TP-Link Deco BE77 BE17000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Mesh System, 3-Pack
Multi-gig homes that want a 10G port and full VPN server and client support on every unit
The Deco BE77, sold as Deco 7 Pro BE17000, is a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh with a 10 Gbps RJ45/SFP+ combo, a 2.5 Gbps port, a Gigabit port and USB 3.0 on every unit, all WAN/LAN auto-sensing. TP-Link lists VPN server and client support for OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP/IPSec and WireGuard, plus WPA3 and a guest network per band. The units stand 7.8 inches tall, and the combo port runs its RJ45 or its SFP+ side, not both.

Fit and limits
Strengths
- Every unit carries a 10 Gbps combo port plus 2.5 Gbps and Gigabit ports and USB 3.0, not just the main one
- TP-Link lists four VPN protocols, including WireGuard, on both the server and the client side
- Datasheet publishes power draw, adapter ratings and transmit power, so the electrical picture is documented
Caveats
- The 10G combo pair runs its RJ45 or its SFP+ side only, never both at once, per TP-Link's user guide
- Coverage is 8,500 sq ft on the listing and 3,300 sq ft on TP-Link's page, and TP-Link's own documents give 9 and 8 streams
- Units stand 7.8 inches tall, and the kit ships only one Ethernet cable for three units
Which Deco this is, and what ships in the 3-pack
The listing's product-information table gives the model name as Deco 7 Pro BE17000 Tri-Band and the model number and manufacturer part number as Deco BE77(3-Pack), UPC 840460600187, colour White, three items, item weight 6.28 pounds. The listing title carries both names, Deco 7 Pro BE17000 and Deco BE77 3-Pack, and TP-Link documents the product on its Deco BE77 page.
TP-Link's specifications tab gives the package contents by pack size, and for the 3-pack that is three Deco BE77 units, one RJ45 Ethernet cable, three power adapters and a Quick Installation Guide. The datasheet gives contents per pack size too, and the Amazon included-components field lists the same items. There is one Ethernet cable for three units.
The user guide's Appearance page describes what is on each unit: an LED that changes colour by status, a WPS button, a Gigabit WAN/LAN port, a 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port, the 10 Gbps RJ45/SFP+ combo pair, a USB 3.0 port, a power slot and a Reset button pressed for one second. The product label is on the bottom of the unit.
The 10G combo port is a pair, and you use one side at a time
Each unit carries three wired ports: one 10 Gbps RJ45/SFP+ combo, one 2.5 Gbps and one 1.0 Gbps, all WAN/LAN auto-sensing. That is per Deco, not per kit, so a 3-pack has three of each. There is also one USB 3.0 port per unit, which TP-Link's specifications tab lists with FTP, media and Samba server functions.
The user guide adds a rule for the combo port: the combo pair includes an Ethernet port and an SFP+ port, and only one port in the pair can be used at a time. If you were picturing a fibre module and a 10G copper run working side by side on the same unit, that is not how TP-Link documents it.
A second limit sits in TP-Link's footnotes. All WAN/LAN ports will operate as either WAN or LAN ports, but only one port can serve as a WAN port at a time, and the footnote adds that 10 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps speeds require compatible service plans and equipment.
The band split, the stream count and the 320 MHz condition
BE17000 is the sum of three numbers that TP-Link publishes separately: 11530 Mbps on 6 GHz, 4324 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. The specifications tab, the datasheet and the Amazon bullets all print the same three figures, so there is no disagreement on the band split.
There is a disagreement on streams. The Amazon title says 9-Stream 17Gbps and TP-Link's specifications tab says 9 Streams, while the datasheet's specification page says 8 Streams next to the same signal-rate line. Both are TP-Link documents and neither explains the difference, so treat the stream count as unsettled and ask TP-Link if it matters to your decision.
The 320 MHz channel width in the listing title carries a condition in TP-Link's own footnote: 320 MHz is only available on the 6 GHz band, and Wi-Fi 7 features require client devices that support them. A further note on the page says this Deco may not support all the mandatory features as ratified in the IEEE 802.11be specification.
Two coverage numbers, and neither is a measurement
The Amazon bullets say the system covers up to 8,500 sq. ft. for over 200 devices. TP-Link's own overview page for the BE77 says Whole-Home Coverage Up to 3,300 Sq. Ft. and, on the feature panel lower down, covers up to 3,300 sq ft (1-pack). Nothing in either document reconciles the two figures.
Both are claims rather than measurements. TP-Link's footnote on the same page says actual throughput and coverage are not guaranteed, so neither the listing's number nor TP-Link's should be read as a promise for your home. If square footage decides the purchase, confirm the figure for the 3-pack with TP-Link.
The 200-device claim has a stated basis. TP-Link's footnote says connection to over 200 devices is based on laboratory test data, and describes an in-room test scenario. That is a lab scenario described by the maker, not a figure from any independent test.
Encryption, VPN and what HomeShield charges for
Wi-Fi encryption is listed as WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal and WPA3-Personal, with a footnote that using WPA3 requires clients to support it. Network security on the specifications tab covers an SPI firewall and access control, and the HomeShield block lists real-time IoT protection, a malicious site blocker, an intrusion prevention system, DDoS attack prevention and a home network scanner.
TP-Link's specifications tab lists a VPN server for OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP/IPSec and WireGuard, and a VPN client for the same four protocols. It also lists one guest network per band and, in the software block, an IoT network with device isolation.
HomeShield is not all free. TP-Link's footnote states that HomeShield includes a free Basic plan, that fees apply for the Pro plan, and that some features are under development. The pages read here do not say which HomeShield feature sits in which plan, so confirm that with TP-Link before you rely on one.
Size, power, environment and the warranty field
Each unit is a tall one: 4.65 x 4.65 x 7.80 in (118 x 118 x 198 mm) per both TP-Link's specifications tab and the datasheet. Measure shelf height before ordering, because each unit stands almost eight inches high.
The datasheet adds electrical figures: maximum power consumption of 32.7 W without the power adapter, a power adapter input of 100-240V 50/60Hz 1A and an output of 12V 3.3A. It also states transmit power under FCC rules as less than 30 dBm on each of the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.
Environment limits are the same in both documents: operating temperature 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, storage minus 40 to 60 Celsius, operating humidity 10 to 90 percent and storage humidity 5 to 90 percent. Certifications are given as CE, FCC and RoHS on the specifications tab and as FCC and RoHS on the datasheet. The Amazon warranty field says 2 Year Manufacturer; none of the TP-Link documents read here states a warranty term, so confirm it with TP-Link.
