What this is and which documents actually cover it

Amazon lists this as the Casa Leo Automatic Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box, sold by the Smarty Pear store, with model number and manufacturer part number 3746 and UPC 860005563746. The product itself is called Leo's Loo Too. The user manual's specification page gives the model as LLT and the copyright as PurLife Brands Inc. of Palo Alto, California, made in China. The brand's own site now sits at casaleopet.com; smartypear.com redirects there.

The listing attaches three documents, which is unusually generous: a full 24-page user manual, a two-page Quick Setup Guide and a two-page Quick Reference Guide. Between them they cover setup, the button and light codes, the app settings, the error notifications, the cleaning routine and the specification table, so you can check almost every claim before you buy.

The box contents in the manual are the machine, a power adapter with a six-foot anti-chew cord, ten drawstring waste drawer liners, two charcoal air filters pre-installed beneath the drawer, the Quick Setup Guide, the Quick Reference Manual and the user manual. The named components are a removable rotating drum, a sifter, a silicone litter bladder, four weight sensors, a removable top cover, the base, the waste litter drawer, a power connector, the carbon filters, a replaceable silicone step and the POWER button.

Cat weight: the manual and the listing do not agree

Read this before anything else. The manual's Safety Instructions say, in these words: "Do not use this machine in Automatic Mode for cats weighing 3lbs or less." The Amazon bullet says something different: "DESIGNED FOR CATS WEIGHING 1–20 LB — Suitable for most kittens and adult cats from 1 to 20 lb." A one-pound kitten is well inside the range the listing advertises and squarely inside the range the manual excludes from Automatic Mode. We are not going to reconcile that for you. If you have a kitten, treat the manual's line as the operating limit and ask Casa Leo support before relying on automatic cycling.

The top of the range is stated the same way in two places and differently in a third. Casa Leo's product page says the drum accommodates cats up to 20 lbs (9 kg) and the Amazon bullet says the same. The manual's specification table, however, lists "Max Weight Capacity 55 lb (25 kg)", while Amazon's details field lists "Weight Capacity Maximum 20 pounds". Those are the figures as printed; we do not know what each one is measuring and we are not going to guess.

The machine weighs cats as a feature, and the manual publishes its accuracy: scale accuracy ± 1 lb (0.5 kg). If you are buying this partly to track a cat's weight, that tolerance is the number to judge it by.

Clay clumping litter only, and the warranty depends on it

This is the strictest litter rule of any box in this category we have read. The manual's safety page says to "Use only small particle clay clumping cat litter that absorbs moisture." The Quick Setup Guide says "ONLY use clay clumping litter." And Casa Leo's product page goes further: "Use only 100% clay-clumping litter. Other litters void warranty and 90-day trial." If you use tofu, pine, paper, crystal or wood litter, the maker's own page says you have given up your cover.

How much to add is also specified. The setup step says add up to 2.2 gallons (10.0 L) or 13 pounds (5.9 kg) of clumping clay litter, and not to fill beyond the MAX indicator sticker, because overfilling causes excess litter to dump into the waste drawer. The manual's specification table separately prints "Max Litter Capacity 1.5 gal (6 L)", which does not match the 2.2 gallon setup figure. Amazon's bullet uses 1.5 gal (6 L) to describe the waste drawer. Take the setup instruction and the MAX sticker on the unit as your guide when filling, and treat the table's figure as another number that does not line up.

Casa Leo recommends a particular brand on its product page while saying any brand of clay-clumping litter is fine. We are not repeating a brand recommendation as advice; check the litter aisle for "clay clumping, small particle" and read the bag.

Where it can stand, and how much room it needs

The placement rules are short and firm. The manual says to place the machine on a dry, solid and level surface, and that soft or uneven surfaces will impede the weight sensors from operating properly. The setup page says "no carpets". The Quick Setup Guide adds a clearance figure the manual does not: "Keep a minimum of 1" from walls and furniture." It is also indoor use only, out of direct sunlight, and the base must not be soaked in water.

