Two sets of ratings, one for each fuel

Westinghouse's product page and the WGen5300DFcv manual give 5,300 running watts and 6,500 peak watts on gasoline, and 4,800 running watts and 5,800 peak watts on propane. The product page says the unit switches from gasoline to propane without shutting off. The Amazon listing's details table gives 6,600 starting watts, a figure neither Westinghouse document gives.

The manual's specification page lists 120/240 volts, 60 Hz, single phase, 3,600 rpm, a power factor of 1.0 and a maximum ambient temperature of 104°F, and it says not to use E15 or E85 fuel. The product page gives running current of 22 amps at 240 volts or 44 amps at 120 volts on gasoline.

Outlets, starting and the display

The product page lists one 120V duplex 5-20R outlet, one 120/240V L14-30R outlet and one 120V TT-30R outlet, with outlet covers and no GFCI outlets. The manual says a 20 amp breaker limits the 5-20R receptacles and a 30 amp breaker limits the L14-30R and TT-30R receptacles.

Starting is by recoil with a manual choke, and the product page says no battery is included. The manual describes a fuel selector switch for gasoline or propane, a voltage selector for 120V or 240V, and a data display that shows voltage, frequency, lifetime hours and a run-time and maintenance reminder.

Run time, oil, the CO sensor and warranty

Westinghouse gives 14.5 hours of gasoline run time at 25 percent load on the 4.7 gallon tank, 11 hours at 50 percent, and 9 hours at 50 percent on propane; the listing's details table says 14 hours without naming a load. The manual asks owners to stay under 50 percent of rated running watts during the first five hours of break-in.

The manual has a CO sensor section describing an automatic engine shutdown when carbon monoxide builds up around the running generator, and the page title and the listing both name a CO sensor, yet the product page's specification row reads "Carbon Monoxide (CO) Sensor: No". Oil capacity is 20.3 oz (0.6 qt) on the product page and 0.74 quarts in the manual.

The box lists differ: the product page names an oil bottle, an oil funnel, a spark plug wrench and a propane regulator and hose, while the listing names engine oil and a funnel, the owner's manual, a propane hose, a quick-start guide and the warranty. Westinghouse states a 3-year limited residential warranty and a 1-year commercial warranty, and the manual's carbon monoxide and placement sections should be read before first use.
