What every source here agrees on

The S8 is a 1500 peak amp 12-volt lithium jump starter rated by AstroAI for 6.0 litre gas and 3.0 litre diesel engines. That rating appears in the listing title, in AstroAI's own product page title and in the model selector on that page, so all three sources agree on it.

Physical size is consistent too. Both the listing and AstroAI's technical details table give 4.5 inches deep by 7.9 wide by 3.7 high. Both manuals give the same temperature bands: operation from minus 4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, and a narrower charging band of 32 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

Weight is the one small physical disagreement. The listing says 15.2 ounces, which is the 0.95 pounds AstroAI's own comparison card also gives for the S8. AstroAI's technical details table on the same page says 800 grams instead. Those are not the same figure, and no source we read explains the difference.

Two AstroAI manuals, two different packs

The manual attached to this listing is marked V3.0.0. Its specification table reads: model S8, capacity 29.6 watt-hours, four 3.7 volt lithium cells in series making a 2000 mAh pack at 14.8 volts, restated as 8000 mAh at 3.7 volts. The listing's own battery capacity field matches that at 8000 mAh.

AstroAI's own hosted S8 manual, marked V1.3, gives different numbers for the same model name. Capacity 37 watt-hours, a 2500 mAh pack at 14.8 volts, restated as 10000 mAh at 3.7 volts. AstroAI's product page technical details table agrees with that second document, listing 10000 mAh, and it also calls the chemistry lithium nickel manganese cobalt where the listing says lithium ion.

Two AstroAI documents therefore give different capacities and different port counts under one model name, and neither acknowledges the other. Match the manual in your box to the unit rather than assuming either set of numbers applies, and if capacity is what you are buying on, ask AstroAI which one ships against this listing.

The port layout changes with the build

The listing-supplied manual's diagram shows six items: a battery level indicator, a power button, a 5V/2A USB-C input port, an LED flashlight, a single 5V/2.1A USB-A output port and the 12V jump start port for the smart clamps. That USB-C port is labelled input only, so it charges the unit and does not power devices.

AstroAI's hosted manual describes a different arrangement in its specification table: USB1 plus USB2 as outputs at 5 volts and 2.4 amps, and a USB input supporting quick charge at 5 volts and 3 amps. It also publishes a charge time, roughly three hours at 10 watts, which the listing-supplied manual does not state at all.

Both manuals agree on how you charge. The supplied USB-A to USB-C cable runs from the device's charging port to any USB source, and both are explicit that the charging block is not included. The listing's included-components field says only Cable, while both manuals list the jump starter, smart battery clamps, charging cable, storage bag and user manual.

Charge state and the 75 percent rule

The four bars read as bands rather than exact percentages: one bar is under 25 percent, two is 25 to 50, three is 50 to 75, four is 75 to 100. While charging the indicators illuminate in sequence, the lit ones show the current level, and when all four go dark the listing-supplied manual says charging is finished.

Seventy-five percent is the working threshold throughout both documents. Keep the level above 75 percent before starting a car and turn off electrical devices inside the vehicle first. In maintenance, charge the unit whenever its level drops below 75 percent. In troubleshooting, insufficient charge is the first cause listed when a vehicle fails to start.

For storage, both manuals give the same two lines: fully charge the unit before any long idle period, and charge it every three months. The listing-supplied manual also asks you to remove the jump starter from the vehicle battery promptly after a successful start, and says not to start a car while the unit itself is charging.

The clamps signal, and Boost has a 30-second window

The smart clamps carry their own indicator and the manual gives four states. Steady green means connected correctly. Steady red means reversed polarity and asks you to reconnect the terminals correctly. Flashing green means low car battery voltage and points you at the Boost button. No light means the vehicle battery may be damaged.

The listing describes the Boost behaviour as Auto-Sense, with the green light flashing when battery voltage is under 9 volts. The manual sets out the Boost sequence and the thirty-second window that follows it, and that sequence belongs in the manual rather than on this page.

Two handling points in the manual are worth building into habit without reproducing its warning text. The clamp's blue plug has to be fully inserted into the socket, and only the included clamps should be used. The rest of the warnings, including everything about working around a vehicle battery, belong in the manual and should be read there first.

Heat, repeat starts and what the warranty covers

Repeat use is governed by a short interval rather than a hard lockout. The manual says repeatedly jump starting in a short time frame increases the likelihood of damage, and asks for a 60-second break between uses when you are starting several times in a row. No maximum number of attempts is given.

Overheating is handled automatically. Both manuals say the unit activates overheating protection and shuts down until it cools, and AstroAI's hosted copy adds that after an overheat you should let the unit come back to room temperature before charging it. That answer appears under both the failure-to-start and failure-to-charge entries.

The warranty is identical in both documents: a 2-Year Limited Warranty from AstroAI, covering the original purchaser only and not transferable, excluding damage from neglect, misuse, contamination, alteration, accident, or abnormal conditions of operation or handling. The listing's warranty field agrees at 2 Year Manufacturer. The listing's claim of 10 safeguards is not itemised in either manual we read.
