ECOVACS GOAT A2000 LiDAR PRO Robot Lawn Mower
Lawns with long borders where hand trimming is the chore you want gone
The A2000 LiDAR PRO maps with a rotating 360-degree LiDAR plus a 3D time-of-flight LiDAR, so there is no wire and no antenna to install, and it carries a built-in line trimmer for edges. ECOVACS rates it for 50 per cent slopes and 400 square metres an hour, on a battery that refills in about 50 minutes.

Two LiDARs instead of a wire or an antenna
ECOVACS calls the navigation system HoloScope 360 and describes it as a dual-LiDAR arrangement: a 360-degree rotating LiDAR plus a 3D time-of-flight LiDAR. The company says that combination builds a detailed map automatically and navigates to 2 centimetre precision, including in the dark, and that setup takes one minute. The Amazon bullet makes the same point negatively: no perimeter wire and no RTK antenna to install.
Mapping can be automatic or done by remote control from the app. ECOVACS says the mower detects and remembers boundaries without physical wires, so the install job is a software one rather than a weekend of burying cable or siting a satellite mast where it can see the sky.
Obstacle avoidance is a separate system ECOVACS calls AIVI 3D, combining AI vision with the 3D time-of-flight LiDAR. It claims more than 200 types of obstacle recognised, hedgehogs among them, and avoidance at a distance of 5 centimetres, which its US page converts to 1.97 inches.
The edge trimmer is the feature that sets it apart
Most robot mowers leave a strip along walls, beds and driveways that you finish by hand. This one carries what ECOVACS calls the TruEdge Trimmer, a line trimmer built into the machine, and the company says it trims to the edge with no grass left. That claim is footnoted as ECOVACS laboratory data from tests in real lawn scenarios, so treat it as a maker claim rather than a measurement.
The trimmer is physically separate from the mowing deck and has its own dimensions in the spec panel: a trimmer unit of 10.83 by 5.91 by 6.57 inches and a trimmer cutting width of 7.09 inches. The mower's own cutting width is listed as 12.96 inches. Note that the Amazon details table gives a cutting width of 3.6 inches, which matches the maximum cutting height rather than any width ECOVACS publishes.
Trimming line is a consumable. The listing says two rolls are included, each covering approximately 3 kilometres of edging, and ECOVACS sells blade kits and a trimmer kit as accessories for this model. Neither source states how often the line or the blades need changing, so budget for both without a published interval.
Slope, speed and the numbers the two sources dispute
ECOVACS gives slope climbing as 50 per cent, which it states as 27 degrees, and barrier-crossing capability as 4 centimetres. The Amazon listing does not mention slope at all, so 50 per cent is the figure to plan against; if your lawn has a bank steeper than that, this is not the mower for it.
Mowing efficiency is given as up to 400 square metres per hour, again footnoted as ECOVACS laboratory data. The Amazon title says the mower is for lawns up to half an acre, but neither ECOVACS page we read states a maximum lawn area, so the half acre is a listing claim you should confirm with ECOVACS before buying for a large yard.
Cutting height also differs between sources. ECOVACS' global page says 3 to 9 centimetres in 1-centimetre increments, and its US page converts that to 1.18 to 3.54 inches in 0.39-inch steps, which works out to seven positions. The Amazon details table says 1.2 to 3.6 inches with five positions. Height is changed electrically from the app in either case, but do not rely on the number of steps until ECOVACS confirms it.
Power, charging and how big the machine really is
ECOVACS describes a 32-volt platform with dual blade discs, a 3.0 amp-hour lithium-ion battery and 113.4-watt fast charging that refills it in about 50 minutes. The Amazon table lists battery average life as 50 minutes, which is the charging figure rather than a runtime; neither source we read states how long the mower runs on a charge, only how fast it recharges and how much ground it covers per hour.
The spec panel gives useful physical numbers that the listing does not. Mower net weight is 39.24 pounds and the charging station is 7.28 pounds, against the listing's 59.9 pounds, which looks like a shipping weight. The mower measures 2.23 by 1.91 by 1.10 feet with the trimmer brush fitted and 2.23 by 1.77 by 1.10 feet without it, and the station is 29.16 by 21.24 by 11.76 inches.
Wheels are 8.66 inches on the drive axle and 4.33 inches at the front. ECOVACS rates the machine IPX6 and says the upgraded waterproofing means cleaning can be done with a rinse. Neither ECOVACS page nor the listing mentions a rain sensor that pauses mowing in wet weather, so ask before assuming the mower will wait out a shower.
Zones, scheduling and what the app does
ECOVACS describes a map editor that lets you add, merge, split and delete areas, and set mowing frequency per area. The listing adds no-go areas, adjustable cutting height and speed, travel paths defined between zones, and custom schedules. Neither source states a maximum number of zones, a minimum passage width between areas, or whether an account or subscription is needed beyond the ECOVACS app.
ECOVACS also markets an efficient path planning system that adapts to the shape and direction of the lawn to cut turns and overlaps. That is a description of behaviour rather than a specification, and there is no published coverage-per-pass figure to check it against.
Neither the ECOVACS pages we read nor the listing describes anti-theft features such as a PIN lock, an alarm or GPS tracking. For a machine that lives outdoors unattended, that absence is worth resolving with ECOVACS before you buy.
What is not published, and what to ask before ordering
This model has a clear gap in published documentation. ECOVACS' support page for the A2000 LiDAR PRO did not load when we checked, and its US returns and warranties page returns Page Not Found, so we have no maker statement on warranty length, exclusions or claim procedure. What the US shop page does show is that ECOVACS sells one-year and two-year extended warranties for the product, which implies a base warranty exists without saying what it is.
Three other things are missing from both sources: a blade and trimmer-line replacement interval, a winter storage procedure for the mower and the charging station, and a maximum lawn area in square metres or acres. Those are exactly the questions that decide whether a robot mower suits a particular yard and a particular climate.
Before ordering, ask ECOVACS for the standard warranty term in writing, the maximum lawn area for this model, the replacement interval and part numbers for blades and trimming line, and the storage instructions for freezing weather. Also confirm which package you are buying, since ECOVACS sells the mower alone and in bundles with a garage, a blade kit or both, and the Amazon offer may not match.
