What the two maker documents agree on
The GX400BN is a recoil-start, dual-fuel inverter generator built on a 149cc air-cooled four-stroke OHV engine. On gasoline the maker rates it at 4,000 peak and 3,200 running watts; on propane the same two documents give 3,600 peak and 2,800 running watts, so the fuel you choose changes the ceiling.
Outlets are modest and specific: two 120-volt 20-amp household sockets, one 120-volt 30-amp RV socket, and USB. The maker's web table lists one USB-A and one USB-C port, and the manual's table records the USB output as five volts at eighteen watts, twelve watts. There is no 240-volt outlet and no twelve-volt automotive post.
Both documents give a 62 decibel noise figure without stating a measurement distance, an eight-hour run time at half load, and a 2.1 gallon tank. The manual adds the half-load fuel burn behind that number: about 1.1 litres or 0.3 gallons per hour on gasoline, and 0.79 kilograms or 1.75 pounds per hour on propane.
Three numbers on the listing do not match the manual
The listing's detail table says the tank holds 1.18 gallons. Both the maker's own spec table and the manual's specifications page say 2.1 gallons, or eight litres. The listing also gives a run time of six hours where both maker documents say eight hours at half load. Neither document explains either gap, so confirm both against the label on the unit.
The engine claim also moves. A listing bullet calls it a 5.5 horsepower engine and a listing field says five horsepower maximum, while the manual's specification table records a power output of 4.35 horsepower equivalent. The displacement is 149cc in all three places. No source we read reconciles the three output figures.
Weight is the third. The maker's spec table and the listing both say 55 pounds, but a feature bullet on that same maker page says 58 pounds, and the manual's table records 26.3 kilograms net, which it prints as 58 pounds, with a 29.5 kilogram gross shipping weight. Neither document explains the gap, so confirm the weight before planning to lift it alone.
Dimensions disagree too, which matters for RV bays
The maker's web spec table and the listing both give 20 by 12.2 by 18.9 inches. The manual's specifications page instead gives 540 millimetres long, 350 wide and 540 high, which works out to 21.26 by 13.78 by 21.26 inches. That is more than two inches taller and over an inch wider than the web figure.
If you are measuring a locker, a truck bed box or an RV bay, measure against both sets rather than either one, and ask the seller which describes the unit shipping now. The unit carries a mobility kit and handles in both documents, so the height figure matters most where it has to slide into a fixed opening.
Both documents also mark the frame as synthetic and list outlet covers, a fuel gauge and a three-in-one LED display that the maker describes as showing voltage, amperage, frequency, runtime hours and total power output.
Temperature, altitude and where it is allowed to run
The manual's notice box sets an operating window: the product is designed and rated for continuous operation at ambient temperatures from 23 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, which is minus five to forty Celsius. If it has been stored outside that range, the manual says to bring it back within the range before running it.
It then derates the output twice over. Maximum power falls about 3.5 percent for every 1,000 feet above sea level, and about one percent for every ten degrees Fahrenheit above sixty. A mountain campsite on a hot afternoon can therefore deliver noticeably less than the 3,200 watt rating printed on the box.
The manual also states the generator must always be operated outdoors in a well-ventilated area and at least twenty feet away from doors, windows and other vents. None of its fuel, carbon monoxide or grounding procedures are reproduced here. Read the manual's safety section in full before the first start rather than relying on any summary.
Protections, oil and the parallel option
The unit carries a carbon monoxide shutdown the maker calls CO Sentry, which it describes as shutting the generator down when unsafe levels are detected. The listing adds overload and short-circuit protection to that list. Both maker documents also record an automatic low-oil shutdown, and the manual says oil is included with the unit.
Oil capacity is 600 millilitres, or 21 fluid ounces, and the maker's web table recommends 10W-30. The manual says oil is included with the unit. Neither document read here publishes an oil change interval, so look that up in the manual before the first weekend of use rather than after it.
The generator is parallel capable in both documents, and the maker sells a parallel kit to join two GX400BN units. One inconsistency: the web spec table marks automatic voltage regulation as not applicable while the manual's table marks it Yes. Ask the seller which applies to the unit you receive.
Certification, engine family and the three-year warranty
The maker's spec table records the engine family as PCSPS.1491XA, marks the unit EPA certified, and marks it as not CARB certified. Pulsar's own table is the only source for that, so if emissions rules where you live matter, confirm with the seller whether this unit can be sold and used at your address before ordering.
Warranty is stated as three years limited in the header of the maker's product page and again in its specification table, and the listing's warranty field says three year manufacturer. Neither document read here publishes the full warranty text, so ask for the terms rather than assuming what three years limited covers.
Neither the maker's page nor the specifications page of the manual we could read sets out what the three-year limited term covers, what it excludes or how a claim is made. Treat the three-year figure as a headline and ask for the written terms before buying, rather than assuming parts, labour and engine are all included.
