DEWALT DCCS672B 60V MAX 18-Inch Brushless Chainsaw, Tool Only
FLEXVOLT battery owners who want an 18-inch cordless saw
The DCCS672B is DEWALT's bare 60V MAX 18-inch brushless chainsaw with automatic oiling, supplied with a bar sheath and tensioning tool. DEWALT lists it at 14.5 pounds, far above the listing's 1.52. Its 2.85 horsepower peak and cutting claims all assume a separately sold DCB609 battery.

The listing is thin; DEWALT's page fills the gaps
The Amazon listing for this ASIN has a title that begins "Dewalt Saw Chain", one bullet that repeats the title, and no product description beyond that. Its item details give model DCCS672B, UPC 885911798150 and an included component described as a DW 60V 18-inch chainsaw, bare. DEWALT's product page shows the same barcode, so the match to the maker's page is firm.
Despite the words saw chain in the title, this is the complete 60V MAX 18-inch brushless chainsaw sold as a bare tool. DEWALT lists the box contents as the DCCS672 chainsaw, a bar sheath and a tensioning tool. It does not include a battery or charger.
Battery required, and which one DEWALT's claims use
DEWALT's bare-tool notice says compatible batteries are in its FLEXVOLT 20V/60V MAX system. The page footnote explains that 60V MAX is the maximum initial voltage measured without load and that nominal voltage is 54 volts. If you do not already own FLEXVOLT batteries and a charger, plan to add both.
Every performance claim on the page is tied to the DCB609 battery, sold separately: a peak of 2.85 horsepower, 26 percent more peak power and up to 2.5 times the torque of a Husqvarna 440 40.9 cc gas saw, and a 17-inch white oak log cut in as little as 24 seconds. These are DEWALT's figures, which we did not test, and DEWALT gives no comparable figures for other batteries.
The listing's weight and power source disagree with DEWALT
Amazon's item details list the weight as 1.52 pounds and the power source as hand powered. DEWALT's specifications give an assembled product weight of 14.5 pounds and describe a battery-powered, cordless, brushless saw. DEWALT does not say whether its 14.5 pounds includes a battery, so check the weight with the battery you plan to use.
The dimensions largely agree. DEWALT gives 10.9 by 10.8 by 39.33 inches and Amazon 10.9 by 10.8 by 39.5 inches. The listing's 2.85 horsepower figure matches DEWALT's peak rating, but only with the DCB609 battery, which the listing does not mention.
Bar, chain and oiling
The manual says the DCCS672 takes replacement 18-inch chain DWO1DT618 and 18-inch bar DWZCSB18, and DEWALT's page describes that bar as 3/8-inch low-profile pitch and 0.050-inch gauge. The manual also notes that the bar and chain may be packed separately in the carton, in which case you fit them before first use using the supplied wrench.
Oiling is automatic, with an oil level indicator. The manual says to refill when the level drops below a quarter, to always empty the oil tank when you finish cutting, and to use a high-quality bar and chain oil. It recommends vegetable-based bar oil when pruning trees and warns against waste oil or very thick oil.
Routine care the manual asks for
Chain tension should be checked before each use, and the manual warns that a new chain stretches slightly, so tension needs frequent checks during the first two hours. After every few hours of use it asks you to remove the sprocket cover, bar and chain, brush them clean and make sure the bar's oiling hole is clear.
The manual recommends sharpening with a 5/32-inch file and replacing the chain once it has been sharpened four times. It says to blow dust out of the air vents with dry air at least weekly, to avoid solvents on plastic parts, and never to immerse any part in liquid. Repairs go to a DEWALT factory or authorised service centre.
Battery care matters too. The manual says not to store or use the tool and battery where temperatures reach 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and to charge only between 40 and 104 degrees. Safety, kickback and cutting instructions are in the manual's own chapters, which we did not summarise; read them before use.
Warranty
DEWALT's product page lists a three-year limited warranty, one year of free service and a 90-day satisfaction guarantee. The manual refers you to DEWALT's website for the full three-year terms rather than printing them.
The warranty terms page linked from the manual returned an error when we tried it, so we did not read the full conditions. Ask DEWALT or the seller what the one-year free service covers and what proof of purchase is needed before relying on it.
