Tractive CAT Mini GPS Pet Tracker with Safety Collar

The CAT Mini is a cellular GPS tracker for cats, supplied with a Rogz safety release collar, and it needs a paid Tractive plan because the SIM inside carries the data. Tractive rates it for necks of 7.9 to 12.2 inches and up to five days of battery with Power Saving Zones in use. Minimum cat weight is published as 6.5, 6.6 and 7 pounds in three different places.

This is the cellular kind, and it will not work unsubscribed
The CAT Mini is a GPS tracker with a mobile data connection, not a Bluetooth finder tag. The listing bullet says so plainly: the subscription covers all costs for the built-in SIM and the data. Tractive's own product page repeats that you choose a subscription after purchase.
The practical consequence is that the hardware on its own does nothing. Unlike a finder tag, which keeps working for years on a coin cell and reports whenever a compatible phone passes by, this device is a small phone on a collar and needs an active plan to send a position at all. We are not quoting any plan price; get current terms from Tractive before buying the hardware.
What you get in return is location on demand rather than location by luck. Tractive advertises live updates every two to three seconds in its live mode, virtual fences with escape alerts, location history and a weekly territory map that shows where the cat habitually goes. None of that is available from a tag.
Three different minimum cat weights appear across the same two pages
This is the number that decides whether you can use the product at all, and it is published three ways. The Amazon title and bullet say the CAT Mini is made for cats 6.5 pounds and up. Tractive's model selector on its cat page says the CAT Mini is "Only for cats above 7 lbs". Tractive's own technical specification table, on the same page, says cats above 6.6 pounds.
That spread of 6.5 to 7 pounds is small in absolute terms and large if you own a small or young cat, because it is the difference between a tracker the maker will stand behind for your animal and one it will not. We are not choosing between the three figures.
If your cat is under about seven and a half pounds, ask Tractive directly what the minimum weight is for the CAT Mini and get the answer in writing before ordering. If your cat is comfortably above it, the question does not arise.
Neck size and the safety collar are the other half of fit
Tractive's specification table gives the CAT Mini a neck circumference range of 7.9 to 12.2 inches and says it fits collar widths up to 0.8 inches. Those limits matter more on a cat than on a dog, because a cat collar has to be loose enough to be safe and tight enough not to catch.
The box supplies the collar rather than expecting you to have one. Tractive lists the CAT Mini, a Rogz safety release collar in black, a tracker charger in white, a clip mount and a rubber mount. Amazon's Built-In Media field lists the pet tracker, cat collar, attachment clips and charging cable, which is the same set described differently.
A safety release collar is designed to come apart under load so a cat caught on a branch or a fence can pull free. That is the right design for an outdoor cat, and it also means the tracker can end up on the ground rather than on the cat. Nothing on either page says the tracker is retained if the collar releases.
Battery: up to five days on one page, 84 hours on another
Tractive's specification table says up to five days, and it qualifies that in the same cell: "Up to 5 days (with Power Saving Zones)". The Amazon bullet repeats up to five days and adds that Power Saving Zones extend it further. Amazon's Features & Specs table, however, gives a battery average life of 84 hours, which is three and a half days, with a battery capacity of 168.
Power Saving Zones are Tractive's feature for cutting the tracker's work while the animal is inside a known safe area, typically home. So the five-day figure assumes the cat spends a meaningful part of each day in that zone, and the 84-hour figure may be closer to what a cat that roams all day delivers.
Either way this is a device you put on a charger regularly, not one you forget about. If you want longer between charges, Tractive's newer CAT 6 Mini is rated at up to seven days on the same page, but it is a different product with an integrated collar and a narrower 7.5 to 9.0 inch neck range.
Networks, phones, and what the two Tractive models do differently
Tractive's specification table gives the CAT Mini LTE/4G CatM1 and 2G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11b WiFi, with positioning from GPS, GLONASS and Galileo. That 2G fallback is worth noting, because 2G networks have been retired in parts of the United States, and the table lists it as part of how this model connects.
The newer CAT 6 Mini in the same table uses LTE/4G Cat1bis and 2.4 GHz b/g/n WiFi with no 2G listed, so the two models are not on the same radio. If cellular coverage where you live is thin, ask Tractive which bands the CAT Mini uses in your area and check its coverage tool before ordering.
The phone requirement is identical for both: Android 10.0 or newer, or iOS 17.0 or newer. Check that against the handset that will actually run the app. Amazon's Compatible Devices field just says smartphone, which is not specific enough to buy on.
Health features, warranty, and what Tractive itself promises
Tractive describes activity and sleep monitoring for the cat, a weekly well-being report, and alerts when those patterns change unusually, and its cat page advertises vitals monitoring with heart and respiratory rate as a newer addition. Its feature panel and its model table treat the two cat models differently, so confirm with Tractive which of those features the CAT Mini hardware actually supports before buying for that reason.
Tractive prints its own limit at the foot of every page on its site: Tractive is not a medical device, and while it monitors trends and patterns in a pet's well-being it is not intended to diagnose health conditions, with medical advice always to be sought from a vet. We repeat that limit rather than the marketing around it. Treat the data as a record of change to show a veterinarian, and take any question about what a reading means to that vet.
On warranty the documents point in different directions. Amazon's field says "2 year manufacturer"; Tractive's own General Terms and Conditions for the United States, valid from 23 December 2025, say products and services are provided on an as-is and as-available basis except for consumer rights under mandatory law, that Tractive warrants only that products will be provided in usable condition, and that returns for refunds, replacements or repairs under warranty apply only in countries Tractive supports. Ask Tractive to confirm the term in writing; the 30-day refund guarantee advertised on its product page is a return window, not a warranty.
