What this listing is
This is the Staples Dexley mesh task chair in black, part number ST63111, with a mesh seat and back, a sliding lumbar support, height-adjustable arms and a headrest. Staples' operator's manual covers the Dexley chair under models ST63111, ST63112 and ST63113.
Staples' current product page for the Dexley, item 24398921, lists model UN56946V-CC rather than ST63111, but its product-instructions link opens the same ST63111 manual, and its overall dimensions match the listing's. The page also says packaging may vary. Check the model on the box against ST63111 when it arrives.
Weight rating and daily use
All three sources give 275 pounds. The manual's warranty says it is based on up to 8 to 10 hours of continual use in a 24-hour period for users weighing up to 275 pounds, or 124 kilograms.
Staples' product page and the Amazon listing describe the rating as based on a 5 to 10 hour workday instead. The manual's 8 to 10 hours is the warranty's own wording, so use it if you plan long days in the chair.
What you can adjust
The seat-height handle is under the right side of the seat: lean forward slightly and lift it to raise the seat, or stay seated and lift it to lower. The tilt lock is a paddle, also on the right. Push it out to let the back tilt freely, or push it in to lock the back in one of three preset positions.
A round knob under the front centre sets tilt tension. On this chair, counter-clockwise makes it firmer and clockwise makes it softer. The lumbar support slides up or down, the arms move up and down when you press their buttons, and the headrest rotates forward and back by 15 degrees and lifts or pushes down for height.
Size
Staples lists overall dimensions of 45.3 to 50.8 inches high, 28.2 inches wide and 28.6 inches deep, the same as the listing's bullets. The seat sits 17.4 to 21 inches high and measures 20.1 inches wide by 18.3 inches deep, and the back is 23.8 inches high and 19.1 inches wide.
The listing's details table gives 28.58 by 28.19 by 45.31 inches and a weight of 37 pounds. Staples' page describes the mechanism as swivel-tilt in its bullets and synchro-tilt in its summary; the manual names neither, so ask Staples if the mechanism type matters to you.
Assembly and upkeep
The parts are the base, gas lift, five casters, seat plate, seat, back, two arms and a headrest, with four colour-coded screw types and an Allen wrench. Staples packs each step's hardware in its own segment of a parts pack, and the manual shows six steps plus an optional headrest step. You finish by sitting on the chair to seat it into the base.
The manual warns that bolts, screws and knobs may loosen during use and asks you to tighten the chair's hardware every month. Staples' product support number for assembly questions is 1-800-425-0049, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern.
Warranty: five years from Staples
The manual's warranty is from Staples the Office Superstore, LLC to the original purchaser, covering defects in design, assembly, material or workmanship for five years from purchase. It lists non-moving metal parts, the frame, the pneumatic cylinder, the upholstery and all other parts, and Staples replaces the defective part.
You need the original receipt or proof of purchase to get replacement parts, so keep it for the full five years. The warranty excludes normal wear, misuse, abuse, improper storage or handling, installation, accidents, and repairs or alterations. The listing and Staples' page both also state a five-year limited warranty.
