What this kit is, and the two model names
This listing sells a Greenworks 80-volt, 21-inch battery mower with rear-wheel self-propel, one 80V 4.0Ah battery and a charger. The listing, its details table and the operator manual all call it model MO80L416, and the manual describes it as a battery-powered self-propelled rotary mower with a mulching function and a detachable grass catcher.
Greenworks' own product page names the same kit LM2108S. The page's product barcode matches the UPC on the listing, and the owner's manual that page links carries MO80L416 on its cover. Neither source explains the second name; quote MO80L416 when contacting Greenworks.
The manual says the mower is meant for cutting and mulching grass and weeds and nothing else. It also notes that the upper handle is bolted on at assembly with a Phillips screwdriver that is not included, so have one ready when the box arrives.
Runtime: 33 minutes from the maker, two hours in one listing field
Greenworks' page gives a runtime of up to 33 minutes with the included 4.0Ah battery and a recharge time of 40 minutes with the included charger. Both the maker page and the listing say the kit covers up to half an acre on a full charge, and the listing adds that this varies with grass condition and operator technique.
One listing field, labelled battery average life, says two hours. That does not match the maker's 33-minute figure, and nothing on the listing explains the difference. The manual adds that the turbo button drains the battery faster.
The manual itself does not give a runtime or charge time; it defers to the separate battery and charger manuals. Its technical data lists the battery as BAB742 and other BAB-series packs, and the charger as CAB813 and other CAB-series units, which is useful if you already own Greenworks 80V batteries.
Cutting heights, modes and the turbo button
Cutting height is set with a single lever. The manual's technical data gives a range of 1-3/8 to 4 inches, the maker page lists seven heights from 1.38 to 4.0 inches, and the listing field also says seven positions, so the sources agree on this point.
Greenworks calls it 4-in-1: mulch, rear bag, side discharge and a turbo mode that it pitches for leaf pickup. The manual explains which of the bag, mulch plug and side chute to fit for each mode. The maker page lists the bag at 60 litres.
Blade speed is 2,800 RPM by default and 3,200 RPM while the turbo button is pressed, according to the manual. Neither document gives a figure for how much runtime turbo costs, only the warning that it drains the battery faster.
How the self-propel drive works
The manual lists a self-propelled speed range of 1.9 to 5.0 feet per second. Pace is set with a slider marked with rabbit and turtle symbols.
The manual says the drive can also run without the blade spinning, using the power button and drive lever. That lets you move the 75-pound machine under power between areas without the blade running.
The product symbols in the manual warn against operating on inclines steeper than 15 degrees and against mowing on wet ground. Read the manual's safety chapter before first use; this page does not repeat it.
Size, weight and storage
Both the maker page and the listing give the weight as 75 pounds. The listing gives dimensions of about 67.7 by 25.6 by 41 inches, and the maker page lists the shipping box at 37.4 by 23.6 by 17.5 inches.
One listing field gives the cutting width as 20.28 inches while the title, the maker page and the manual all say a 21-inch deck. It is a small difference, but it is worth knowing if you are comparing deck widths line by line.
The manual describes an upright storage position with the handles folded and the mower resting on its brackets. Greenworks markets the folding handles as EZ Fold and says they take up to 70 percent less space, a figure the manual does not repeat.
Care and the four-year warranty
The manual's maintenance table splits checks into each use, monthly and each season. It says to clean the mower after each use with water, a neutral detergent and a soft cloth, keep water away from the battery compartment, and never wash the battery or charger. If the mower stops from overheating, it says to move it to shade for 10 to 15 minutes.
The warranty in the manual is four years against defects for the original purchaser with proof of purchase, and the maker page and listing both describe it as a four-year tool and battery warranty. It covers personal use only; units hired or rented for commercial use are excluded, as are normal wear, routine items such as blade sharpening, and damage from not following the manual.
Transport costs are the owner's responsibility under the manual's terms, unless Greenworks asks for the return in writing. Keep your receipt, and remove the battery after each session as the manual instructs.
