What is in the box
SKIL's includes list names the miter saw, left and right extension rod sets, a dust bag, a hex key and a clamp. The manual says the saw ships complete in one box and lists the loose parts: a work clamp, a miter-lock knob, a double-ended Allen key, a dust bag, a carrying handle with two screws and the right sliding fence. The Amazon listing's model field reads MS6305-00.
Neither list names a blade as a separate item, so confirm on the listing whether one is fitted before you plan the first cut. For setup the manual says you also need a combination square, a 10 mm wrench and a 4 mm hex key, none of them supplied.
Cut capacity
The manual's capacity table gives a 90 degree crosscut of a 2x12 (1-1/2 x 11-1/4 in.) or a 4x6, and a 2x8 at a 45 degree miter. With the blade beveled 45 degrees left it still cuts a 2x12, while a 45 degree right bevel is limited to a 1x12. Compound cuts at 45 and 45 degrees take a 2x8.
For trim the manual lists 4-1/2 in. baseboard and 6-1/4 in. crown molding against the fence, and SKIL's page describes the crown figure as vertically nested. Measure your tallest base and crown before choosing a 10 in. saw.
Miter, bevel and speed
The manual lists miters to 50 degrees left and right, with detents at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6 and 45 degrees on each side. The bevel tilts 48 degrees left and 45 degrees right, with stops at 0, 45 and 48 degrees left and 45 right. Blades are 10 in. on a 5/8 in. arbor with a maximum kerf of 3.2 mm.
The manual and SKIL's feature list give 4,800 rpm, but the specification table on SKIL's page lists a no-load speed of 5,000 rpm, so check any blade's rpm rating against the higher figure. An LED shadow light marks the cut, and SKIL's page describes linear bearings on the slide rails and a center trigger for either hand.
Mounting and carrying
The manual says to clamp or bolt the saw to a workbench or an approved miter saw stand before any cut, never to run it on the floor or in a crouched position, and to use two or more C clamps on the clamping areas for temporary mounting. Bolts for permanent mounting are not supplied.
Before lifting, the manual says to lock the bevel at 0 degrees, lock both table extensions in, lock the table at 45 degrees left or right, lock the slide rails and pin the head down. Lift only by the carrying handle or the side handle areas, never by the main handle or the cord.
Warranty: register within 30 days
The manual's limited warranty from Chervon North America gives three years from purchase only if the original buyer registers the saw within 30 days, online at Registermyskil.com or with the card in the box. Buyers who do not register get SKIL's standard one-year home-use warranty.
Professional use is covered for ninety days. The remedy is repair or replacement of defective parts, and you return the complete product, transportation prepaid, to a SKIL factory service center or authorized service station. Saw blades and other accessory items are excluded.
