What this mower is and what is in the box
The DB8621S is a 21-inch, gas-powered walk-behind mower with rear-wheel self-propel and a 170cc four-stroke OHV engine. PowerSmart's product page names the engine model as RV170-S and lists mulching, side discharge and rear bagging as its three clipping modes.
The manual's packing list includes the side discharge chute, the upper handle tube, the grass catcher, two cable clips, a spark plug wrench, a funnel, a bottle of 10W-30 oil and the manual. The handle attaches with hand knobs.
The manual says the engine ships without oil or gasoline. It recommends 10W-30 oil, SF class, and warns against oils with additives or two-stroke oil. Follow the manual for filling and first start; this page does not repeat those steps.
Deck, heights and clipping modes
PowerSmart's product page lists a 21-inch cutting width, deck and blade, and a cold-rolled ST14 steel deck. The manual's technical data gives the cutting width as 20.5 inches. Neither document explains the half-inch difference.
Both maker documents give six cutting heights from 1.5 to 3.9 inches. The product page calls the adjustment individual, and the manual describes front and rear levers, which matches the listing's dual-lever wording. One listing field says five positions, which does not match the maker's six.
For side discharge, the manual says the rear door must be closed with the mulching adapter fitted, and that the spring-loaded side cover must never be removed. The manual also says wet grass will not mulch.
Weight, wheels and grass bag
The listing gives the weight as 59 pounds; the manual's technical data says 66.3 pounds. Neither source explains the difference, so confirm the weight with the seller if it matters for lifting or storage.
Both maker documents list 7-inch front and 8-inch rear wheels. The product page gives the grass bag as 60 litres, and the manual gives the grass catcher as 1.4 bushels.
The fuel tank holds 0.21 gallons and the engine oil capacity is 13.5 fluid ounces, per the manual. The manual also lists a shipping box of 32.9 by 22.6 by 16.5 inches.
Running it: engine, drive and mowing limits
The listing mentions an auto choke and recoil start. The manual describes a recoil start with a primer bulb for cold starts, and a start/stop control. The two descriptions differ, so check with PowerSmart which your unit has. A separate drive control bar engages the self-propel drive.
The manual says the throttle is preset for bagging and mulching, and that changing the engine's governed speed voids the engine warranty. It advises never cutting more than 2 inches of grass in one pass and keeping the underside of the deck clean.

Maintenance schedule and storage
The manual's schedule calls for an oil check before each use and the first oil change at 5 hours of use or the first month. After that the change interval is 50 hours or six months, or every 25 hours under heavy load or high outside temperatures.
The air filter is cleaned every 50 hours or six months, more often in dusty conditions, and the fuel line is checked every two years. The manual recommends having blade sharpening, balancing and mounting done at an authorized service center, and a blade check once a year.
For storage of 30 days or more, the manual says to drain the fuel, and it warns that the limited warranty does not cover fuel-system damage caused by neglected storage preparation. Follow its storage section; this page does not reproduce the steps.
Two-year warranty and how claims work
The manual's warranty is two years from purchase for the original purchaser, for home use. If the mower is used for professional or commercial services, coverage drops to 90 days.
Normal wear parts are excluded, and the manual names drive belts, blades and grass bags. Carburettor problems caused by stale or contaminated fuel are also excluded.
To claim, the manual says you must return the entire product with transportation prepaid, along with a legible copy of the original receipt showing the purchase date and seller. It states the warranty is void without receipts.
