Its 32-page manual publishes a full specification table: 18.90 by 20.08 by 19.72 inches, a 9.65-inch entrance, a 2.5-gallon waste bin, 15.4 pounds net, a 17-pound maximum cat weight and a 45 dB rating. Four control-panel buttons run cleaning, deodorizing, levelling, bag change and litter change, and the manual sets strict clearances and a list of litters it rules out.

Strengths

- The waste bin is 2.5 gallons in the manual and 13 litres on the maker's page, and no warranty document could be read
What the specification page actually says
The manual ends with a full specification table. It gives dimensions of 18.90 inches wide by 20.08 inches deep by 19.72 inches high, an entrance diameter of 9.65 inches, a waste bin capacity of 2.5 gallons, a net weight of 15.4 pounds, a maximum cat weight of 17 pounds, a decibel rating of 45 dB, rated power of 18 W or less, rated voltage of DC 12 V and an input of DC 12 V at 1.5 A.
It also names the garbage bag size as 2.5 gallon at 17.7 by 17.7 inches and lists the materials: polypropylene for the litter cylinder, TPE rubber for the litter pan and polystyrene for the body. A row labelled Certifications lists CPSC, RoHS, UL and FCC, while Petcove's product page names a different set, UL, ASTM, RoHS, FCC and Prop 65. We read no certificate for any of them and make no claim about what any of them cover.
Several figures differ between sources. The manual's net weight of 15.4 pounds differs from the listing's 16.02 pounds, and Petcove's product page describes a 13-litre waste drawer while the manual's table says 2.5 gallons. The listing and the maker page say the box works for up to three cats; the manual gives a 17-pound maximum cat weight and no cat count, and no Petcove document read states one.
The clearance this box needs before you buy it
The manual's placement notes are the first thing to check against your room. They say not to put the box on carpet, litter mats, rugs or other soft surfaces, and not on uneven or unstable flooring: a flat, firm surface only. They also say not to put a mat or rug underneath it, and that a litter mat belongs in front of the machine instead.
The space requirement is larger than the box: keep a clear space of at least one foot on all sides and at least two feet above the machine. Nothing may sit less than a foot in front of it, to avoid blocking the infrared sensor, and the box must not go in a corner or against a wall. Nothing may be placed on it or rest against it.
Those are the manufacturer's own placement conditions. The manual adds that the box should not be placed where the adapter cable could be a tripping hazard or where pets could chew it, and that it should be kept out of reach of children. Add the clearances to the 18.9 by 20.08 inch footprint before you decide where it goes.
Powering on, the self-test, and what happens if the sensor cannot work
The manual says never to move, lift or drag the box while it is powered on, because that interferes with the weight calibration the weight sensors perform. The adapter goes into the power jack on the right side and then a standard outlet, and the box begins a self-test that takes three to eight minutes, during which no buttons should be pressed.
When the self-test finishes, the box automatically enters auto-cleaning mode and the auto-cleaning LED lights. The manual notes that the self-test runs every time the machine is unplugged and reconnected, so that it can recalibrate weight and other settings.
The manual also says the box may decide the location is unsuitable for the infrared sensor, because the space is too narrow or other infrared sources nearby cause interference. If that happens the infrared sensor is automatically disabled and the weight sensors take over detecting when a cat enters.
Four buttons, the cycle timings and the app
The control panel has four buttons, each with a press and a hold function: auto-cleaning on or off and Wi-Fi connection; manual cleaning and garbage-bag change; deodorizing and litter levelling; infrared sensor on or off and litter change. Holding buttons two and three together locks the panel. Named LEDs cover Wi-Fi, auto-cleaning, FULL, garbage bag, manual cleaning, levelling, deodorizing, change litter, the infrared sensor, and an error for a cylinder that is not installed or cannot rotate.
The timings are specific. By default the box waits three minutes after a cat leaves before starting a cycle, and the cleaning cycle itself takes four minutes. A deodorizing cycle of thirty minutes then begins automatically. A cat inside for at least ten seconds counts as a use and starts the delay timer, and by default the box cleans no more than once every fifteen minutes. All control panel buttons are locked while a cycle runs, and a cycle stops if a cat approaches or enters and resumes when it leaves.
Petcove's product page says the app handles scheduled cycles and quiet hours. The manual gives a Bluetooth pairing route and a Wi-Fi route, and its Wi-Fi setup pages recommend separating a dual-frequency router's 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. The manual also recommends a longer cleaning interval for multi-cat homes.
Litter: what the manual rules out
The manual warns that inappropriate litter can clog, damage or break the machine. It says not to use silica gel or crystal litter, not to use non-clumping or loose-clumping litter, and not to use low-density or very lightweight litter such as pine or activated carbon litter, which it says is too light to pass easily through the filter.
It also rules out litter with pellets larger than 0.1 inch (2.5 mm) in diameter and 0.6 inch (15 mm) in length, which it says is too large to pass the filter, and high-dust litter, because dust can interfere with the electronics. Petcove's own answer on what to use names mixed tofu litter with medium-sized pellets as preferred, and says bentonite clay litter and very fine sand-textured litter are okay but may affect the timing of the FULL prompt because of their weight, density and liquidity.
The rubber litter pan carries MIN and MAX fill lines on its back wall; the manual says to stay above MIN and below MAX, check the level daily and top up when it drops below MIN. The listing's bullet, by contrast, says to use any clumping litter you already buy and that clay, bentonite or tofu works, and names no exclusions.
Upkeep, the auto-cleaning restriction and the warranty
The manual says to empty the waste bin as soon as the FULL LED lights, to empty it more often in warm weather, to wipe the inside of the bin if a bag leaks, and to replace the litter regularly. It recommends cleaning the litter cylinder every fifteen to thirty days and each time the litter is changed. The maker page says the cylinder pops out for washing; the manual's cleaning section names what to use and avoid, and we do not republish it.
The manual says not to use auto-cleaning mode with pregnant or nursing cats or with kittens weighing less than three pounds, and to use manual cleaning for them instead. That is Petcove's own operating instruction; anything about your cat's health belongs with your vet, and the manual's own sections on this are there to be read in full.
Petcove's product page states a Lifetime Warranty and says to register within fourteen days to activate it, alongside a 30-day returns statement and US-based support. The registration link leads to a third-party form, which we opened and did not fill in, so we read no warranty document setting out coverage, exclusions or claims; ask Petcove for those terms in writing. The maker page also says the unit arrives fully assembled, which no other document we read confirms.
