The Amazon title says Ring Wired Doorbell 2K Plus, while the technical details on the same listing say Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen). Ring's product name changes article says Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) was renamed Wired Doorbell 2K Plus on August 5, 2026, and that hardware, firmware and features did not change.

This listing is the Nickel Silver finish with one doorbell. The bullets name three other finishes, Polished Night Navy, Polished Sandstone and Polished Mocha. Ring warns that boxes bought before the rename may still show the older name, so either label on the carton refers to the same device by Ring's account.

Power needs a 16 to 24 volt transformer

This is a wired doorbell with no battery listed. Ring's support page gives the requirement as a doorbell transformer rated 16 to 24 VAC or 24VDC, 10 to 40VA maximum, 50/60Hz, with 30 to 40VA recommended for a Ring hardwired transformer. Halogen and garden-lighting transformers are ruled out by both sources.

The listing adds that a Ring plug-in adapter or Ring hardwired transformer can be used, neither included, and Ring's page lists the Plug-In Adapter (2nd Generation) as a compatible accessory. Ring warns that incompatible power sources can damage the device and cause electric shock, so check the rating printed on your transformer first.

Chime Kit Mini: fit it, or bypass the chime

Both the listing and Ring's support page put a Chime Kit Mini in the box with a Corner Kit, mounting plate, installation hardware, setup guide and security sticker. Ring's hardwired installation article says the Chime Kit Mini must be fitted inside the chime, or the chime must be bypassed using the included wire nut as the article describes.

If the house has more than one chime, Ring says the additional chimes must be bypassed. The article advises shutting off power at the breaker first and calling an electrician if the wiring is damaged or unsafe, or if you are unsure. Follow Ring's article or manual for the full sequence, or hire an electrician.

Ring lists an optional 1/4 inch masonry bit for stucco, brick or concrete, and says it does not recommend stacking more than two wedge or corner mounts. A Wedge Kit is a separate accessory; the Corner Kit is included.

Video figures that do not line up

Zoom is stated two ways on one listing: the title says 6x Enhanced Zoom, while the bullet says up to 4x Enhanced Zoom. Ring's support page lists no zoom figure. Both sources agree on a 140 by 140 degree field of view, Low-Light Sight and Adaptive Night Vision.

Ring's support page gives the video as 2K QHD at 1920 by 1920 with HDR and head-to-toe framing. Ring's name changes article says the 2K label means recording at 2560 by 1440. We report both figures rather than choosing; if the exact resolution or zoom level matters, confirm with Ring.

Ring asks for at least 10 Mbps upload for 2K, and says video quality varies with bandwidth and device temperature. Wi-Fi is dual band: the listing says Wi-Fi 6 at 2.4 and 5 GHz, and Ring's page lists 802.11 b/g/n/ac at 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Size and temperature: check the numbers

The listing gives 2.11 by 1.18 by 5.22 inches without wall mount, or 5.36 by 3.00 by 13.26 centimetres. Ring's support page repeats those centimetre figures but pairs them with 1.95 by 1.02 by 5.45 inches, which do not match. If trim width is tight, measure against both sets.

Operating temperature differs too. The listing gives -4 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit and carries a note about direct sunlight. Ring's support page shows 4 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit alongside the same -20 degrees Celsius. Neither document gives an IP rating.

Subscription features, Sidewalk and warranty

Ring's support page footnotes package, person and vehicle detection, Extended Live View and Advanced Color Pre-Roll as needing a compatible Ring subscription. The listing adds that Video Descriptions need a subscription and are unavailable in Illinois, that Familiar Faces is unavailable in Illinois, Texas and Portland, Oregon, and that cloud videos are kept up to 180 days.

Quick Replies, Privacy Zones, Alexa and Sidewalk compatibility appear on Ring's feature list without the subscription footnote, although the listing says reviewing Quick Replies recordings needs a subscription. The listing notes Amazon Sidewalk is on unless you previously turned it off, and that it can be switched off.

The listing states a one-year limited warranty and service. Ring links a software security updates statement, which we did not read, so no update period is stated here.
