What is in the box
Makita's includes list names a dust bag, a triangular rule, a vertical vise, a 12 in. x 1 in. 60-tooth blade and a hex wrench. Makita's flyer lists a compact folding miter saw stand for the LS1219LX version only. The Amazon listing's model field reads LS1219L.
The horizontal vise and the crown molding stopper set are not in that list. Makita's page shows both as related products, and the manual marks each one as an optional accessory, which matters for the trim figures below. Makita gives a net weight of 65 lbs.
Crown, base and crosscut capacity
Makita's page claims 8 in. nested crown, 6-3/4 in. vertical baseboard and 15 in. crosscuts at 90 degrees. The manual's table qualifies the trim figures: 8 in. crown is with the crown molding stopper used, and 6-3/4 in. base board is with the horizontal vise used. Its caution for cutting base board also calls for the horizontal vise.
Makita's specifications give a maximum cut of 3-5/8 x 15 in. at a 90 degree miter and 3-5/8 x 10-1/2 in. at 45 degrees left or right. Makita's flyer puts the 90 degree capacity as crosscutting a 4x14.
Miter, bevel and the laser
The LS1219L miters 0 to 60 degrees left and right, with positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45 and 60 degrees, and bevels 0 to 48 degrees both ways from a lock at the front of the saw. Makita describes a 2-steel rail sliding system with a reduced footprint that allows operation flush against a wall.
The manual rates the laser as Class II, 1 mW maximum at 655 nm, and warns never to look into the beam. The laser has its own switch, and the manual shows how to shift the line to the left or right side of the blade. Makita's page says it indicates the line of cut whether the blade is turning or not.
Motor, blade and dust
Makita lists a 15.0 amp direct-drive motor at 3,200 rpm with no belts to slip or replace, a soft start, an electric brake and electronic speed control that holds speed under load. The manual's specifications give a maximum blade kerf of 3.2 mm (1/8 in.) and a 1 in. blade hole.
Makita's page lists dual dust collection ports for the included bag or a vacuum sold separately. The manual says to attach the bag in place of the dust extraction hose and to empty it when it is about half full.
Warranty
The manual does not print a term; it points to Makita's website. Makita's warranty page gives every Makita product one year from the original purchase under its general limited warranty, and three years to its lithium-ion tools, batteries, chargers, MAKTRAK storage and pneumatic nailers. The LS1219L is a corded saw, so this guide reports the one-year general term.
Makita's warranty page also offers a 30-day replacement or refund if you are not satisfied. Its warranties exclude repairs made or attempted by others, normal wear and tear, abuse, misuse or improper maintenance, and alterations to the tool.
