Ring Wired Doorbell 4K Pro (formerly Wired Doorbell Pro 3rd Gen), Deep Silver

One doorbell, two names

The Amazon title calls this the Ring Wired Doorbell 4K Pro, while the technical details on the same listing still say Wired Doorbell Pro, 3rd Gen. Ring's product name changes article explains the overlap: on August 5, 2026, Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) was renamed Wired Doorbell 4K Pro, and Ring says the hardware, firmware and features did not change.

Ring also says boxes bought before the change may carry the old name. So a carton that reads Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) is, by Ring's own account, the same device the app now lists as Wired Doorbell 4K Pro. This listing is the Deep Silver finish, one doorbell, in the wired configuration.

Power: a real doorbell transformer, or PoE+

This is not a battery doorbell. Ring's support page lists power as hardwired to an existing doorbell or PoE+, and gives the transformer range as 16 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 10VA to 40VA. The listing adds that 30 to 40VA is recommended, and that 24VDC at 12W, a Ring plug-in adapter or a Ring hardwired transformer, neither included, are also options.

The listing rules out halogen and garden-lighting transformers by name, and Ring's support page warns that incompatible power sources can damage the device and cause electric shock. Check the voltage and VA rating printed on your existing transformer before buying, because Ring's stated floor for this model is 16 volts.

The PoE+ version ships with a USB-C to PoE adapter instead of the Chime Kit Mini, according to Ring's box list. This ASIN is the Wired version, so plan on doorbell wiring unless you buy the PoE+ variant.

The Chime Kit Mini is not optional

Ring's hardwired installation article says the included Chime Kit Mini must be fitted inside your chime, or the chime must be bypassed as the article describes. If the home has more than one chime, the extra chimes must be bypassed. That is the main thing to know before assuming every existing chime in the house will keep working.

The same article's wiring steps begin with shutting off power at the breaker, and it advises an electrician if you are uncomfortable with the wiring; do the work from Ring's steps or hire an electrician. It lists an optional 1/4 inch masonry bit for stucco, brick or concrete, and says Ring does not recommend stacking more than two wedge or corner mounts. Follow Ring's article or manual for the full sequence.

The box, per both the listing and Ring's page, includes a Corner Kit, mounting plate, installation hardware and security sticker. Ring's page adds a push pin and the Chime Kit Mini; a Wedge Kit is a separate accessory.

What 4K means here: two different figures

Ring's support page gives the video as 4K at 2880 by 2880 with a head-to-toe view, and the field of view as 140 degrees horizontal by 140 degrees vertical. The listing agrees on the 140 by 140 figure and adds a 1:1 aspect ratio, up to 10x Enhanced Zoom and Low-Light Sight.

Ring's name changes article, however, says the 4K in a product name means the device records at 3840 by 2160. Those are two different pixel counts from the same company for the same doorbell. We report both; if the exact recording resolution matters to you, ask Ring which applies.

Bandwidth is part of the picture. Both the listing and Ring's page ask for a minimum upload speed of 15 Mbps for 4K, and Ring's footnote says video quality varies with internet bandwidth and device temperature. Connectivity is Wi-Fi 6, dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Size, weather and conflicting small print

Both documents give the body as 1.95 by 1.02 by 5.45 inches. Ring's support page follows that with a metric figure of 12.8 by 6.2 by 2.8 centimetres, which does not match the inch figures; the listing's metric conversion is 4.95 by 2.6 by 13.84 centimetres. Measure your door frame against the inch figures.

Operating temperature is another small conflict. The listing says -4 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit and carries a note about direct sunlight. Ring's support page says -4 to 118.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Neither document gives an IP rating; the listing only says weather resistant.

Subscription features and warranty

Ring's support page footnotes package, person and vehicle detection, 24/7 recording, Continuous Live View, Extended Live View and Advanced Pre-Roll as needing a compatible Ring subscription. The listing's disclaimers add that cloud videos are kept up to 180 days, that Quick Replies recordings need a subscription, and that Video Descriptions are unavailable in Illinois.

Familiar Faces is listed as not available in Illinois, Texas or Portland, Oregon. Motion Warning, Quick Replies, Privacy Zones, Alexa and Sidewalk appear on Ring's page without a subscription footnote. The listing notes Amazon Sidewalk is on by default unless you previously turned it off, and can be switched off.

Warranty, per the listing, is a one-year limited warranty and service. Ring's page links a software security updates statement for the device but we did not read it, so no update period is stated here.
