What is in this T9 kit
This listing is the Honeywell Home T9 Wi-Fi touchscreen thermostat bundled with one wireless room sensor, model RCHT9610WFSW2003. Honeywell's product page shows the same kit as SKU RCHT9610WFSW2003/U and, on the day we checked, labels it discontinued. The listing's dimensions, 4.92 by 3.7 by 0.94 inches, match Honeywell's page.
Honeywell's page lists the box contents as the thermostat, installation guide, UWP wall plate, wireless sensor, screws, anchors, wire labels and a C-wire adapter. The installation guide's in-box list shows the same items, but draws the C-wire adapter as optional. Honeywell names the app as the Resideo app, and the listing adds Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant.
C wire: needed, but the kit includes an adapter
The installation guide states that a C wire is required for 24 VAC power, and that if you do not have one, a C-wire adapter is provided. Its checklist also looks for an unused spare wire in the bundle. The listing bullets say the same thing in two parts: C-wire required, and the included power adapter is a low-voltage alternative to a C wire.
The guide says adapter installation is more complicated where there is a zoning panel, and gives Resideo's number, 1-855-733-5465, for that case. It lists the thermostat input as 24 V at 60 Hz, 0.2 A. The Amazon details table shows a voltage of 240 volts, which does not match the guide's figure; neither source explains the difference, so confirm with Honeywell if it concerns you.
Systems it runs and systems it does not
Honeywell's page lists up to 3 heat and 2 cool stages, with heat, cool, auto, off and emergency heat modes. The installation guide says it is compatible with most heating, cooling and heat pump systems, but does not work with electric baseboard heat at 120-240 V, does not work with millivolt systems, and does not support S terminals.
The listing adds that it works with forced air, hot water and steam, and heat pumps with electric backup, and that it will not work with heat-only oil furnace systems unless a C wire is present. The guide says that if your old thermostat has wires on terminals it does not list, you need extra wiring support. We do not give wiring steps here.
Room sensors and priority
The installation guide describes up to 20 sensors reading temperature, humidity and occupancy, with up to a 200-foot range that it says varies. The listing also quotes 200 feet and says range could be further. Priority can follow rooms you select or the rooms where motion is detected, which the guide calls active rooms.
The sensor quick start guide says to place sensors about 5 feet above the floor on inside walls, and not behind furniture or doors, in direct sunlight or above air vents. Sensors are added from the thermostat's Devices and Sensors menu, and the installation guide's troubleshooting page covers a sensor that will not connect.
Day-to-day use
The installation guide covers how the screen wakes and what it displays. Heat can be set from 40°F to 90°F and cool from 50°F to 99°F. Honeywell's page lists 7-day programming, fan On, Auto and Circulate, a touch screen, filter change reminders and Smart Response.
The guide also describes geofencing and alerts alongside the room priority settings. Wi-Fi on Honeywell's page covers 802.11 b, g and n in both 2.4 and 5 GHz ranges.
Warranty
The installation guide carries a two-year limited warranty from Resideo, excluding the battery, from the date of first purchase by the original purchaser. Resideo repairs or replaces at its option. To claim, the guide says to return the product with dated proof of purchase to the place of purchase, or call Resideo Customer Care at 1-800-633-3991.
It does not cover removal or reinstallation costs, and it excludes damage shown to have occurred while the product was in the consumer's possession. Honeywell's page and the listing both give the warranty as two years, so all three sources agree.
