Fit and limits
Strengths

One small camera, no hub and no wires needed
The SoloCam S220 is eufy's product number T8134, a single wire-free outdoor camera with a solar panel built into its top. eufy's support article lists the box as the camera, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a camera mounting bracket, a screw pack, a quick start guide and a brand card. The product page's FAQ answer gives a slightly different list, naming a screw positioning sticker as well, so expect a small paper template for drilling.
Mounting is by screw only; eufy's specification marks magnetic mount as No. There is one USB-C port for charging and one SYNC button. The listing describes drilling one hole, once, and the camera weighs 11 ounces with a body of roughly 3.17 by 3.82 by 2.26 inches.
No hub is included and none is required. A HomeBase 3 is an optional addition that changes what the camera can do, covered further down.
Power: an integrated panel with eufy's own energy arithmetic
The battery is 6,500 mAh with a stated battery life of up to 90 days, and the solar panel is integrated rather than an accessory. eufy also lists the camera as compatible with its separate eufy Solar Panel if you need more.
eufy publishes the numbers behind the claim, which is unusual. Its FAQ says the built-in 0.9W solar panel can collect and store 200 to 400 mAh per day in optimal sunlight, and that the camera uses 100 to 130 mAh over a day and night of average use. The headline requirement is three hours of sunlight daily.
Read those figures as a range that depends on where you point the camera. A north-facing wall or a spot under an eave will sit at the bottom of the collection range while a busy driveway will sit at the top of the consumption range.
Video, detection and what the camera cannot do
Resolution is 2K (2,560 x 1,440) at 15 FPS with a 135-degree field of view. Night vision is infrared; eufy's specification marks Spotlight as No, so there is no white light and no colour night view from a lamp. The listing adds an f/1.6 aperture and four infrared LEDs. There is a microphone, a speaker and two-way talk.
On-device AI covers human detection. eufy's specification marks vehicle detection, pet detection and anti-theft alert as No for this model, and the product page says individual facial recognition is what a HomeBase 3 connection adds. Detection is by a PIR motion sensor.
Two FAQ answers are worth knowing before you buy. eufy says the S220 does not support continuous recording, and that it does not support cloud or NAS storage. This is an event-recording camera with local storage, not a camera you can leave rolling.
Storage and the no-monthly-fee claim
Local storage is 8 GB of eMMC inside the camera. eufy lists expandable storage as HomeBase 3, which is the only route to more space; there is no microSD slot in the specification and, per the FAQ, no cloud or NAS option for this model.
That is what the no-monthly-fee claim rests on: recordings and the AI both live on the device. Amazon's detail table also sets Subscription Required to No. If 8 GB fills with events you have not reviewed, your options are to review and clear them or to add a HomeBase 3.
eufy's own product page does advertise a paid eufy Plus membership whose listed benefits include cloud backup history, alongside shipping and rewards perks. So a subscription exists in eufy's shop even though the camera does not need one. Nothing we read says any camera function stops working without it.
Wi-Fi, weather and temperature limits
Connection is Wi-Fi only and 2.4 GHz only; eufy's FAQ confirms it does not work on 5 GHz. Range is given as up to 200 m or 656 ft as a theoretical figure, which the FAQ restates as 200 meters in a clear and open environment. eufy's own description suggests the camera for property your 2.4 GHz network already reaches, such as a boat house or a remote garage.
The IP rating is IP67 and the operating temperature range is -4F to 122F (-20C to 50C). Those are the numbers to check against your climate, particularly the cold end if you are in a place with hard winters, since the same cold also affects battery behaviour.
Phone requirements are Android 8.0 or later and iOS 12.0.0 or later. Smart-home integrations are Amazon Alexa and Google Voice Assistant; eufy's specification marks Apple HomeKit as No.
What eufy's warranty page does and does not say
eufy's refund and warranty page covers quality-related defects on items sold directly by eufy or its authorized resellers with what it calls an extensive warranty starting from the date of purchase, but that general section gives no number of months. The page's only 12-month tables are headed for the ExpertSecure System and for breast pump products, neither of which is this camera, so we have no stated warranty term for the SoloCam S220.
The conditions are stated clearly. The limited warranty is restricted to the country of purchase and is void on items taken outside it. Remedies are at eufy's sole discretion and include replacement parts, repair, a factory refurbished unit or a new unit. Warranties on replacements run for the original item's remaining timeframe or three months after replacement, whichever is longer, and a full refund voids the warranty.
One disclaimer matters for an Amazon purchase: eufy says the return and warranty policy on that page applies exclusively to purchases made directly through online shops eufy operates, and that terms may differ if you bought through a third party. Its exclusions list covers misuse, water exposure, unauthorized modification, weather-related exterior degradation, third-party accessories, acts of nature and purchases from unauthorized sellers. Check the seller of the offer you select and keep the receipt and serial number.
