Kit or tool: what SNT2405 means

EGO's page lists the 24 in. two-stage blower in several configurations: SNT2400 is the snow blower only, and SNT2405 adds two 7.5Ah batteries and a dual-port charger. The manual covers the SNT2400 blower. The Amazon listing's model field reads SNT2405.

The manual's contents list names the blower, the snow-discharge chute assembly, the handle assembly, five knobs and bolts, a chute clean tool and two shear pins. The handle and chute need assembly before use, and the manual says two additional shear pins are stored on the chute assembly.

Size, weight and self-propel

The manual gives a 24 in. clearing width, a 20 in. intake height, 15 in. wheels and a throw of up to 50 feet. It lists the blower at 143.3 lbs without batteries, which is why it has a self-propel drive: a trigger and a speed lever on the handle run it forward or in reverse at variable speed.

EGO's page claims it clears up to an 18-car driveway with 8 inches of snow on one charge with the two recommended 7.5Ah batteries. That is EGO's figure, not a measurement of ours. The manual's operating temperature range is -4 to 50 degrees F.

Two batteries for deep or wet snow

The blower has two battery compartments. The manual says not to run it on a single battery when snow is deeper than 8 inches or very wet or icy, because the battery can overheat and shut the machine off, and it recommends two batteries working together for peak power.

The manual lists the EGO 56V battery packs and chargers it may be used with. Variable auger speed sets the throwing distance, an electric brake stops the auger within 3 seconds of releasing the auger trigger, and the chute turns 100 degrees left and right.

Gravel, skid shoes and shear pins

The manual says not to use it on a graveled surface unless the blower is adjusted for that surface, and its skid shoe section says to raise the skid shoes on uneven or gravel surfaces. Shear pins in the auger shaft absorb the shock when the auger strikes an obstacle, protecting the gearbox and motor.

To clear a clog, the manual says to remove the batteries, wait 10 seconds for the auger to stop and use the chute clean tool, never your hand. It also warns never to use the blower on a rooftop or on frozen lakes, rivers or similar surfaces.

Warranty

EGO's page lists a five-year limited tool warranty and a three-year limited battery warranty for this blower. The manual's limited warranty section points to EGO's online warranty policy for the detailed period of each product, so check that page for exclusions before you buy.
