DEWALT's page data lists one battery and a charger included. The manual's warranty section adds three years of free service on the DCB205 battery pack, on top of the tool's own three-year limited warranty.
Speed dial and trigger
The DCS334 has a variable speed trigger and a speed control dial. Per the manual, the dial presets the top sawing speed, the trigger varies speed up to that setting, and the right setting depends on the thickness and kind of material. DEWALT's page data lists 3,200 as the maximum speed, and the manual's Spanish spec line reads 3200 spm.
The manual says to use high speeds for wood and for soft metals such as aluminum, copper and mild steel, and lower speeds for plastics, tile, laminate, hard metals and cast iron. A lock-off button locks the trigger, and the manual says the tool has no provision to lock the switch on.
Orbital action and materials
A lever sets four cutting actions: position 0 is straight cutting, and 1 to 3 are orbital, growing more aggressive. DEWALT's manual says orbital action cuts faster but less smoothly, is meant for soft materials like wood or plastic, and should never be used on metal or hardwoods.
The manual names wood, steel, aluminium, plastic and ceramic material as intended uses. For thin sheet metal it suggests clamping wood under the sheet, with a finer blade for ferrous metals and a coarser one for non-ferrous metals.
Bevel, blades and shoe
The keyless shoe bevel tilts up to 45 degrees left or right, with visible detents at 15 and 30 degrees per the manual and a positive stop at 45 per DEWALT's page. The saw uses T-shank blades only, held by an all-metal, lever-action keyless clamp, and the manual warns that used blades may be hot.
The manual describes a no-mar shoe cover for surfaces that scratch easily, such as laminate, veneer or paint, and an anti-splinter insert to reduce tear-out. It also says the saw will not bevel while the optional dust extraction shroud and chute are fitted, and recommended accessories cost extra.
Lights, blower and warranty
Work lights sit on either side of the blade. They come on with the trigger and stay on 20 seconds after you release it, and the manual says they light the work surface and are not meant as a flashlight. DEWALT's page lists an integrated dust blower to help clear the line of sight.
DEWALT's page claims the brushless motor gives longer runtime than its DCS331 jigsaw. That is DEWALT's comparison, not a test of ours. The page gives a three-year limited warranty, one year of free service and a 90-day satisfaction guarantee, and the manual states the same three terms.
