Ring Outdoor Cam (Stick Up Cam) Battery Security Camera
A movable 1080p camera you can stand on a surface or fix to a wall
Ring's battery-powered Outdoor Cam records 1080p over single-band 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, with two-way talk, a remote siren and an integrated stand that lets it sit freestanding or mount to a wall. There is no card slot or local storage in Ring's documents, so keeping video means a Ring Protect plan.

Fit and limits
Strengths
- The integrated stand means it can sit on a surface as well as mount to a wall
- Two-way talk, Live View, a remote-activated siren and motion alerts work without a plan
- Accessories cover the weak points: a USB-C solar panel, a spare battery pack and a pole mount
Caveats
- No local storage option appears in Ring's documents, so saved video means a subscription
- Person, package and vehicle alerts are plan features on Ring's own plans page
- Single-band 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and the narrowest field of view in Ring's camera comparison
What this camera is, and what Ring now calls it
Ring has renamed the Stick Up Cam to Outdoor Cam, and this listing carries both names in its title. On Ring's own site the matching entry is Outdoor Cam, Battery, powered by a rechargeable battery pack. The listing's description confirms the variant: Outdoor Cam (Stick Up Cam) Battery is a battery-powered camera built for outside but ready for anywhere.
Ring's tech spec describes the installation as an integrated mounting base and stand with an adjustable angle, so it can sit freestanding on a flat surface or be mounted to a wall. The body measures 3.82 by 2.36 by 2.36 inches without the stand, and Ring's comparison table lists this model in white only.
The listing adds a condition on the third mounting option: the separate Mount for Outdoor Cam (Stick Up Cam) is needed for a ceiling mount and is sold separately. Ring also sells a Pole and Wall Mount, a Small Solar Panel with USB-C, a spare Quick Release Battery Pack and a plug-in Chime as accessories for this camera.
Picture, sound and the network it needs
Ring's comparison table gives this model 1080p HD video with night vision and a field of view of 110 degrees horizontal by 57 degrees vertical. The listing describes colour night vision. The wider Ring range reaches 140 degrees horizontal on its 2K models, so this is the narrowest view in the family.
Wi-Fi is single-band 2.4 GHz and Ring labels the standard as Wi-Fi 4, where its 2K and 4K models are dual-band on Wi-Fi 6. If your house has a busy 2.4 GHz band, that is the practical limit to plan around.
Free features in Ring's table are customizable motion detection, real-time notifications, Live View, two-way talk, a remote-activated siren, Works with Alexa, weather resistance and customizable privacy settings. There are no LED spotlights on this model, and Amazon's comparison marks pre-roll as unavailable for it.
Storage: recordings live on a plan, not on a card
Neither Ring's product page nor its plans page mentions a memory card, a hub or any local storage for this camera. What Ring sells instead is Video Event History as part of a Ring Protect plan, described as saving, sharing and replaying recorded videos of every motion event and Live View session for up to 180 days.
So the decision is straightforward: without a plan you get live view, two-way talk, the siren and motion notifications; with a plan you also keep the video. Ring's plans page says plans auto-renew until canceled and that one device or one location is covered per plan, which is the difference between its single-device and whole-home tiers.
Ring also sells 24/7 Continuous Recording as an add-on for one camera, and its own footnote says it applies to an eligible camera and requires any Ring Protect Plan. Check whether this 1080p model is on that eligibility list before counting on it.
Which alerts come with which tier
Ring's single-device and whole-home tiers both list Smart Alerts that identify people, packages and vehicles, up to 180 days of event history, Multi-Cam and Extended Live View for up to 30 minutes at a time, Device Modes, Doorbell Calls, the Ring Appstore, Extended Warranties and SOS Response. So person detection is a subscription feature on Ring's own page, not a free one.
The higher tier adds the features Ring groups as intelligent assistant: Video Descriptions, Familiar Faces, Active Warnings, Video Search, an Unusual Event Alert beta and 24/7 Professional Monitoring. Ring also sells those as a Pro Intelligence add-on for a single camera, which requires one of the lower plans.
One eligibility note matters for this camera. The Amazon listing's own description of Familiar Faces says your 2K and 4K devices tell you exactly who's there. This is a 1080p device, so confirm with Ring which of the intelligent features work on it before paying for a tier to get them.
Weather, temperature and where it can sit
Ring's tech spec gives operating conditions of -5F to 122F (-20C to 50C) and describes the camera as weather resistant. It does not publish an IP rating on the page read here, so weather resistant is the only description you have; ask Ring for a rating if you plan to put it somewhere exposed.
The battery is a removable rechargeable pack, and Ring sells a spare Quick Release Battery Pack so you can swap rather than wait for a charge. Its Small Solar Panel connects over USB-C and is sold separately, as is the Pole and Wall Mount, which Ring describes as expanding placement and angle options for a better view and more sunlight.
Because the camera can also sit freestanding, it is one of the few outdoor cameras that works indoors on a shelf without a bracket. The listing suggests a table, a grill area or a cash register, and the same integrated stand is what makes that possible.
App features, Alexa and what we could not confirm
The Ring app features named on the listing are Safety Alerts with local crime and safety updates from neighbours and public agencies, Privacy Zones for excluding parts of the frame, Quick Replies with pre-recorded motion-activated voice messages, Connected Devices for controlling several Ring devices from one dashboard, and privacy controls in Control Center.
Alexa integration is listed by both Ring and the listing: custom notifications on an Echo Dot, video on an Echo Show, and hands-free monitoring with select Alexa-enabled devices. No other smart-home platform is named on the pages read.
We could not confirm a standard warranty term. Ring's plans page lists Extended Warranties as a plan benefit for eligible devices at one covered location, but two Ring warranty addresses we tried returned not-found pages, and the product page does not state a length. Check the terms supplied in the box or ask Ring directly, and check the seller and condition of the offer you select.
