What Clore publishes, and what the listing adds

The JNC660 is a 12-volt jump starter built around a sealed lead-acid Clore PROFORMER battery. Clore's product page gives 1700 peak amps and 425 cranking amps, 46-inch number 2 AWG welding cable leads, industrial-grade clamps, a built-in automatic charger, a volt gauge and a 12-volt DC outlet for accessories.

The listing repeats those figures and adds a 22 amp-hour battery, a lead-acid AGM cell composition, dimensions of 5.1 inches deep by 14.1 wide by 16.3 high, and a weight of 18 pounds that matches Clore's specification table. The maker's comparison table on the listing describes the JNC660 as covering all vehicles and light commercial use, while Clore's specification table gives no engine-size rating at all.

The listing's included-components field names a single item, the JNC660 12V jump starter itself, and Clore's page publishes no box list. The manual's recommended charging method uses a household extension cord that it marks as not included, so ask the seller what actually arrives in the carton.

The manual on the listing covers two units, and two builds

The operator's manual attached to this listing is a 32-page document written for both the JNC660 and the JNC4000, and it separates instructions for the two throughout. When you read it, follow the JNC660 lines and skip the JNC4000 ones, because the recharge guidance is not the same for both.

It also splits the JNC660 itself into two builds. New-style models light an amber LED while charging and a green CHARGED LED once the charger has entered maintenance mode. The manual describes the others as old style, with no LED indicators at all, and gives them different charging instructions.

That distinction decides how you treat the unit, so before plugging anything in, look at the front panel and check whether those two LEDs are actually there. Neither the listing nor Clore's product page states which of the two builds ships to a buyer today.

Charging: one build can stay plugged in, the other cannot

The manual's opening page asks you to charge the unit for 24 hours through the built-in charger when you open the box, to charge after every use, and to charge before extended storage. It also says to recharge every three months when the unit is sitting unused, and warns that skipping those maintenance charges can greatly reduce battery life.

For JNC660 models with automatic charging, the manual states plainly that they cannot be overcharged and can remain connected continuously with no adverse consequences. For the JNC4000 and older JNC660 units it gives a time table instead: about one hour after a single jump start, 12 hours or overnight after multiple starts, and 24 to 36 hours after use as portable power, with a note not to exceed 24 hours under normal usage.

The alternative method, charging through the 12-volt outlet with the male-to-male extension cord, carries a printed do-not-overcharge warning and asks you to monitor the process frequently. The manual separately says recharging from a running vehicle's alternator is not recommended, because an alternator output of 25 to 125 amps greatly exceeds the recommended rate and charging that way may void the product warranty.

The 12-volt outlet and its 12-amp ceiling

The DC outlet is what makes this more than a starting box. The manual says any accessory drawing up to 12 amps can be powered from it, and that an automatic reset circuit breaker handles the case where current exceeds that figure. It lists fans, radios, phones, navigation equipment, trolling motors and small refrigerators as examples.

That same 12-amp ceiling also limits how much current can flow back into the unit when you charge through the outlet. If you want to run mains-voltage gear through an inverter, the manual names 400 watts as the maximum recommended inverter size.

The manual also describes using the outlet to keep vehicle electronics powered while a car battery is swapped, and cautions that the vehicle's own 12-volt socket has to stay live with the ignition off. It notes that on some vehicles those sockets are deactivated when the vehicle is turned off.

Temperature and storage change what it can deliver

For jump-starting use the manual says not to store the unit below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. It also states that temperatures above 70 degrees decrease amperage output, and names room temperature, which it puts at 68 degrees, as the ideal storage environment for the battery inside.

Because the battery is sealed and non-spillable, the manual says the unit may be stored virtually anywhere and in any position, with the clamps kept apart. It recommends storing it in the original box, re-wrapping the cables and re-holstering the clamps.

On weather, the manual says the unit may be used in rain, snow, hot or cold conditions, but must not be submerged in water. Neither Clore's product page nor the manual pages read here gives an IP rating, so treat that line as a plain weather statement rather than a sealed-enclosure rating.

Warranty: one year, transferable, with a split at day 30

The standalone warranty sheet on the listing and the warranty page inside the operator's manual carry the same wording: one year from the date of original end user purchase, against defects in material or workmanship. Clore's product page shortens that to a one year limited warranty in its specification table.

The cover transfers in a limited way. It extends to each person who acquires lawful ownership within one year of the original retail purchase, and it is void if the product has been abused, altered, misused, or improperly packaged and damaged when returned for repair. Accessory items subject to wear from usage are excluded, with their replacement at the owner's expense.

Service splits at day 30. A failure inside the first 30 days after retail purchase goes back to the place of purchase for an exchange, while from day 31 to day 365 you contact Clore Automotive technical service directly. A valid dated sales receipt is required either way. The manual adds that the sealed lead-acid battery itself can be replaced through that same service line.