The published size is 22 x 24 x 27.6 inches (56 x 61 x 70 cm) in the manual's specification table. Amazon's overview table gives 27.6"L x 22"W x 24"H and Amazon's expanded details give "24 x 22 x 27.5 inches" — the same three numbers arranged differently, so the footprint should be the same either way, but check the orientation against your alcove.

Weight and material also differ between documents. The manual lists net product weight 27.5 lb (12.5 kg) and gross 37.4 lb (17 kg) and the material as PP; Amazon lists the item weight as 30 pounds and the material type as Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). These are conflicting figures in the sources, not a correction on our part. The manual also publishes annual energy figures: 53 kWh per year operating and 9 kWh per year in standby.

Sensors, button codes and what the app changes

The manual names three detection systems under the heading Triple Safety Protection: a radar system it calls a radar wall, which it says stops the Loo rotating when it detects a cat nearby; four weight sensors in the bottom, which the manual says only allow a cleaning cycle to start when they indicate the drum is empty; and an anti-pinch sensor at the top of the waste drawer, which the manual says stops the machine immediately and reverses rotation when a foreign object is detected in the waste chute. The error notification list carries matching faults for the weight sensors, the radar system and the motor. These are the maker's descriptions of what the parts do, and we make no claim about outcomes.

Everything on the unit runs from one button. Press POWER for two seconds to turn on or off with one beep, five seconds to enter pairing mode with three beeps, a short press to run or pause, and a double press to change modes. The light codes matter: steady white is Automatic Mode, steady red is Manual Mode, slowly flashing red is a full waste drawer, quickly flashing red is a hardware error, quickly flashing white means ready to pair, slowly flashing white is a connection failure, steady blue is a UV cycle running and slowly flashing blue is weight sensor calibration.

The app adds the settings that change how the box behaves: switching between Automatic and Manual cleaning, a time delay before the cycle starts after the cat leaves, the number of drum rotations per cycle, scheduled daily cleanings, a Sleep Mode that suspends automatic and timed cleanings, scheduled sterilisation, a light on/off for the POWER button, a filter and litter replacement countdown, and a factory reset. The manual says the box works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks, and Casa Leo's page says it syncs with Google Assistant and Alexa. Pairing needs the app, an account and the five-second button press.

The manual describes a UV cycle that projects UV rays into the waste drawer after the cat exits. Casa Leo and the manual both publish an effectiveness figure for that cycle without stating test conditions in the documents we read, so we do not repeat the figure here. We report it as the maker's claim and neither verify it nor draw any conclusion about health from it.

Emptying, monthly cleaning and the warranty route

The waste drawer is 1.5 gallons (6 L) sealed, and the manual's safety page sets a floor rather than a target: "Empty the waste drawer frequently; no less than once per week." When it fills, the POWER light turns red and blinks slowly and the machine stops rotating. The routine is to pull out the drawer, replace the liner bag, top off the litter in the drum, reinsert the drawer and short-press the POWER button twice to reset. The Quick Reference Guide's version of the same steps has you power the machine off for two seconds first, so follow whichever card is in front of you and expect a small difference in wording.

The monthly job is bigger. The app sends a recommended-cleaning notification, and the manual says to replace all litter and the carbon air filters every 30 days; the Quick Setup Guide says a complete litter and filter replacement plus a thorough cleaning monthly. The cleaning method is specific: detach the hood, remove the drum from the base, vacuum the base and wipe it with cleaning solution and a cloth, and do NOT use water on the base because it will damage the electronics. The drum itself is emptied, washed out with soap and water and dried thoroughly before going back.

There is one more thing the manual asks you to do on day one: note the product registration information on the bottom of the device before you start, and the Quick Setup Guide suggests photographing it. The specification page says the complete limited warranty, warnings and cautions live on the maker's site, and the Quick Reference Guide says to register the unit there for warranty coverage. Amazon's details field says "1 Year Manufacturer"; Casa Leo's product page includes a 1-year warranty and offers a 3-year extended option as a paid choice, and mentions a 90-day trial alongside the litter condition. Confirm the seller, the condition and the registration route on the offer you actually select.
