Google's Store opens its Nest Doorbell (wired, 3rd gen) configuration page for SKU GA09967-US, offering Snow, Hazel and Linen; that page does not say which colour the SKU is, and the Snow finish comes from the listing. Both Google spec documents list the same three colours.

The box, per Google's Store and help article, holds the doorbell, a base plate, a 20 degree wedge, a chime connector, a wire connector, a hex key, two wall screws, two wall anchors, two spacers, an extra security screw, a window decal, a quick start guide and a safety and warranty document. The listing's own contents list names the same core parts.

Power: a 16-24VAC doorbell transformer, or the adapter

Google says the doorbell must be connected to a 16 to 24VAC, 10 to 40VA, 50/60Hz doorbell transformer, and the listing's transformer requirement matches. The Store configuration page adds that the wired doorbell requires a transformer and chime rated that way, both sold separately, and that you may need to replace existing hardware.

For houses without doorbell wires or the right transformer, Google points to its Indoor Power Adapter or to the Nest Doorbell (battery). The listing's bullet says there is no need to recharge or replace batteries, because the wired model has none.

Google's requirements also call for a working Wi-Fi network, the Google Home app and a Google Account, and Google's compatibility check is at g.co/nest/works. Google says the doorbell is not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site.

Chime rules you need to follow

Google's Store specs say the doorbell is compatible with chimes rated for a 16 to 24VAC, 10 to 40VA, 50/60Hz transformer, and that when connected to a wired doorbell chime it must be used with the chime connector included in the box.

Two exclusions matter. Wired doorbell chimes are not supported when the doorbell is powered by the optional Indoor Power Adapter, and the doorbell is not compatible with battery-powered wireless doorbell chimes. Google directs you to g.co/nest/works to check compatibility. Notifications also go to your phone and to compatible Google and Alexa speakers and displays.

Video, view and bandwidth

Google gives a 2K sensor at 2048 by 2048, a 1:1 aspect ratio, a 166 degree diagonal field of view and 6x digital zoom. Video is up to 2K at 30 frames per second with HDR, 24/7 live view, and H.264 and H.265 encoding.

Google says 2K video needs at least 3.3 Mbps. Wi-Fi is 802.11ac-ready at 2.4 and 5 GHz with WPA3 support, plus Bluetooth Low Energy. Night vision reaches up to 10 feet from six 850nm infrared LEDs.

The listing says a green LED shows when the doorbell is processing or streaming video. Google lists on-device machine learning, secure boot and 128-bit AES encryption with TLS/SSL.

Video history and Google Home Premium

Without a subscription, Google says you get up to 6 hours of event video previews with clips up to 10 seconds. The Standard plan of Google Home Premium stores up to 30 days of event history; the Advanced plan stores up to 60 days and adds continuous recording with up to 10 days of 24/7 history.

The listing says Gemini features require a Google Home Premium subscription, with a one-month trial, and that the more detailed notifications and summaries need the Advanced plan. Google's Store page says Premium is required for certain features, including Gemini for Home and some AI experiences, while Google's help article lists a Google Home Premium subscription among the doorbell's connectivity requirements. Ask Google which applies if you do not plan to subscribe.

Weather, temperature and warranty

Google gives IP65 water and dust resistance, with its own footnote that the doorbell is designed to comply when it leaves the factory, is not waterproof, and that resistance can decrease over time. Relative humidity range is 20 to 85 percent.

The operating range is -4 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, so check that upper limit against your climate. Size is 5.2 by 1.7 by 1.1 inches and 4.9 ounces. Google's Store page gives a one-year limited warranty, or three years when installed through Nest Pro in the US and Canada.
