What the G410 is: a doorbell and a hub sold as a pair

The Aqara G410 is two devices: an outdoor doorbell and an indoor chime that is also a Zigbee and Thread hub. The manual's specifications include a block for model CH-C09E or CH-C09D whose figures, six AA batteries and 2048 by 1536 video, describe the doorbell unit, matching this listing's CH-C09E. The FAQ says the hub can take up to 40 Zigbee (Aqara) or Matter devices.

The pairing is fixed. The manual says the doorbell and chime are paired at the factory, cannot be unbound by the user and cannot be mixed with other doorbells. The FAQ adds that the doorbell reaches your network through Wi-Fi forwarded by the chime, so the doorbell cannot be used without it. After-sale service, per the manual, requires returning the full set.

The manual's box list is the doorbell, a 20 degree wedge bracket and its M3 by 10 mm screws, the chime-hub and its cable, six AA batteries, a Phillips screwdriver, and M3 by 20 mm wall screws with 32 mm anchors. A microSD card is not included, and the card slot is on the indoor chime rather than the outdoor unit.

Power: six AA batteries or a 12-24V supply

The doorbell runs on six LR6 AA alkaline batteries, or on a wired supply of 12-24V AC at 0.2A or 12-24V DC at 0.5A. The FAQ says the voltage must not exceed 24V, and that if you want wired power you need a transformer to 12-24V. Note that 12V is the floor here, so check an older low-voltage doorbell transformer before assuming it will do.

Wired power does not charge the batteries. The manual says that with both fitted the doorbell uses the external supply, stays active and never sleeps. On batteries it defaults to a low-power mode, sleeping until someone approaches or rings, and battery life depends directly on how often it wakes. Wiring connections are covered in the manual; if you are unsure, use an electrician.

On battery choice, both documents say to replace all six at once. The FAQ allows 1.5V rechargeable lithium AAs but says 1.2V NiMH cells give inaccurate power readings. A Power Saving Mode turns off the approach sensor, so the doorbell wakes only when the button is pressed or you open live view in the app.

Weather: not fully waterproof, and where to mount it

This is the caveat to weigh first. Aqara's FAQ states: "The doorbell is not fully waterproof by design." It recommends installing it at an entrance with an eave or porch for protection. Neither Aqara document gives an IP rating. Amazon's details show both "Not Water Resistant" and a rating of more than IPX3, so rely on Aqara's porch advice rather than either field.

The manual's operating range for the doorbell is -18 to 50 C (-0.4 to 122 F) at up to 95 percent humidity without condensation; the indoor chime is 0 to 40 C. The FAQ says the app's high and low temperature alarm reads the ambient temperature at the doorbell and warns before heat or cold makes the batteries fail.

For placement, the manual suggests 1.4 to 1.5 m above the ground, the wall beside a metal door rather than the door itself, and the chime within 10 m horizontally of the entrance wall and within 20 m of the router. The FAQ says placing the doorbell more than 10 m from the chime, or with obstructions between them, raises battery consumption.

Camera, radar wake-up and night vision

The manual gives 2048 by 1536 video from a 4:3 sensor with a 175 degree diagonal view; its introduction says 176 degrees. Ten 940 nm infrared lights handle night vision. Amazon's details field says Night Color, which neither Aqara document supports, and the FAQ says face detection accuracy may drop under infrared night vision.

Resolution depends on the platform. The FAQ says 1536p is available in the Aqara Home app alone, but once the doorbell is added to Apple Home it is limited to 1600 by 1200, and that limit then applies inside Aqara Home too.

Wake-up uses a radar approach sensor, per the manual. The FAQ gives its range as 1 to 5 m with 100 degrees of horizontal and vertical coverage, and lists the loitering distance setting among the things that affect battery life, along with keeping the app open.

Recording, detection and HomeKit

Local storage is a Class 10 or faster microSD card of up to 512 GB in the indoor chime. Face recognition runs on the doorbell itself; the FAQ says it is off by default at medium sensitivity. Package detection is not offered in Aqara Home at all, and the FAQ says it becomes available only through HomeKit with an Apple home hub.

For HomeKit Secure Video, the manual says a 10-day recording history is kept in iCloud, with one camera on a 50GB plan, up to five on 200GB, or unlimited on 2TB, and recordings not counting against storage.

Other details from the documents: custom audio must be MP3 files of no more than 2M each, with up to five files; doorbell automations such as ringing the chime can run locally; and the manual's excessive-force sensor alarm is off by default.

Warranty conditions and listing conflicts

The manual contains one specific warranty condition worth knowing before you open anything: warranty is not given if the tamper-evident label on the screw inside the battery compartment is torn, damaged or destroyed. No warranty length is stated in the documents read, and Aqara's website warranty terms were not read for this page.

On Wi-Fi, the listing says 2.4 and 5 GHz. The manual's specification block gives the doorbell unit 2.4 GHz only and puts dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread and Bluetooth on the other block, which carries the USB-C input and microSD slot of the chime-hub. The FAQ says the doorbell relies on Wi-Fi forwarded by the chime.

Amazon's details also give the voltage as 12 volts, where the manual gives a 12-24V range, and list a USB-C to USB-A cable and two user manuals where the manual's own list shows a cable for the chime. Check the box contents on arrival and rely on the manual for the power range.
