What this listing is: the white X7B

The X7B is a Honeywell Home Wi-Fi thermostat with a 4.3-inch touchscreen, controlled through the First Alert app and set up for Matter from the thermostat's menu. This listing is the white version, model X7BWF1W/W. The X7 series user guide lists X7BWF1W as the white thermostat with gray accent for the US and Canada. Honeywell's X7B product page shows the black version, SKU X7BMC2B/U.

The installation manual's package list is the thermostat, the UWP wall plate, screws and anchors, and literature, and notes that kits may include other accessories. Honeywell's page lists 3.54 x 5.24 x 0.96 inches; the listing gives the same three numbers, labelled as 3.54 wide and 5.24 high.

One labelling point to know: the installation manual's model table puts X7BWF1W, this listing's model, on a row headed X7S Black Thermostat, No occupancy sensor, US and Canada, alongside X7BMC2B. The user guide describes X7BWF1W as white with a gray accent. The model number is named in both Resideo documents, but they describe it differently, so check the colour on the listing photos and the box.

What the X7B leaves out compared with the X7S

The installation manual covers the X7S and X7B together and marks the differences. It says the X7B cannot be paired with wireless room sensors, and the user guide marks room prioritisation as X7S only. The manual lists the built-in radar sensor as X7S only, and its model table describes the X7B row as having no occupancy sensor.

Several menu items are also marked as not shown on the X7B, including idle-screen behaviour on detection, the devices and sensors menu, sensor priority in schedules, and motion status. The manual's scheduling choices for the X7 models are a set schedule, Auto Away, or both.

A conflict on Honeywell's own page: radar sensor

Honeywell's X7B product page lists Onboard Radar Sensor among the features in its specification table. The installation manual says radar is X7S only and describes the X7B as having no occupancy sensor, and the X7B listing does not claim occupancy or presence sensing.

Neither document explains why the two disagree. If presence detection matters to you, confirm with Honeywell whether the X7B you buy has presence sensing.

Systems it runs, and what it cannot control

The manual, Honeywell's page and the listing agree on up to 3 heat/2 cool heat pump systems with electric backup and up to 2 heat/2 cool conventional systems. The manual names gas or oil forced air with air conditioning and radiant hot water; it does not work with electric baseboard heat at 120-240 V and does not support S terminals.

The manual says the thermostat only supports electric backup heat on heat pumps and will warn that it is not compatible if another backup type is chosen. It also says X7 models cannot control a humidifier, dehumidifier or ventilator. Honeywell's X7B page lists humidity monitoring, and the manual gives sensor accuracy of plus or minus 5 percent RH from 30 to 50 percent at 75°F.

C wire and the adapter voucher

The manual lists 24 VAC power by C wire as required, and Honeywell's page says hardwired with C wire required. If there is no spare wire and your old thermostat had both Y and G wires, the manual says a THP9045A C-wire adapter can be used, and lists that adapter as optional and ordered separately.

The listing says a voucher for a free C-wire adapter by mail is included in the package, and its components field reads C-Wire Adapter voucher. A text search of the installation manual found no mention of a voucher, so confirm with the seller that it is in the box. Wi-Fi is 2.4 or 5 GHz, and the manual lists 2.2 VA maximum power consumption.

Everyday settings and warranty

The manual lists heating setpoints from 40°F to 90°F and cooling from 50°F to 99°F, with adjustable range-stops, fan modes Auto, On and Circulate, auto changeover and Adaptive Recovery. Emergency heat mode is only available with a heat pump plus backup heat stages. The user guide adds seven idle-screen styles and colors and Matter setup from the menu.

The X7 series user guide states a 2-year limited warranty and points to resideo.info/US-Warranty-THERMOSTAT for terms, with a printed copy available from Resideo Customer Care at 1-800-633-3991. Honeywell's X7B page does not list a warranty length, and we did not read the written warranty itself.
