Fit and limits

  • Bevel tilts left only, 0 to 45 degrees

What is in the box

DEWALT's includes list names a rolling stand, a push stick, a miter gauge, a rip fence, two blade wrenches, the blade guard assembly and a 10 in. 24-tooth carbide blade. The manual adds a non-through-cut riving knife and an anti-kickback assembly to the guard system, with onboard storage for the guard, fence, riving knife, miter gauge, wrenches, push stick and cord.

DEWALT's product data lists an assembled weight of 112 lbs for the saw and stand. The Amazon listing's model field reads DWE7491RS, and its bullets repeat the same box list as DEWALT's page.

Rip capacity, depth and table

DEWALT gives 32-1/2 in. of rip capacity. The manual explains how: the fence mounts in two positions on the right, position 1 for 0 to 24.5 in. and position 2 for 8 to 32.5 in., plus one position on the left. A rack and pinion system moves the telescoping fence rails.

The manual's specifications list 15 amps, a 4,800 rpm no-load speed, a 21-7/8 x 26-3/8 in. table, a miter gauge range of 30 degrees left and right and a bevel of 0 to 45 degrees left. Maximum depth is 3-1/8 in. at 0 degrees and 2-1/4 in. at 45, and the manual says the saw is intended only for 10 in. blades.

Dado cuts and what you need for them

The manual lists dadoing as an intended non-through cut. It limits dado stacks to 13/16 in. (20 mm) thick and 8 in. (200 mm) in diameter, and says the blade guard assembly comes off for dado work. A special dado insert must be used, and the manual says it is also sold as an accessory.

DEWALT's includes list does not name a dado insert, so plan on buying it with the dado set. The manual says to reattach the guard and anti-kickback assembly after a non-through cut, and it calls for a featherboard on non-through cuts.

Safety limits in the manual

The manual's intended-use section rules out metal, cement board and masonry, and wet conditions. It says never to plunge cut on this saw and that resawing is not recommended. For narrow work of 6 in. or less, it says to use a push stick, and it explains a flip-over narrow ripping fence that also works as a support extension.

If the power cuts out or a breaker trips, a power loss reset switch returns to off, so the saw does not restart on its own when power comes back. The manual notes that breaker trips are often caused by a dull blade.

Warranty and service

DEWALT's page lists a 3 year limited warranty, 1 year free service and a 90 day satisfaction guarantee. The manual's Three Year Limited Warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for three years from purchase and excludes normal wear and tool abuse.

The manual's warranty does not apply to accessories or to damage where repairs were attempted by others. DEWALT's support line printed in the manual is 1-800-433-9258.
