What comes in the box, and what WEN sells separately

The manual's packing list names the track saw, two carbon brushes, a 5 mm hex wrench and a dust port adapter. WEN's page says the track is not included and names the CT9502 100-inch track, which the manual describes as sold with adapters, plus CT992F track clamps. The manual says the track, track adapters, clamps and the 3 mm hex wrench for the adapters are bought separately.

The blade on the saw is a 6.5 in. (165 mm) 24-tooth carbide blade with a 20 mm arbor, a 1.6 mm plate and a 2.2 mm kerf, per the manual. It warns not to fit a blade thicker than 1.9 mm. A dust bag is not included either; the adapter's inner diameter is 35 mm and its outer diameter 39.5 mm.

Depth and bevel, with and without the track

The manual gives four depths: 2.32 in. (59 mm) at 90 degrees and 1.65 in. (42 mm) at 45 degrees without the track, and 2.13 in. (54 mm) and 1.50 in. (38 mm) with it. WEN's page quotes the larger, trackless figures: rips up to 2-1/3 in. and 45-degree bevels in boards up to 1-5/8 in.

The bevel range is 0 to 45 degrees, with no stop past 45. A track compensation lever on the depth scale is set down when the saw is on the track and up when it is not. The manual says the blade should never protrude more than 1/8 in. below the material.

Speed: the page and the manual disagree

WEN's page says the 10 amp motor turns the blade up to 5,500 times per minute. The manual's specification table gives a no-load speed of 6,000 rpm. Neither document describes a speed dial, and the manual's operating steps only say to let the blade reach full speed before plunging.

The manual lists the weight as 12 lbs and the product dimensions as 12 x 9.5 x 9.5 in. WEN's page describes the base as 12 x 6-5/8 in. with grooves that run on the track, and says the saw can also be used on its own as a plunge saw.

Modes, track lock and kickback cam

A mode selector has three settings: blade change, free plunge and a scribe cut that stops at 2.5 mm (0.1 in.) for a scoring pass on veneer or melamine. On the track, a track lock knob hooks a plate under the track's lip, and two fine-adjustment cams take up play between the saw and the rail.

A spring-loaded anti-kickback cam on the base is meant to stop the saw moving backward along the track; to slide it back when not cutting, the manual says to hold the knob at 0. The manual also says some tracks' rails are too wide for the cams, in which case the cams are removed.

Warranty terms and seller limits

WEN's page describes a two-year warranty. The manual's warranty statement from Great Lakes Technologies covers the original purchaser only, gives 30 days to report missing or damaged parts and limits the remedy to replacement parts. Wear items such as brushes and blades are excluded.

The manual says buying through third-party vendors such as garage sales, pawn shops, resale shops or other secondhand merchants voids the warranty, and it asks for proof of purchase and a serial number for any claim. The Amazon listing read for this guide was sold by Amazon.com.
