1007B tool page counts the side handle among the drill's three pieces, and the manual's side-handle page explains fitting it.

Capacities cover large wood holes and 1/2 in masonry

The manual's maximum recommended capacities for the DCD1007 are 1-1/2 in. auger and paddle bits, 1 in. twist, 3-5/8 in. self-feed and 5 in. hole saws in wood; 1/2 in. twist, 4 in. hole saw and a #9 step bit in sheet metal; a 1 in. carbide hole cutter in plate steel; and 1/2 in. carbide percussion bits in masonry.

The tool page lists three speeds with a 2,000 rpm maximum, 38,250 blows per minute and eleven clutch settings; the manual confirms speed 1 as highest torque and speed 3 as highest speed. DEWALT's claim of up to 275 holes per charge used a larger DCB2108 battery and a 7/8 in. auger, not the 4Ah packs in this kit.

The impact driver: 1,825 in-lbs, hex bits only

DEWALT rates the DCF845 at 1,825 in-lbs and up to 3,400 rpm with three speed settings, and its thirty percent more torque claim is against the DCF885 rated at 1,400 in-lbs. The manual says the chuck accepts 1/4 in. hex accessories and 1 in. bit tips only, and that only impact-rated accessories should be used.

The DCF845 manual adds that delivered torque varies, so critical fastenings should be checked with a torque wrench. The Amazon bullet that gives the driver's torque as 4.5 cm lbs appears garbled; DEWALT's pages and the Amazon details table both give 1,825 in-lbs.

Weight and listing details that do not agree

DEWALT's kit specification lists an assembled weight of 8.6 lb and nine pieces. Amazon's details table lists 12.57 lb and names Stanley Black & Decker as manufacturer. Neither source explains the difference, so if carried weight matters, check the box label rather than relying on either figure alone.

Amazon's table also shows one AA battery required, which does not match the two DCB2104 lithium-ion packs listed by both DEWALT and Amazon's own included-components line. The listing description is a single line, so the DEWALT kit page and the two tool manuals are the better reference for what you receive.

Charging, cleaning and the three-year warranty

The drill manual says to charge only between 40°F and 104°F, and to blow dust out of the vents at least weekly. The charger manual was not read for this guide, so charger indicators and charge times are not covered here.

The kit page lists a three-year limited warranty, and the tool pages add one year of free service and a ninety-day satisfaction guarantee. The manual says the warranty does not apply to products sold in Latin America and that the drill's worklight, charger and batteries are not user-serviceable.
