DEWALT jig saw buying guide
DEWALT jig saws: cordless or corded, top handle or barrel grip
Choose by power source, then by grip. DEWALT's cordless DCS334 and barrel-grip DCS335 are brushless XR saws (DEWALT gives the DCS335 up to 3,200 strokes per minute and lists the DCS334's maximum speed as 3,200 rpm); the DCS331 is the brushed 20V MAX saw at up to 3,000. The corded DW317 (5.5 amp) and DW331 (6.5 amp) run up to 3,100. All five have 4-position orbital action, and the four product descriptions that name a blade type say T-shank.
Linked option, barrel grip on 20V MAX: DEWALT lists the brushless DCS335 at up to 3,200 SPM with an LED and variable-speed trigger and dial; battery and charger are sold separately. Check the DEWALT DCS335B barrel-grip jig saw (tool only) on Amazon
Prepared from DEWALT's product pages for five jig saws, read October 10, 2026. We have not tested these saws. Figures are DEWALT's own. The DCS335B link goes to an Amazon listing checked on October 10, 2026 as new, sold by Amazon.com and in stock; offers change, so check that the listing says DCS335B. The other four saws are not linked because we have not confirmed an Amazon offer for them.

What the five share and where they differ
- Shared: 4-position orbital action and a keyless lever-action blade clamp on all five; T-shank blades on the four product descriptions that name a blade type (the DW317 description does not). Each page lists a 3-year limited warranty, 1 year of free service and a 90-day satisfaction guarantee.
- Bevel: the DCS334, DCS335, DCS331 and DW331 have detents at 0°, 15°, 30° and 45° with a keyless shoe on the cordless saws. The DW317 page names bevels from 0° to 45° with detents at 0° and 45°.
- Light: the DCS334 and DCS335 list an LED. The other three pages do not.
- Batteries: the DCS331 page says it works with all 20V MAX batteries and chargers. None of the three cordless saws includes one.
For blades, see our jigsaw blade guide.
Reading DEWALT's figures
- Speed: the DCS335, DCS331, DW317 and DW331 descriptions give strokes per minute. The DCS334 description gives none; its specification list shows a maximum speed of 3,200, labelled rpm.
- Weights and lengths: the specification lists give "assembled product" weights and lengths that we did not use. The DW331 list also shows 230 V, and its description gives no voltage, so check the plate before you buy.
When to skip one
- Skip the cordless saws if you have no DEWALT 20V MAX batteries and charger; all three are bare tools.
- Skip the DW317 if you need the 15° and 30° bevel stops; its page names only 0° and 45°.
- Skip U-shank blades for the four saws whose descriptions name T-shank; check the DW317 manual for its blade type.
