What the Advanced HQ Max Twin is
The listing sells this ASIN as the VTech Advanced HQ Max Twin, and its model field reads Advanced HQ Max Twin rather than a number. The quick start guide attached to the listing covers two versions and gives the model numbers: 346700 for the Advanced HQ Max and 346800 for the Twin. The guide says the nameplate is on the bottom of the baby unit base, which is where to look for 346800.
According to the guide's box contents, the Twin comes with two baby-unit sets where the single-camera version has one. The listing's contents field names two baby units (cameras), AC adaptors, a parent unit and a quick start guide. The guide says the parent unit and baby units come already paired.
Wall-mounting screws and anchors are not in the box. The guide's mounting page lists two screws and two anchors as items you need to buy separately, and says the right type depends on what your wall is made of.
A direct link with no app or Wi-Fi
The listing describes an encrypted 2.4 GHz FHSS connection between cameras and parent unit, with no internet, no cloud and no app. The guide's status icons describe a Direct mode in which the parent unit and baby unit connect to each other directly, with signal bars that turn red when there is no connection.
VTech's support FAQ says its newer stand-alone cameras cannot be added to the parent viewer of an existing VTech baby monitor because the systems are not expandable. It suggests adding a separate stand-alone camera to the MyVTech Baby app instead, which is a different product from this parent-unit system.
Range is given as 1,000 feet in the listing and in the product title on VTech's support page. The guide's specification table does not give a figure; it says the nominal effective range is the maximum power allowed by the FCC and IC, and that actual range may vary with conditions at the time of use.
Screen, split view and camera controls
The guide gives the parent unit a 7-inch colour IPS LCD at 1024 by 600 pixels. On the Twin it offers three viewing modes: Single, Patrol, which switches between the cameras every 10 seconds, and Split screen showing both at once.
The guide's parent unit overview shows arrow keys that move the camera and a Zoom key. The listing gives 360-degree pan, 122-degree tilt and up to 4x zoom with a 110-degree lens, but the same listing's table also shows a zoom ratio of 2x, and the guide we read does not state pan, tilt or zoom figures.
The guide lists a POWER and LCD OFF key that turns the screen off, a Screen Off Timer of 1, 3 or 5 minutes, and an AUTO setting that wakes the screen when sound passes a chosen level. VTech's FAQ confirms that pressing POWER | LCD OFF turns off the screen while sound continues, and any key turns it back on.
Battery and charging as the guide states them
The guide specifies a 3.7 V, 5000 mAh, 18.5 Wh lithium-ion battery, described as internal and not user replaceable. It asks you to charge for 12 hours before first use and notes that charging is slower while the unit is switched on.
The listing claims up to 12 hours of continuous video or 18 hours of audio-only monitoring per charge. The guide does not give a runtime figure; it says standby time varies with the sensitivity level you set, your actual use and the age of the battery.
The guide lists a 5 V DC, 1 A output for each baby unit adapter and 5 V DC, 2 A for the parent unit adapter, and asks you to use only the adapters supplied. The listing's contents field also names the AC adaptors among the items in the box.
Night light, sounds and alerts
Each camera has a night light key, a light sensor, infrared LEDs, a microphone, a speaker and a temperature sensor, according to the guide's baby unit overview. The guide's menu offers 10 night light colours with an AUTO brightness option and a 15, 30 or 60 minute timer or always on. The listing instead describes a 7-colour night light.
The menu lists five melodies and five soothing sounds with their own timer, matching the listing's five lullabies and five ambient sounds. Talkback uses the TALK key on the parent unit, which also has a three-level sound light in green, amber and red.
Alert settings in the guide cover motion detection with three sensitivity levels, temperature limits you set, low battery and lost link. The listing's table gives the alert type as audio only, which does not match the guide's menu, and neither source explains the difference. These are VTech's feature names, and we make no claim about how they perform.
Placement, care and the one-year warranty
Read the guide's safety and positioning pages before setting up. They include cord, placement and mounting-height instructions and a statement that the monitor is not a medical monitor or a substitute for adult supervision. The guide also suggests keeping the monitor at least 3 feet from routers, microwaves, phones and computers to avoid interference.
For care, the guide says to wipe with a soft damp cloth, avoid solvents and household sprays, never immerse the units, and keep them out of direct sunlight and moisture. It gives an operating and storage range of 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
The limited warranty in the guide runs one year from purchase for products bought and used in the United States and Canada, with replacement at VTech's option as the remedy. It requires a sales receipt naming the model and date, the original package and contents, and excludes misuse, liquid damage, unauthorised repair and non-VTech accessories.
