This kit is Makita's 1,250 in-lb XPH14 brushless hammer driver-drill with two 5.0Ah batteries, a rapid charger, a side handle and a bag. The manual rates it for 6 in. hole saws in wood and 5/8 in. masonry and says to always use the side grip. Amazon's 13 mm wood capacity figure does not match Makita's documents.

Fit and limits

Strengths

  • Manual capacities up to 6 in. hole saws and 5/8 in. masonry
  • Side handle and two 5.0Ah batteries included
  • XPT protection design per Makita's flyer

Caveats

  • Single tool; no impact driver in the kit
  • Amazon's wood capacity figure contradicts Makita's documents
  • Warranty length is not printed in the manual

One high-torque drill, two 5.0Ah batteries and a side handle

Makita's flyer, whose XPH14T UPC matches the Amazon listing, lists the standard equipment as the XPH14 brushless 1/2 in. hammer driver-drill, a DC18RC Rapid Optimum Charger, two BL1850B 5.0Ah batteries, a side handle and a tool bag. Amazon's included components match. There is no impact driver in this kit.

Makita rates the drill at 1,250 in-lbs of maximum torque and 6 lb with battery, at 7 in. long. The flyer lists XPT, Makita's protection design, and the manual gives the drill's weight as 5.1 to 6.0 lb depending on the battery fitted.

Capacities: the manual and the listing disagree

The XPH14 manual lists 5/8 in. in masonry, 1/2 in. in steel and, in wood, a 2 in. auger bit, 3 in. self-feed bit or 6 in. hole saw, plus wood screws up to 3/8 by 3-1/2 in. Makita's flyer gives the wood capacity as 3 in., matching the self-feed figure.

Amazon's details table gives a wood drilling capacity of 13 millimeters, about 1/2 in., which does not match either Makita document. Use the manual's capacity table, not the listing figure, when judging whether the drill will handle the hole sizes you need.

Speeds, clutch and modes

The manual lists two speeds of 0 to 550 and 0 to 2,100 rpm, with 0 to 8,250 and 0 to 31,500 blows per minute in hammer mode. The clutch has 21 torque levels, and the manual describes the depth rod for drilling holes to a uniform depth.

The manual's screwdriving pages carry Makita's clutch guidance, which we did not record in detail, so run a trial screw in scrap before working on finished material. The capacity table above is the figure to plan around.

Use the side handle every time

The manual says to always use the side grip to ensure operating safety. The kit's standard equipment includes the side handle, per the flyer, so there is no need to buy it separately as there is with some other kits.

The manual lists the grip assembly as an optional accessory that may be included, which the flyer confirms for this kit. Fit it before drilling, and keep the flyer's equipment list as proof of what the kit should contain.

Hammer drilling, metal and care

The manual's drilling pages carry Makita's guidance for masonry and metal, which we did not record in detail, so read them before the first hole. The manual's capacities are 5/8 in. masonry, 1/2 in. steel and up to 6 in. hole saws in wood.

If you run the drill until a battery is fully discharged, the manual asks you to let it rest for 15 minutes before continuing with a fresh battery. The manual's maintenance page carries the cleaning and service instructions, which we did not record in detail.

Warranty: confirm the three-year figure

Amazon's details describe a three-year limited warranty on the tool, battery and charger. The XPH14 manual does not print a warranty length; it refers to the warranty sheet packed with the product and, if that is missing, to makitatools.com for current United States terms.

Because the listing's figure could not be confirmed in the Makita documents read, check the warranty sheet in the box or Makita's site before relying on three years, and keep your proof of purchase for any claim.
