NOCO Boost X GBX75 2500A 12V Lithium Jump Starter
Gas engines to 8.5L and diesels to 6.5L on 12V lead-acid
The GBX75 is NOCO's 2500-amp Boost X on a 74 Wh pack, rated for 8.5-litre gas and 6.5-litre diesel engines. Boost runs in 60-second bursts and must be power-cycled between them, and it refuses to jump start at all when its Cold or Hot LED is solid.

Fit and limits
Strengths
- Rated for diesel up to 6.5 litres as well as 8.5-litre gas engines

Caveats
- Manual override disables the protections and the 60-second timeout together
- Charging from a 5W phone brick takes about 20 hours by NOCO's own table
- Will not jump start at all while the Cold or Hot LED is solid
A bigger pack, rated for diesel
NOCO rates the GBX75 at 2500 amps peak, with a gas engine rating up to 8.5 litres and a diesel engine rating up to 6.5 litres. The internal battery is 74 watt-hours of lithium-ion — the figure NOCO publishes on its tech specs page and repeats in the guide's technical specifications. That diesel rating is the main reason to look at this model rather than a smaller Boost.
It is only for 12-volt lead-acid batteries. The guide says not to attempt other chemistries, to contact the battery maker first, and not to proceed if you are unsure of the battery's chemistry or voltage. The troubleshooting table even has a dedicated code for connecting to a system greater than 12 volts, such as 24V.
Size and weight need care. NOCO's specs page and the guide both give 3.77 pounds and roughly 8.4 by 5.4 by 2.5 inches; Amazon's table says 5 pounds and a different set of dimensions, which looks like packaged rather than product data.
Boost runs for sixty seconds at a time
This is the behaviour that surprises people moving from an older jump starter. A 60-second countdown starts the moment the GBX75 detects a battery. When it elapses, the jump-starting function is disabled, the Boost LED goes out and the charge LEDs show the pack's level again. To get another go you must power the unit off and back on with the power button.
NOCO frames it as an energy saver: the guide says it conserves power from the high-voltage design, and the Amazon bullets claim up to 12 jump starts per charge because of it. The guide's own advice is to turn the unit off as soon as the vehicle has started to maximise the number of starts you get.
The longer limit still applies on top of that. The guide says not to attempt more than five consecutive jump starts within a fifteen-minute period, and to let the GBX75 rest for fifteen minutes before trying again. Cooling is by natural convection, with no fan.
Manual override starts below 3 volts — and switches the timer off too
The GBX75 is designed to jump start 12-volt lead-acid batteries down to 3 volts. Below that the Boost LED stays off because the unit cannot detect a battery, and manual override, held for three seconds, forces the function on.
The guide's caution is printed in capitals and has an extra clause worth knowing: the 60-second timeout is disabled while manual override is active, and power will continue to be supplied for as long as it is on. On top of that, both the spark-proof and reverse-polarity protection features are disabled. It tells you to pay very close attention to polarity, not to let the clamps touch each other because the product will generate sparks, and warns that the mode uses very high current — up to 2500 amps — that can cause sparks and high heat if misused. If you are unsure, it says do not attempt it and seek professional help.
One troubleshooting code exists specifically for getting this wrong: a six-blink error means back-charge was detected into the GBX75 through the clamps while in boost mode, which the table describes as the unit being in manual override and then connected to a system greater than 12V, such as 24V.
The cold and hot lockouts are real, and they are separate LEDs
The GBX75 has dedicated Cold and Hot LEDs, and the guide's troubleshooting table explains four states. A flashing Cold LED means the unit is still fully operational but approaching its lower temperature limit. A solid Cold LED means it is too cold to jump start and only the flashlight is available until it warms up. A flashing Hot LED means it is approaching the upper limit, and a solid Hot LED means it is too hot to jump start, again leaving only the flashlight.
The stated ranges are an operating temperature of -20°C to +50°C, a charging temperature of 0°C to +40°C, and a storage temperature of -20°C to +50°C with a 0°C to +25°C daily average. The guide says not to operate outside those ranges, never to jump start a frozen battery, and to stop immediately if the battery becomes excessively warm.
The rest of the error table is worth a glance before you need it: reverse polarity detected, a short circuit on the clamps calling for loads to be removed and the clamps reconnected, an incompatible charger, a charging cable or device fault, a bad internal battery cell detected during charging, a charge timeout, and the high-voltage code mentioned above. The housing is IP65 with the ports closed.
Charging: fast with the right brick, very slow without
The USB-C port is input and output, using Power Delivery 3.0 at up to 60 watts. The guide's own recharge table is blunt about the difference a charger makes: about 1.7 hours at 60W fast charge, against about 20 hours from a 5W charger. Amazon's bullet quotes 1.8 hours and adds that standard low-wattage phone chargers will result in significantly longer charge times, which the 20-hour figure makes concrete. A fast-charge LED lights when the rate exceeds 15W.
NOCO's specs page details the ports: USB-C input at 5V 1.5A, 9V 3A, 12V 3A, 15V 3A or 20V 3A; USB-C output at 5V 3A up to 20V 3A; and a USB-A output at 5 volts 2.1 amps, 10 watts maximum. The guide adds a quirk for power-bank use — power the GBX75 on first, then plug in the device, because otherwise it may drain power from a DRP-compatible device. To charge the GBX75 itself from a phone, laptop or power bank, it says to make sure the GBX75 is powered off before connecting.
The box lists do not fully agree. NOCO's specs page lists the GBX75, integrated HD precision battery clamps, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a 24-inch 12V to USB-C cable and a microfiber storage bag. Amazon's bullet lists the jump starter, clamps, a USB-C charging cable and the bag with no 12V lead, while Amazon's separate components field does mention a 12V USB-C fast charger. The guide meanwhile says the most effective way to charge is the NOCO Auto Charger, which it states is not included and which requires the vehicle to be running to fast charge. Check what actually arrives.
Keeping it ready, and the warranty's conditions
The guide says an unused product will discharge over time and must be recharged before use, to disconnect it from power sources when not in use, and to avoid leaving it on charge for more than a week at a time because overcharging may shorten battery life. It gives no specific storage recharge interval — no 'every three months' figure — so set your own reminder for a unit that lives in the car.
On accessories and charging gear, NOCO does not recommend third-party USB-C cables and power adapters, says it is not responsible for damage or injury from using them, and states the product is only approved for use with NOCO accessories. It also says modifications void the warranty, and that the internal battery should be replaced only by NOCO.
The warranty text in the guide gives one year from date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship, with repair or replacement at NOCO's discretion and subject to NOCO's technical support analysis, and liability expressly limited to replacement or repair. It states the warranty is made solely for the benefit of the original purchaser from NOCO or a NOCO-approved reseller or distributor and is not assignable or transferable, and that to assert a claim the purchaser must first request and obtain a return merchandise authorisation number. That passage continued past the page we read, so check the full printed terms in your box. NOCO's specs page describes the same period as a 1 Year Hassle-Free Warranty, and Amazon's field says 1 Year Limited. Because coverage follows the original purchaser, check the seller and the condition of the offer you select.
