What is in the box, and whether it is one or two

Amazon's item details say the included components are two adjustable dumbbells, the unit count is 2 and the number of items is 2. Core Home Fitness says the same on its own page: the set includes two adjustable dumbbells, two cradles and an exercise guide, with the total pair weight given as 100 pounds.

The cradles are not optional storage. The manual explains that weight selection can only be made when the handle is fully engaged in its cradle, so each dumbbell needs its cradle sitting on the floor or on the separately sold stand in order to change weight at all.

Twist to change weight, but only while it is docked

The adjustment is a twist of the handle. The manual's overview says the weight adjust system can only be used when the dumbbell is docked with its cradle, and the troubleshooting table repeats that the locking mechanism will not release until the handle fully engages the cradle. There are no pins to align or levers to slide.

The adjustment window runs 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 pounds, which is ten settings in 5 pound steps, and the handle without plates weighs 5 pounds. Core Home Fitness describes the same range and says each dumbbell provides the versatility of ten separate weights.

The manual also sets a first-use check. Once the handle is engaged, turn it through each weight setting in both directions and pull the handle and plates out of the cradle each time to confirm the plates are securely engaged before you start training.

The dumbbell grows as you load it

Core Home Fitness states plainly that the dumbbell length increases as weight is added, and gives one anchor point: at the 5 pound starting weight, the dumbbell is 9.3 inches long. The full assembly, at the top of the range, is listed at 14.5 inches long by 7.9 inches wide by 7.5 inches high.

Amazon's measurements table gives 14.5 inches long by 7.9 inches wide, which matches the maker's figure for the loaded dumbbell. Neither document publishes the length at each intermediate setting, so if clearance between your hands at the bottom of a bench press matters, plan around the longest figure.

The safety rules, including the one about dropping

The manual's precaution 14 says never allow the dumbbells to drop freely to the ground from any height, warns of damage and potential personal injury, and states that this action constitutes abuse and will not be covered under the warranty. Precaution 15 adds that the dumbbells must never bump together during use.

Two more rules are specific to this locking design. Precaution 11 says never attempt to disengage plates when the dumbbell has been removed from its cradle. Precaution 10 asks you to confirm the plates are installed correctly, because incorrect installation may mean the plates do not engage properly and can unintentionally drop.

The rest is conventional but worth knowing: use on a flat, level, dry surface with a mat recommended, keep children and pets away, parental supervision for anyone under 18, home indoor use only with non-residential or outdoor use voiding warranties, inspect before each use, and never disassemble the handles.

Assembly, plate layout and the cradle limit

Assembly is four steps per dumbbell. Place the cradle on a flat stable surface, insert four large plates into each side working inward from the outside, insert the two smaller plates, then drop the handle in with the weight adjustment windows facing up. The manual notes the handle can go in either direction.

The parts list gives four 2.5 pound weights and sixteen 5 pound weights, plus two cradles, two handles and two copies of the manual. The troubleshooting table traces almost every fault back to plate order, with the fix being an equal number of correctly oriented plates on each side of the cradle.

One number to respect: the manual says the recommended combined dumbbell cradle weight limit should not exceed 100 pounds, which it describes as two dumbbells at 50 pounds each. That is the cradle's rating, not a statement about anything you might stack on it.

Care and a two-year parts warranty

Maintenance is light. Wipe the equipment free of perspiration after each use with a dampened soft cloth, avoid excessive moisture on components, and do not use abrasive cleaners or petroleum-based solvents. Inspect for loose hardware and worn components before each use, and do not store or use the equipment outdoors.

The manual adds that you should not attempt technical service without consulting an authorised service representative, and that disassembling the dumbbell or cradle is not permitted because these products are not designed to be serviced by the customer and doing so will void the warranty.

Core Home Fitness states the warranty as two years, parts, on its own page, and Amazon's warranty description also says 2 Year Parts Warranty. Neither document we read splits that between the handle, the plates and the cradle, so ask before assuming the cradle is covered on the same terms. The maker's contact details are printed on the back of the manual.
