A two-camera kit that arrives with storage already in it
The R2-4K DUAL is a front unit with a 3-inch IPS screen plus a separate rear camera. ROVE's package-contents panel lists a 360-degree rotational suction mount, a 360-degree rotational 3M sticky mount, a dual USB car charger with a spare USB-C port, the 128GB ROVE PRO microSD card, a rear camera cable, a 12 ft USB-C power cable for the front camera, a 1 m USB-C data cable, two spare 3M sticky tapes, five cable clips, a warning sticker, front and rear electrostatic films, two wet cleaning pads and wiring tools.
Amazon's included-components field lists the same kit in different units: a 3.5 M USB-C power cable, a 1 M data cable, a 6 M rear cam extension cable, the dual USB charger, both mounts, the camera pair, the 128GB card, a user manual, quick start guide and warranty card. The safety sheet ROVE supplies with the listing settles the front cable by writing it as 3.5 M (12ft), so those two figures describe one cable.
The rear cable does not resolve as neatly. ROVE's own package list says 6.5M while Amazon's field says 6M, and ROVE's accessory store sells both a 6M and a 9M rear camera cable for this model. If the run from your mirror to the tailgate is tight, ask ROVE which length ships in the box before ordering.
The 4K figure is upscaled, and ROVE says so
ROVE's product page states that the STARVIS 2 IMX675 CMOS sensor captures native 2.5K video which is processed and output in 4K (2160P). The listing repeats it in the first bullet, calling it upscaled 4K, not native 4K. Amazon's technical table carries all three numbers at once: 1080p, 2160p (Upscaled) and 1440p (Native). The rear camera records Full HD 1080P.
That matters if you are comparing against a camera advertised as native 4K, because the detail that reaches the file is captured at the lower resolution first. ROVE presents the upscaling as deliberate processing rather than a marketing rounding, and it is one of the few dash-cam listings that prints the word upscaled in the title.
Optics differ front to rear. ROVE gives the front lens an F1.5 aperture and the rear F1.8, and describes the pair as 150 degrees plus 140 degrees. Amazon's table lists one field of view, 150 degrees, and a maximum aperture of 1.5 f_stop; those are the front camera's figures. Frame rate is listed as 30 fps.
Storage: a card is included, and the ceiling is high
A 128GB ROVE PRO microSDXC card with a full-size adapter is included, which ROVE presents as a free gift with the order and the listing presents as part of the package. Both ROVE and Amazon state support for cards up to 1TB, and Amazon's table lists the flash memory type as microSDXC with one card slot.
Neither the product page nor the safety sheet states that a high-endurance card is required, and we found no ROVE manual for this model that sets a card class. The safety sheet's only storage instruction is to inspect the microSD card for damage or cracks before use. ROVE does sell its own industrial microSD cards separately, but the documents read here describe that as a product line, not a condition.
Loop recording overwrites the oldest files automatically when the card fills. The G-sensor locks footage on impact into a separate event folder so loop recording will not overwrite it.
Parking mode works only with a hardwire kit you buy separately
The camera is powered on the road through the included dual USB car charger and the 3.5 m USB-C cable, and the safety sheet asks specifically for that cable and a compliant 5V USB power source. For parking coverage ROVE's comparison table marks every model in the range, this one included, as 24H Auto Trigger Parking Mode with HWK Req., and the listing states outright that a hardwire kit is required and is not included with the package. ROVE sells a 3-lead USB-C hardwire kit listed as fitting the R2, R2 PRO, R2 DUAL and R3.
ROVE's parking panel lists three settings: time-lapse with G-sensor, motion detection with G-sensor, and collision detection only, and says the mode triggers automatically when the engine is off. The listing describes the time-lapse option as 1 fps, and says that if an event occurs the camera records a full one-minute video, locks it in an event folder, and gives a voice alert the next time you start the car.
Because the hardwire kit taps the fuse box, this is the part of the install most owners either pay for or plan an afternoon around. Budget for the kit and the fitting when you compare this camera against one whose parking mode runs from the cigarette-lighter socket.
Supercapacitor power, and a heat claim without a number
ROVE lists a supercapacitor rather than a battery and describes it on the product page as giving consistent performance in extreme temperatures and as fire and explosion proof. The safety sheet adds that the R2-4K DUAL features built-in thermal protection that safeguards the device under high-temperature conditions.
Neither the product page nor the safety sheet states an operating or storage temperature range in degrees, and ROVE's downloads page lists no user manual for this model. So there is no number to check the claim against. If you park outdoors in a hot climate and the temperature ceiling matters to you, ask ROVE support for the figure in writing before buying.
Amazon's measurements field gives the front unit as 1.45 inches deep by 3.64 wide by 2.5 high and 4.5 ounces. The mount is a suction cup or a 3M pad, both described as rotating through 360 degrees, and the camera takes power by USB-C.
App, GPS and a warranty you have to register to extend
Wi-Fi is dual-band at 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz, and ROVE claims downloads to a phone at up to 20 MB/s through the ROVE app, with live preview, settings, playback, downloads and over-the-air firmware updates. Those transfer-speed figures are ROVE's claims and we did not test them. Neither the product page nor the listing mentions a subscription, an account or a cloud plan for any of these functions.
GPS is built into the camera rather than the mount, and records route, speed, date and time into the video. ROVE offers a free GPS Player for PC and Mac that shows recordings alongside the GPS log and G-sensor data. Voice guidance announces settings and events through the built-in speaker.
ROVE's warranty page gives one full year of limited warranty from the date of purchase against defects in materials and craftsmanship, extendable to a total of 15 months if you register within 30 days. There is a 30-day money-back window with return shipping paid. The warranty is confined to the first purchaser and is not transferable, excludes products bought from an unauthorized reseller or bought for resale, and excludes damage caused by using a power cord or charger that ROVE did not supply. Keep the receipt and check the seller of the offer you select.
