What comes in the 420iQ box
Husqvarna's product page lists the Automower 420 iQ as product 970 72 75-01. Its included list is the mower, charging station, power supply unit, 33 feet of low voltage cable, 100 stakes, six extra blades, the EPOS plug-in and an EPOS reference station. Loop wire is listed as not included.
The same page describes the kit as coming with an Automower 410iQ robotic mower in one feature blurb, while the listing's matching bullet says 420iQ. We are reporting both as printed; check the carton and rating plate when it arrives.
The operator's manual covers the 410iQ, 420iQ and 440iQ together. It says the serial number and product number are on the rating plate and the carton, and that the mower comes with a factory PIN code.
Two ways to set boundaries
The manual says the mower can be installed with virtual boundaries using EPOS technology, or with a physical boundary wire. For a virtual installation it lists the mower, charging station, power supply, a reference station and a mobile device with the app, and it says EPOS through Husqvarna Cloud needs correction data across the whole work area.
Husqvarna's product page says EPOS via Husqvarna Cloud is available only in select locations, and that where it is not, you install with the included reference station. The manual also mentions the reference station's radio coverage, and asks for an unimpeded sky view over the work area and at the charging station docking point.
If you go wired, you need to buy loop wire separately, since the product page lists it as not included. The manual gives the narrowest passage as 60 centimetres with boundary wire and 200 centimetres with a virtual boundary. Check your narrowest gap against both figures.
Lawn size depends on the installation
The listing and product page both say up to 1 acre, and the product page qualifies lawn size as plus or minus 20 percent. The manual's technical data splits the 420iQ's area capacity: 2,000 square metres, or 0.5 acre, for irregular mowing, and 4,000 square metres, or 1.0 acre, for systematic mowing with EPOS.
The manual attaches the 1.0 acre figure to systematic mowing with EPOS. Its energy figure for the 420iQ is 8.70 kWh per month for a 4,000 square metre area, with average mowing time of 84 minutes and average charging time of 54 minutes per cycle.
Maximum slope is 45 percent within the work area and 15 percent along a boundary wire. Cutting height runs from 2.5 to 10 centimetres, or 1 to 4 inches, with a 24 centimetre cutting width from three pivoted blades.
Size, weight and noise: listing versus manual
The manual's technical data gives the 420iQ as 84 by 60 by 35 centimetres and 18.6 kilograms, or 41 pounds. The listing gives 29.6 by 21.4 by 11.1 inches and 60 pounds. We are reporting both; the listing does not say whether its figures include the charging station or packaging.
For noise, the manual lists a perceived sound level of 56 dB(A), a measured sound power of 55 dB(A) and a sound pressure at the operator's ear of 47 dB(A) for the 420iQ. It also notes that the sound level can be higher than usual for the first weeks after installation.
The mower is rated IPX5, as is the charging station, and the power supply is IP44. The listing describes the mower as hose-washable, and the manual says to clean it with a brush or running water from a hose but never with a high-pressure washer or solvents.
App, connectivity and theft protection
The manual describes the Automower Connect app, with long-range cellular and short-range Bluetooth connectivity, and Automower Access controls on the mower itself: a display, a jog wheel and a STOP button. The technical data lists 2G and 4G cellular bands and Wi-Fi at 2.4 GHz, and a footnote says cellular service only applies where a third-party 2G or 4G supplier is available.
The product page lists random, striped and checkerboard mowing patterns in the app, firmware updates over the air, and an anti-theft alarm with GPS tracking through the Connect app. The manual says mapping is done in the app with a feature it calls AIM.
The manual's troubleshooting table notes the mower stops working when its battery temperature is too high or too low, and asks that the charging station be placed with protection from the sun. It also recommends at least 6 metres of free space in front of the charging station.
Upkeep and warranty
The manual asks you to examine the blade disc and blades weekly, and its maintenance schedule adds checks on the charging plate cable and connector, skid plate, rubber bellows, body mount bellows and airflow filter at longer intervals. It says a cleaning kit is available through dealers.
Husqvarna's product page and the listing both state a 4-year warranty, and the product page adds a 100-day money-back guarantee that applies only to purchases made directly on husqvarna.com. That guarantee would not apply to an Amazon purchase.
The attached Husqvarna 2026 warranty document excludes normal wear parts including blades, and damage from improper voltage or temperatures outside product specifications for robotic mowers. It also says first-sale units manufactured more than 12 months earlier carry no battery warranty, so ask the seller for the manufacture date. The same document says failure to perform maintenance voids the warranty.
