The listing's technical details give the generation as Battery Doorbell 2K Plus (2nd Gen), 2026 release, in Nickel Silver, doorbell only. Ring's product name changes article says Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) was renamed Battery Doorbell 2K Plus on August 5, 2026, with no change to hardware, firmware or features.

Ring's support page lists a longer box than the listing: the doorbell, mounting plate, push pin, Corner Kit, silver faceplate, Quick Release Battery Pack, screws and wall anchors, fork connector wire extenders and wire nuts, a security sticker and a USB-C charging cable. The listing's own box list does not mention the USB-C cable or the wire extenders, so check the carton when it arrives.

Battery first, wiring optional

Power comes from the included Quick Release Battery Pack, which Ring's page says is compatible with the separately sold Quick Release Ultra Battery Pack. The listing's bullet describes removing the pack to recharge it and snapping it back in, and the setup requirement says the doorbell needs one of the two packs to power on.

Ring's support page says the doorbell can also be hardwired to existing doorbell wiring, and that the transformer must be 8 to 24 VAC or 24VDC, 8 to 40VA maximum, 50/60Hz to provide charge to the battery. Ring warns that incompatible power sources can damage the device and cause electric shock.

Ring's installation article covers two paths: mounting without an existing chime, and mounting over existing doorbell wiring, where the fork connector extenders are optional. For the wired path it starts with shutting off power at the breaker, advises an electrician if you are unsure, and says any additional chimes must be bypassed. Neither Ring document read states whether your existing chime rings when wired.

Wi-Fi band and weather rating disagree

The listing says WiFi 4, 2.4GHz single band. Ring's support page says dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ax at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. These cannot both describe the same connection, and we have no way to tell which is current. If your front door only gets a 5 GHz signal, confirm with Ring before relying on it.

Operating temperature agrees at -4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. The listing adds Weather Resistant IP55; Ring's support page gives no IP rating. Both sources ask for at least 10 Mbps upload for 2K, and Ring's footnote says video quality varies with bandwidth and device temperature.

Video: field of view, tilt and resolution

Ring's support page gives a 140 by 140 degree field of view, 178 degrees diagonal, with a five-degree downward tilt that Ring says provides doorstep coverage. The listing agrees on 140 by 140 with a 1:1 aspect ratio, and gives up to 6x Enhanced Zoom.

Ring's support page describes the video simply as 2K with head-to-toe framing and HDR, without a pixel count. Ring's name changes article says the 2K label indicates recording at 2560 by 1440. The listing adds that night vision stays in colour longer and switches to black and white in total darkness.

Mounting and size

Ring's support page gives the size as 2.11 by 5.77 by 1.34 inches, and the listing gives 5.8 by 2.11 by 1.34 inches, which is close. A Corner Kit is included; a Wedge Kit, No-Drill Mount, Solar Charger and Solar Panel are separate accessories on Ring's list.

Ring's installation article lists a Phillips-head screwdriver and an optional 1/4 inch masonry bit for stucco, brick or concrete, with a removal tool included. It says to fully charge the battery before setup, and that Ring does not recommend stacking more than two wedge or corner mounts. The listing gives an average install time of 10 minutes.

Subscription features and warranty

Ring's support page footnotes Extended Live View, Smart Alerts, Rich Notifications, Snapshot Capture, Video Search, Single Event Alert, and Unusual Event Alert as needing a compatible Ring subscription, and carries separate footnotes on Familiar Faces and Virtual Security Guard.
