The listing names this ASIN the Smart HQ Max Twin and gives that name in its model and part number fields. VTech's quick start guide covers two versions and assigns model numbers: 356500 for the single-camera Smart HQ Max and 356600 for the Twin.
VTech's product page lists what is included: 1 parent unit, 2 baby units, 2 wall mounts, 4 screws, 4 wall anchors, 3 AC adapters and a quick start guide. The listing's contents field names a parent unit, two baby units, two wall mount brackets, the guide, screws and anchors.
The guide's mounting page adds a caveat: the screws and anchors you need depend on your wall, and you may need to buy them separately. That sits beside VTech's page and the listing, which both name screws and anchors among the box contents. The guide calls for a 7/32 inch drill bit for the bracket holes.
Parent unit first, Wi-Fi and the app optional
The guide says the monitor works in Direct mode by default, so the parent unit shows video out of the box. A separate Wi-Fi mode uses a 2.4 GHz home network so you can watch through the MyVTech Baby Plus app.
One point to plan for: the guide states that the monitor needs a 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi connection to receive firmware updates, and VTech says it highly recommends setting up Wi-Fi. If you intend to keep it offline entirely, you give up those updates.
App requirements in the guide are Android 9.0 or later, excluding 32-bit Android devices, or iOS 14 or later, with Bluetooth and Location turned on during setup. The guide describes Camera Sharing through an Invite People option, and includes router security tips such as WPA2-PSK with AES and disabling UPnP.
Screen, cameras and the zoom figures
The guide specifies a 7-inch colour IPS LCD at 1024 by 600 pixels. On the Twin it offers Single view, Patrol, which switches cameras every 10 seconds, and Split screen showing both cameras. The listing's table gives a 360-degree pan and a 105-degree tilt.
VTech's product page lists a 2K CMOS sensor, up to 24x zoom, 1080p remote access with HQ local viewing, a 360-degree panoramic view and a 105-degree vertical view. Its comparison table gives a 135-degree camera viewing angle and describes the resolution as 1080p in the app.
The listing puts zoom at 24x from the parent unit and 30x from the app. VTech's product page says up to 24x and the guide gives no figure, so the 30x app figure appears only in the listing.
Battery, power and range
The guide specifies a 3.7 V, 5000 mAh, 18.5 Wh lithium-ion battery, internal and not user replaceable. The guide gives the baby unit adapter output as 5 V DC, 1.5 A, and the parent unit adapter as 5 V DC, 2 A; VTech's page lists three AC adapters in the box.
The listing gives 12 hours of video streaming and 18 hours of audio-only use. Neither the guide nor VTech's product page states a runtime figure, so those numbers rest on the listing alone.
The guide does not give a range in feet. It says the nominal effective range is the maximum power allowed by the FCC and IC and varies with conditions, and its positioning page notes that obstacles can weaken the Wi-Fi signal.
Night light, sounds and alerts
Each baby unit has a Night Light key, and VTech's page describes a touch, adaptive, dimmable night light. The menu lets you pick a colour, set AUTO brightness and a 15, 30 or 60 minute timer or always on, and the guide says custom colours are available through the app.
Colour counts differ between sources. VTech's product page describes a 7-colour night light and the listing's table says 6 colours. The guide lists five melodies and five soothing sounds, matching the listing's counts.
Alert settings in the guide cover motion detection with Low, Medium and High sensitivity, temperature limits you set, low battery and lost link. VTech's product page adds motion detection with recording in the app. These are VTech's feature names, and we make no claim about how they perform.
Placement, care and the one-year warranty
Read the guide's safety and positioning pages before setting up. They give minimum distances from the baby and between the parent and baby units, a mounting-height limit, cord warnings and a note that the monitor is an aid, not a substitute for adult supervision or a medical monitor.
For care, the guide says to clean with a soft damp cloth, never immerse the units or use solvents or household sprays, keep them out of direct sunlight and moisture, and use and store them between 32 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Its FAQ explains that the black and white picture at night is the infrared night vision switching on.
The limited warranty in the guide runs one year from purchase for products bought and used in the United States and Canada, with replacement at VTech's option. It requires a sales receipt naming the model and purchase date, the original package and contents, and excludes misuse, liquid damage, unauthorised repair and non-VTech accessories.
