Two Full HD cameras run from an app
BlackVue's specification sheet for the DR770X-2CH II lists Full HD at 60fps from the front camera and Full HD at 30fps from the rear, both on STARVIS sensors of about 2.1 megapixels, encoded in H.264. The front camera's diagonal viewing angle is 139 degrees and the rear's is 131. The sheet notes frame rate may vary during Wi-Fi streaming.
BlackVue's specification lists LED indicators, a format button and a touch sensor for manual recording and lists no display; viewing is handled by the BlackVue app and desktop viewer. BlackVue gives the front body as 118.5 mm wide and 95 g, and the rear as 67.4 mm wide and 25 g.
The box has three ways to power it
BlackVue's standard-components page for the DR770X II series shows a front camera, rear camera and rear connection cable for 2CH models, a dual USB-C car charger, a USB-C power cable, a hardwiring power cable, a microSD card, mounting tapes, a pry tool, cable clips and a quick start guide. The listing variant says 64GB for the card and its title mentions the hardwire cable.
The listing's own box field says only User Manual, so check contents on arrival against BlackVue's list. The installation guide describes four power routes: a USB-C PD 3.0 port in the car, the dual USB-C charger in a 12V socket, the hardwiring cable to the fuse box, or BlackVue's separately sold B-130A battery pack.
Parking mode depends on how you power it
The installation guide warns that parking mode is not supported with USB-C power, from either a PD 3.0 port or the USB-C car charger, and says to use the hardwiring cable or a battery pack. The guide describes the hardwiring connections to the fuse box; follow it or use an installer rather than improvising.
BlackVue's specification sheet adds that with the hardwiring cable, ACC triggers parking mode, and with other methods the G-sensor triggers it. Parking recording is motion-triggered, with impact events saved as event files. The listing adds that parking time lapse is available with hardwiring and that up to 50 event files are protected from overwriting.
Wi-Fi is listed as 802.11 b/g/n; cloud needs a connection
The specification sheet lists built-in Wi-Fi as 802.11 b/g/n, built-in GPS using GPS and GLONASS, and LTE only as an external add-on. The listing says the camera can upload to BlackVue Cloud through a Wi-Fi hotspot or the optional CM100G LTE module, sold separately.
BlackVue's cloud page lists Live View, event auto upload, remote playback and download, push notifications for motion or impact, GPS tracking and remote firmware updates. Neither the cloud page nor the specification sheet we read states whether these require a paid plan, so check BlackVue's cloud terms before relying on them.
High heat cut-off and card rules
BlackVue lists operating and storage temperatures of -4°F to 176°F and a high-temperature cut-off at about 176°F. The camera uses a supercapacitor as its backup power. Input is 12V to 24V DC through the hardwiring plug, and average draw is about 380mA at 12V recording and 300mA in parking mode, per BlackVue.
The sheet specifies BlackVue microSD cards up to 1TB, and the listing says a 1TB card is sold separately. To format, hold the format button for five seconds until a beep, release, then hold again for five seconds. The guide asks you to peel the protective film off both cameras to prevent overheating.
Installation notes and warranty
The guide places the front camera behind the rear-view mirror and the rear camera at the top centre of the rear windshield, on a clean, dry glass surface, with the engine off when inserting the card. Cable clips and a pry tool are in BlackVue's box list for routing the cables.
The listing's warranty field says two years. BlackVue's warranty terms were not among the pages we read, so confirm coverage and any seller restrictions with BlackVue or the seller before buying, and check who is selling the offer you choose.
