The engine rating is the first thing to settle

The listing title says this unit covers all gas engines and diesels up to 12 litres. AstroAI's own S8 Ultra product page does not say that. It titles the model for 10.0 litre gas and 8.0 litre diesel engines, and its model selector lists the S8 Ultra as 4000A for 10L gas and 8L diesel while a separate entry, the S8 Ultra Max at 6000A, carries the all-gas and 12L diesel description.

The user manual does not help, because it prints no engine rating at all. Its specification table covers capacity, port ratings and temperature bands and stops there. That leaves the maker's product page as the only AstroAI source that states an engine limit for the S8 Ultra name.

Both sources agree on 4000 amps peak, and the listing adds a 45C discharge rate that appears in neither AstroAI document we read. If engine size is what decides your purchase, confirm with AstroAI which rating applies to the unit shipping under this listing before you order.

Capacity: the manual and the product page disagree

The manual's specification table is unambiguous. Model S8 Ultra, capacity 59.2 watt-hours, and a note that the unit holds four 3.7 volt lithium cells in series, giving a pack of 4000 mAh at 14.8 volts, which it restates as 16000 mAh at 3.7 volts. The listing's battery capacity field matches at 16000 mAh.

AstroAI's product page puts 24000 mAh in its title and in its technical details table for the same S8 Ultra name. It also gives a weight of 2.13 pounds and dimensions of 5.24 inches deep by 10.31 wide by 4.29 high, where the listing states 1.79 pounds and no dimensions at all. Chemistry is called lithium ion on the page and lithium polymer on the listing.

We checked whether the listing simply carried an old manual. It did not: AstroAI's own hosted copy of the S8 Ultra manual, marked V3.0.0, prints the same 59.2 watt-hour and 16000 mAh figures as the copy attached to the listing. Two AstroAI documents therefore state different capacities under one model name, and we are not going to guess which unit arrives.

What the manual says is on the unit

The manual's diagram gives the full port list: two USB-A output ports at 5 volts and 3 amps, one USB-C input and output port, an LED flashlight, a power button, a battery level indicator and a 12V jump start port for the smart battery clamps. There is no DC accessory socket in that diagram or in the specification table.

Package contents are the jump starter, smart battery clamps, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a storage bag and the user manual. The manual is explicit that the charging block is not included, and says the power source can be any USB source such as a wall charger or car charger. The listing repeats that a wall charger is not included.

Temperature bands are published and they are not the same for use and for charging. Operation runs from minus 4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, minus 20 to 50 Celsius. Charging is narrower, 32 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit, 0 to 45 Celsius. Plan around the charging band if the unit lives in a cold vehicle.

Charge state, and the 75 percent rule

The four indicator bars map to bands rather than exact figures: one bar is under 25 percent, two is 25 to 50, three is 50 to 75, four is 75 to 100. While charging, the indicators illuminate in sequence and the lit ones show the current level; when all four are off, the manual says charging is complete.

The 75 percent figure recurs as a working rule. The manual asks you to keep the level above 75 percent before starting a car, repeats it in the preparation section, repeats it again in troubleshooting as the first thing to check when a vehicle fails to start, and in maintenance tells you to charge whenever the level drops below 75 percent.

Long-term care is two lines: fully charge the unit before any extended period without use, and charge it every three months. The manual also asks you to turn off electrical devices inside the vehicle before starting, and to remove the jump starter from the battery promptly once the engine is running.

The clamp light does the talking

This model uses smart battery clamps with their own indicator, and the manual gives four states. Steady green means the clamps are connected correctly. Steady red means reversed polarity and asks you to reconnect the terminals correctly. A flashing green light means the car battery voltage is low and points you to the Boost button. No light at all means the vehicle battery may be damaged.

Boost is what the listing describes as automatic sensing, with the clamps starting a car on their own between 9 and 12 volts and prompting for Boost below 9. The manual sets out the Boost sequence and the thirty-second window that follows it, and that sequence belongs in the manual rather than on this page.

Two mechanical points in the manual are worth knowing before the box arrives: the clamp plug must be fully inserted into its socket, and only the included smart clamps should be used. The full warning list, including everything about working around a vehicle battery, is in the manual and should be read there first.

Heat, repeat starts and the warranty's limit

Repeat use is governed by a short rule rather than a lockout count. The manual says repeatedly jump starting in a short time frame increases the likelihood of damage, and asks for a 60-second break between uses when you are starting a vehicle several times in a row. It gives no maximum number of attempts.

Overheating is handled by the unit. The troubleshooting section states that if the jump starter overheats it turns on its overheating protection and shuts down for a few minutes, and that you should try again once it has cooled. That same answer appears under both the failure-to-charge and failure-to-start entries.

The warranty is a 2-Year Limited Warranty from AstroAI, which matches the listing's 24MONTHS field. Two conditions are printed with it. It covers the original purchaser only and is not transferable, and it excludes damage from neglect, misuse, contamination, alteration, accident, or abnormal conditions of operation or handling. IP65 appears on the listing but in neither AstroAI document read here, so treat the rating as unconfirmed by the maker's own paperwork.
