What is in the box

DEWALT's includes list names a carbide-tipped 7-1/4 in. blade, a blade wrench and the instruction manual. The Amazon listing's title and model field both read DWE575, and the saw is corded, so there is no battery to buy.

The blade wrench stores underneath the main handle, per the manual. DEWALT lists a Toughcord meant to resist cord pull-outs, and the manual says a dust extraction port is available at extra cost.

Weight, motor and switch

DEWALT's page calls the DWE575 one of the lightest saws in its class at 8.8 lbs, with a 15 amp motor. Its page data separately lists an assembled product weight of 12.35 lbs without saying what that includes, and a maximum speed of 4,800 rpm.

The manual says the trigger has no provision to be locked on. Its electric brake section is headed DWE575SB, a different model, and DEWALT's DWE575 page lists no brake.

Depth and bevel

Maximum depth of cut is 2-9/16 in. at 90 degrees, per the manual. You raise the depth lever to move the foot plate, and the manual suggests exposing about half a tooth below the work, which lets the shoe support the blade and limits twisting and pinching.

DEWALT's page and manual give a bevel range of 0 to 57 degrees: the page lists stops at 45 and 22.5 degrees, and the manual's quadrant is marked in 1 degree steps. The Amazon listing's bullets say 53 degrees; we use DEWALT's figure.

Wood only

The manual says the saw is designed for professional wood cutting and warns not to cut metal, plastic, concrete, masonry or fiber cement, or any glass or tile. It calls for blades designed for wood cutting and no abrasive wheels.

The kerf indicator on the front of the shoe lines up with the left (inner) side of the blade, so the kerf falls to the right of your pencil line; the manual says to guide so the kerf falls in the waste. DEWALT also lists an anti-snag ball bearing lower guard and a dust blower that clears the line of sight.

Blade changes and warranty

Blade changes use the blade lock and the wrench. The clamping screw has right-hand threads and turns clockwise to tighten, and the manual warns never to engage the blade lock while the saw is running.

DEWALT's page gives a three-year limited warranty, one year of free service and a 90-day satisfaction guarantee. The manual's three-year warranty covers defects due to faulty materials or workmanship, and excludes normal wear, tool abuse and accessories.
