Strengths

  • The listing supplies the Mark III manual, dated February 2025, with a daily, weekly and monthly maintenance schedule and a spark plug specification.

Caveats

  • Sound pressure at the operator's ear is 106 dB(A) and guaranteed sound power is 115 dB(A); the listing's 74 dB field is not a Husqvarna number.
  • The listing gives an item weight of 34 pounds, which neither Husqvarna document supports, and dimensions that do not match Husqvarna's.
  • Husqvarna's fuel guidance for this model asks for premium non-ethanol gasoline of at least 89 octane in a 50:1 mix.

Which machine this actually is

The listing's model name field reads 580BTS III and its part number is 970499101. Husqvarna's own specification header for that same part number reads Right Hand Throttle, MKIII, NA, and the manual attached to the listing is headed 580BTS Mark III and 580BFS Mark III, document 1667-004 dated February 2025.

That matters because the manual is written for two machines at once, and its technical data table has one column for each. The 580BTS Mark III column is the one that applies here. The 580BFS Mark III column differs on weight and on how the engine is stopped, so do not read across the table.

Husqvarna's equipment lines give a round nozzle and an integrated harness and state that no vacuum kit is included. The listing's bullets add a ventilated load-reducing harness, a padded hip belt, a throttle mounted on the tube and a two-stage commercial-grade air filter.

The air figures agree across all three documents

Husqvarna's capacity block gives max air flow at nozzle, round, as 1,000 cfm, max air speed with the round nozzle as 220 mph, and max blow force as 47 newtons. Its FAQ repeats the same three figures, describing the 1,000 cfm and 220 mph as maximums at the nozzle.

The manual's fan performance block agrees line for line: maximum air velocity with the standard nozzle 220 mph or 98 metres per second, and air flow with the standard nozzle 1,000 cfm or 28 cubic metres per minute. Both figures are stated at the nozzle.

The listing repeats the same three numbers in its title and its first bullet. So the 1,000 CFM on the listing is the same 1,000 cfm Husqvarna prints in its specification table and in the manual, stated at the nozzle, with 220 mph and 47 N alongside it.

Weight: 26.8 pounds in both Husqvarna documents

Husqvarna's dimensions block gives a weight of 26.8 pounds, its FAQ says 26.8 pounds without fuel, and the manual's technical data gives 12.2 kilograms or 26.8 pounds for the 580BTS Mark III. Three Husqvarna statements, one number.

The listing's details table says 34 pounds. Neither Husqvarna document gives that figure, and neither the listing nor Husqvarna says whether 34 pounds is a packed shipping weight, so the difference is unexplained; confirm with the seller if the weight matters to you.

Physical size is the other place the listing diverges. Husqvarna gives product size as 21.61 inches high, 12.76 inches long and 20.24 inches wide, with a tube 3.386 inches in diameter and 47.126 inches long. The listing gives 20.48 by 21.5 by 21.5 inches, and again neither document says what is being measured.

Noise is the number to plan around

Husqvarna's sound block for this machine gives a sound pressure level at the operator's ear of 106 dB(A), a measured sound power level of 113 dB(A) and a guaranteed sound power level, LWA, of 115 dB(A). The page publishes no vibration figure for this model.

The listing's Noise Level field reads 74 dB. That figure is not published by Husqvarna for the 580BTS anywhere on its product page, and it is more than thirty decibels below what Husqvarna does publish for this model.

The accessories Husqvarna lists beside the 580BTS are protective glasses, technical work gloves and headband hearing protection. The manual's safety chapter and its protective-equipment requirements are not reproduced here, so read them before first use.

Engine, fuel and the octane Husqvarna asks for

Husqvarna's engine block gives cylinder displacement of 75.6 cubic centimetres, output shaft power of 4.6 horsepower as net power to ISO 8893, a fuel tank of 87.92 US fluid ounces or 2.6 litres, fuel consumption of 464 grams per kilowatt hour, maximum power speed of 7,450 rpm and idling speed of 2,000 rpm. The manual confirms the 75.6 cubic centimetres, the 2,000 rpm idle and a 2.6 litre or 5.5 US pint tank.

Husqvarna's FAQ for the 580BTS says the machine requires a 50:1 fuel-to-oil mixture and that it is highly recommended to use premium non-ethanol gasoline with a minimum of 89 octane. Check that fuel meeting that description is available to you before you buy.

The ignition side is specified for spares: an NGK CMR7H spark plug with an electrode gap of 0.6 to 0.7 millimetres, which the manual also writes as 0.024 to 0.028 inches. Husqvarna's web specification gives the gap as 0.03 inches. The manual also records that this machine has a speed-regulated ignition system and no catalytic converter muffler.

What Husqvarna expects you to do to it, and how often

The manual's maintenance schedule is split three ways. Daily items are cleaning the external surfaces, checking that the control handle and the start and stop control work correctly, examining the engine, fuel tank and fuel lines for leaks, checking the fuel filter for contamination, cleaning or replacing the air filter, and tightening nuts and screws.

Weekly items add examining the air intake for blockages, the starter and starter rope for damage, the vibration damping units for cracks or deformation and correct installation, and the spark plug. The manual says to clean the cooling system with a brush weekly or more often, and states that a dirty or blocked cooling system can make the product too hot.

Monthly items cover cleaning the carburettor's external surface and the area around it, cleaning the fuel tank, examining all cables and connections, and replacing the spark plug. The manual says to use the recommended spark plug, states that an incorrect one can damage the product, and lists idle adjustment, fuel mixture and air filter cleanliness as checks when a plug fouls.
