This is a personal item, not a full carry-on
Travelpro calls this the Maxlite 5 Carry-On Rolling Underseat Bag, and the shape tells you what it is for: the bag that goes under the seat in front of you rather than in the overhead bin. Travelpro's own FAQ says that on most US airlines it fits the personal-item role, which can leave you free to bring a full-size carry-on as well.
The capacity follows from that. Both Travelpro and the Amazon listing give 26 litres, which Travelpro's FAQ describes as roughly one to two days of clothes plus a laptop or tablet, toiletries and chargers. If you are packing for longer than a couple of days, this is the second bag rather than the only one.
Travelpro is careful about the fit claim in its own FAQ, and so are we. It says underseat clearance varies by aircraft and seat position, that bulkhead and some window seats have less room, and that on smaller regional aircraft the bag may need to go in the overhead bin instead. Check your own airline's published personal-item numbers before you rely on it.
Two sizes are published, and the bigger one is the one to use
Travelpro publishes the case dimensions, the packing body alone, as 15.25 by 13 by 8 inches. The overall dimensions, which Travelpro says include the wheels and carry handles, are 17.5 inches high by 14.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches deep. The Amazon bullet gives both figures with the same labels.
Amazon's Measurements table repeats only the overall set, listing 17.5 by 14.5 by 8.5 inches, which is the more useful of the two for comparing against an airline limit. Travelpro's FAQ states plainly that when airlines publish size limits they mean the overall size with wheels and handles included.
Weight is 5.5 pounds on Travelpro's page and 5.49 pounds in Amazon's table, which is the same number rounded differently. For a wheeled bag with a telescoping handle and a padded laptop sleeve, that is light, and it is most of the reason to pick a rolling underseat bag over a tote you carry on your shoulder.
Two wheels, a handle strong enough to stack on, and a rear strap
This bag rolls on two wheels rather than four. Amazon's table records wheel type as in-line skate and number of wheels as two, and the listing bullet calls them two inline skate wheels. Travelpro's page describes two high-performance ball bearing wheels that it says have been rigorously tested for a smooth roll.
One wording difference is worth flagging. The Amazon bullet says the two inline wheels ensure smooth rolling in any direction, while Travelpro's page makes no multidirectional claim for this bag and reserves that language for its four-wheel spinners. A two-wheel bag is tilted and pulled rather than pushed alongside you.
The handle is the PowerScope Lite, which Travelpro says reduces wobble and is strong enough to support another tote or case. The rear strap slides over the extension handle of a Rollaboard or spinner so the underseat bag rides stacked on a larger suitcase, which is the feature that makes it work as the second bag in a pair.
The pockets are the point of this bag
Travelpro's Details panel lists a padded laptop or tablet sleeve, a removable hanging wet pocket for cosmetics or toiletries, quick-access external pockets and a roomy main compartment with a large zippered opening. It also mentions a side pocket for an umbrella or water bottle and a front organiser.
Amazon's table counts seven pockets and one section, which is a lot of subdivision for 26 litres. The listing bullet repeats the padded sleeve and the removable hanging wet pocket. Neither document gives a maximum laptop screen size for the sleeve, so measure your machine against the 15.25 by 13 by 8 inch case body before assuming it fits.
The fabric is polyester with Travelpro's DuraGuard coating, which Travelpro says resists water and stains. Amazon's table records the material as polyester, shell type soft and the water resistance level as water repellent. Travelpro adds that the ECOFAB interior lining with H2O guard is made from recycled plastic bottles.
Where the two documents disagree
Amazon's Features & Specs table lists a lock type of combination lock for this bag. Nothing in the five listing bullets mentions a lock, and Travelpro's own product page for this model does not name a built-in or TSA-accepted lock anywhere in its Details panel or feature list.
We are not going to choose between them. If a lock matters to you, ask Travelpro about this SKU or plan on a separate travel lock. It is the same discrepancy that appears on Amazon's table for Travelpro's Maxlite 5 spinner, so it looks like a table field rather than a described feature.
There is a smaller numbering wrinkle too. The listing gives the model number as 401177701 for the black bag, while the SKU displayed in Travelpro's Details panel changes with the colour swatch and read 401177706 for Slate Green. Travelpro's site search does match 401177701 to this product page, so the family is right; quote the full number when you contact them.
Warranty: four parts for life, airline damage for one year
Travelpro's warranty panel on this product page and its separate Maxlite 5 warranty page say the same thing: the Built For A Lifetime limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that negatively impact functional performance, in wheels, zippers, extension handles and carrying handles. Proof of purchase is required and the remedy is repair, or replacement with a comparable product if repair is not feasible.
The exclusions on the warranty page are the part to read before buying. They rule out abrasions, scratches, dents or stains that do not impair function, normal wear and tear, damage from abuse, mishandling or accidents, damage caused by an airline, train service, cruise ship or other common carrier, and incidental or consequential damage including loss of contents.
Carrier damage is instead handled by the Trusted Companion Promise, which covers the cost of repair for airline or common-carrier damage plus shipping to a repair facility. Travelpro's duration table gives the Maxlite 5 collection the first year of limited warranty coverage for that promise, and registration within 120 days of delivery is the condition. Luggage used by professional flight crews is limited to three years rather than lifetime.
