12,000 on the title, 10,000 DOE on Midea's page

The Amazon title calls this the Midea Duo 12,000 BTU with 10,000 BTU SACC for rooms up to 450 square feet. Midea's support page for the base model MAP12S1TBL names it a 10,000 BTU DOE Duo Smart Inverter Portable Air Conditioner for spaces up to 450 square feet, in black. The listing's own details table adds an ASHRAE rating of 14,000 BTU and a maximum floor area of 550, which contradicts its title.

The listing sells model MAP12S1TBL-A. Midea's support page covers MAP12S1TBL without the suffix, and Midea's 2026 user guide lists MAP12S1TBL and MAP12S1TBL-A as separate model numbers on its cover. No document we read says what the -A suffix changes, and we found no Midea product page for it, so check the model label on the unit you receive.

The listing claims more than 40 percent energy savings compared with the U.S. federal standard and a sound level as low as 42 dB, and its description says the airflow reaches 26 feet. None of these come with test conditions, and we did not measure anything.

Hose-in-hose venting and a 19 to 64 inch window kit

The listing describes a hose-in-hose design, with intake and exhaust air carried in one hose assembly. The manual says not to overextend or bend it, to keep objects at least 20 inches (about 500 mm) from the hose inlet and outlet, and not to add an extension to the exhaust hose.

According to the manual, the window kit fits openings from 19.1 to 63.8 inches (48.4 to 162 cm) using combinations of five sliders, plus adapters for sliding windows, a kit brace, a security bracket, foam seals and eight bolts. The listing's table repeats a 19.05 to 63.86 inch range and lists screws, anchors, clips and two foam strips.

The listing gives 16.73 by 19.53 by 34.48 inches and 72.8 pounds; the Midea pages we read do not publish dimensions or weight for this model. The manual places the unit at least 9.8 inches (25 cm) from the nearest wall.

Power rules and the refrigerant question

The manual asks for a properly grounded outlet protected by a fuse or breaker sized to the nameplate current, and rules out modifying the cord, extension cords and sharing a single outlet with other appliances. The listing gives 115 volts and 1,200 watts.

The manual's refrigerant warnings are for R32, a flammable refrigerant, and ask for installation, operation and storage in a room larger than 4 square metres, away from continuously operating ignition sources. The listing's details table names R 410A. The manual says the unit's own label takes precedence on minimum room area.

The manual rules out wet rooms and locations exposed to combustible gas, and says the wheels should not be used on thick carpet, so check both the room and the floor where the unit will stand.

Modes, the thermostat range and ComfortSense

Neither the listing nor the Midea pages we read describe a heat function for this model. The manual's panel modes are Auto, Cool, Dry and Fan, with Heat on some models, and it says not to select Heat on a cooling-only unit. Fan speeds are Low, Medium, High, Auto and a continuous option. The thermostat sets 60 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit; the operating range is 60 to 95 degrees for Cool and 55 to 95 for Dry.

Sleep mode raises the set point 2 degrees Fahrenheit after 30 minutes and another 2 after a further 30, and holds for seven hours. The timer schedules an automatic start or stop up to 24 hours ahead. The unit restarts on its previous settings after a power cut and waits three minutes before the compressor restarts.

The manual's ComfortSense feature works with the remote up to 26 feet away, updating every three minutes. The listing adds Wi-Fi control through the SmartHome app and voice control through Alexa and Google Assistant.

A drain pump in Dry mode, and P1 when the tray fills

For continuous draining, the manual's Dry-mode section uses the upper drain port and the supplied drain hose, and says the unit's condensate pump lets the hose rise up to six feet (1.8 m) toward a drain, as long as the end points downward. The listing confirms a drain hose is included.

When the bottom tray fills, the unit beeps eight times, shows P1 and stops cooling or dehumidifying while the fan keeps running; the manual says to drain the tray after a P1 alert. The manual also lists E1 to E4 error codes, and Midea's support line is 1-866-646-4332.

The manual's troubleshooting says that poor cooling can mean the room area is too large for the unit. The listing's title gives 450 square feet, while its details table gives both 450 and 550 square feet.

Filter every two weeks, and a one-year warranty

The air filter is part of the removable grille. The manual asks for it to be cleaned with water every two weeks and says never to run the unit without it. Drain the tray right after a P1 alert and before storage; homes with pets should wipe the grille periodically.

The manual's storage routine includes running the unit on Fan mode for 12 hours and keeping it somewhere cool and dark. It also says not to add an extension to the exhaust hose, so plan the unit's position around the hose it comes with.

The manual's warranty is one year from the date of delivery or purchase, whichever is later, with Midea or an authorised servicer covering defective parts and repair. You pay for diagnostics, removal, transport and reinstallation, and commercial, business or rental use is excluded. The listing's description says one year parts and labor; keep the bill of sale or delivery slip.
